UPDATE ON THE CLASS OF 2009

The members of the Class of 2009 were asked to give us an update and received the following information.

Sabrina Bakken: I am working as a cardiac monitor technician (I interpret arrhythmias and monitor cardiac telemetry) and LNA on the CICU at Elliot Hospital. I'm going towards my PreMed degree with the end goal of being a cardiac surgeon.

Corey Begley: I'm currently going into my last year of college at Maine Maritime Academy studying International Business and Logistics!

Audrey Burnim: I just graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in Chemistry and I will be pursuing my PhD in Biological Chemistry in the fall at Princeton University.

Katrina DeBenedetto: I just graduated Siena University with a Bachelor’s Business/Marketing Degree.

Jaime DeFelice-Notaris: I am graduating Union College with a BS in Bioengineering and am currently looking for engineering positions at medical device companies.

Jason DeFelice-Notaris: I graduated from Bates with a major in Neuroscience. I start work at Fenway Community Health in the beginning of June as a Biomedical Research Assistant.

Joshua Fyffe: I just graduated on May 13th for Syracuse University. I was a double major in the business school there, studying both Finance and Marketing. I will be starting as a Business Technology Analyst for Deloitte Consulting on July 17th in Manhattan. Despite being a business major I will technically be in their technology practice.

Mallika Iyer: I'm staying at Johns Hopkins University for another year to do an Honors thesis in History. I'm a History, Public Health Studies and International Studies major, and during my time here have had some really great opportunities - I received funding awards to research and work in South Africa and then Ethiopia. This summer I will be using an additional award to conduct research in Special Collections for my thesis, and will also be assisting with a project at the JHU Center for AIDS Research.

Jake Horne: I am at Wheaton College, majoring in History/Political Science. This summer, I will be interning at the Governor’s office in Massachusetts.

Olivia MacDonald: I recently changed schools and am now part of UNE's nursing class of 2018!

Nicole Moriera: I'm currently a senior at Northeastern University and will be graduating in December with a B.S. in Political Science with a concentration in Law. This year I did a co-op internship at the office of Massachusetts Attorney General

Maura Healey. After I graduate I plan to go to Law school, practice law, or eventually work in public policy for the federal government.

Naomi Patel: Currently I am enrolled in Smt. N.H.L Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. I am in my final year and will then have received an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), followed by a 1 year internship in my school's affiliated hospital (a government hospital in Gujarat, India). I will be moving back to America after this, hoping to gain some more experience and then take the next steps to obtain a medical license in the US.

Kristina Ploof: Graduated Cum Laude from Endicott College with a degree in Psychology and hope to be a community support counselor.

Thomas Quinn: Graduated Elon University with Finance Major.

Stephen Schmidt: I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. I currently work in the Center for Systems Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital as a Research Technician.

Lindsay Selden: I am finishing up my final year at Metro State University of Denver with a major in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Planning.

Zoe Siegel: I just graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. I hope to work as a buyer in the fashion industry!

Stephanie Simonoff: I just wrapped producing two BFA thesis films and my second season as an Executive Producer for Emerson Channel's College Kitchen. I'm now looking to work within the producing department of films/TV shows (leaning toward TV shows). I'm looking to be a development producer, where I would focus on the beginning stages of projects before production started, so a pre-production producer. It's good to know where I'm headed and I'm looking forward to graduating Emerson so I can start working toward the career I want!

Aaron Suduiko: I graduated cum laude with high honors in philosophy from Harvard. I'm not sure what I'm doing for work, but I'm planning to focus on further developing my work on video game analysis at withaterriblefate.com.

Annie Taylor: I went to Johnson State College, I graduated in December with a major in Outdoor Environmental Education and a certification in Business for Non Profit and am a teacher at Nature’s Classroom.

Jordyn Tetler: I got my B.S. in Hospitality Management from UNH and am pursuing event management.

Alexa Tsao: I graduated Union College with a B.S in Psychology and am starting a 2 year commitment as Physician Office Assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC before pursuing a Masters in Public Health.

Amanda Turco: I just graduated with my Masters in Marketing from SNHU. I was just hired by Easter Seals as communications and digital media coordinator!

Payton Valure: I just graduated from UNH with a Biomedical Science degree and a Psychology minor, bought a house in Maine and just started a job working at a dental office in Portland! I am planning to apply to dental school this year.

Emily West Geary: I graduated from UVM On May 21 with a BA in English and a BS in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Special Ed. I have recently started a Graduate Fellowship at Merrimack College for my M.Ed.

At the beginning of the year, the PTO asks each HA family to consider making donation to the PTO through the Annual Appeal. This year was very successful and families generously donated to the PTO, which allowed us to fund all of these wonderful items and experiences. The PTO's mission is to provide enrichment for students and the HA community. This year, we were able to provide a variety of fantastic items and guest speaker programs. This would not be possible without the generosity of HA families and we are thankful for the continued support and generous donations. Thank you to the parent volunteers, those who attended & supported PTO events all year long and each family who donated to this year's Annual Appeal.

Thank you for helping make this year a huge success! - Amanda Lawrence, President, HA-PTO
