● The following institutions require a nomination from the school counselor. If you are interested, ask or a nomination.

○ Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri: Danforth Scholars Program provides full or partial tuition. This program honor students who embrace high ideals and whose life choices are guided by personal integrity, selflessness, a commitment to community, and a dedication to leadership and academic excellence.

○ University of Dayton, Ohio: provides a $2,500 renewable scholarship to students who are selected to be a Leadership in Service Scholarship recipient. They are looking for students who have an innate desire for personal development and committed to service within their school, church, or community.

● Navy ROTC Immediate Scholarship Reservation: Students planning on attending a

university with a Navy ROTC unit, be a senior in the top 20% of your class, have qualifying SAT scores (530 critical reading, 600 math or ACT scores (22 English, 26 Math, 54 combined). Award is full tuition and other financial benefits up to $180,000. See your counselor.

● P.E.O. California State Chapter: http://www.peocalifornia.org/

The P.E.O. California State Chapter is a philanthropic organization that promotes educational and personal growth opportunities for women. The have several scholarships available for females. The application can be requested from September 1-January 10th. Deadline is February 1.

● Toyota Community Scholars Program:http://tfsinthecommunity.com/mle-scholarships Must be nominated by your counselor. Must have at least a GPA of 3.0, be active in the community, be a US Citizen, and plan to enroll in a 4 year university. Due Sept. 15 -Oct. 24.

● QuestBridge National College Match Program: www.questbridge.org

This program pairs outstanding low-income high school seniors with admission and full four year scholarships to some of the nation’s leading colleges. Seniors should apply who have demonstrated academic excellence (top10% of your class) and come from households earning less than $60,000 annually for a typical family of four. Award: College Match scholarships cover the full cost of tuition, room, and board, worth approximately $220,000. Due: September 26

● Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship Program:www.jkcf.org/scholarships

Requirements: Senior in high school, plan on enrolling in 4-year college, cumulative unweighted 3.5 GPA, combined SAT of 1200 or ACT score of 26, and demonstrate financial need. Award:Up to $40,000 per year. Due: September to November.

● CSU Long Beach President’s Scholarship: Must be nominated by your counselor as the

valedictorian of your class or as a National Merit Finalist. Award: Full ride scholarship to CSU Long Beach. Due: October 1 - November 30

● CSU Chico President’s Scholarship: Must apply to CSU Chico by Nov. 30, have a

GPA of at least 3.7 OR have a GPA of 3.5 and at least a 1200 SAT or 27 ACT composite score. You will then be invited to participate in the competition. Award: 10 scholarships @ $12,000 each. Due: Must file an application by November 30.

● CSU Fresno President’s Scholarship: Must have taken honors courses in high school.

Minimum GPA and test scores will apply. Must have applied to CSU Fresno during the priority application period. Award: $100 - $5000. Due: Must file an application by November 30.

● Veterans of Foreign Wars: Voice of Democracy Scholarship Contest:

http://www.vfw.org/VOD Since 1947, the Voice of Democracy has been the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars’ (VFW’s) premier scholarship program. Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. State winners receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to tour the city, be honored by the VFW, and receive their portion of the $154,000 in national awards, the top scholarship being $30,000. ● American Legion Speech Contest:

This speech is open to all high school students. It consists of two segments; the first will be a speech 8-10 minutes in length concerning some phase of U.S. Constitution. The second segment consists of speech on an assigned topic. The topic will be one of the four amendments identified in this instructions. This speech will be a 4-6 minutes in Length. Award: First place winner of the local contest will receive $150 scholarship, 2nd place - $100, 3rd place - $30. Winners of the various elimination rounds of Competition are working their way to the final prize of $18,000. There will be a practice round to get some helpful hints. The local contest in January. The Eugene McDermott Scholars program at the University of Texas at Dallas is one of the nation’s most generous and selective undergraduate merit awards.
