1993Young Mothers for Young Women is established. It is the fi rst support service for young parenting mothers & the start of Micah Projects’ family support program
1994A steering committee is formed to establish Project Micah. Foundation members are from St Mary’s Community
1995After 2 years of community consultation Project Micah Inc is formed as a not for profi t incorporated association
Inaugural Christmas Hampers for families. Now an annual event
Community Access & Support Service (CASS). The fi rst outreach van to people sleeping rough & intoxicated on the streets
Funding is received from Department of Justice Victims of Crime program to support people abused in institutions as children
First government funding for Project Esther which began in 1994
YMYW Drop in Day begins
Project Micah o� cially changes its name to Micah Projects Inc
Community consultation process is undertaken in response to a request from Disability Services to house & support women with severe disability
Individual support packages are taken up which leads to the development of ROMIGA & the Social Inclusion Program which continues to grow & develop
Esther Trust is formed to support ex-residents from Queensland church & state-run institutions
Pilot program begins supporting people in inner-city boarding houses
Forde Inquiry announced by Hon Anna Bligh MP
Project Micah supports people to submit & present to the Inquiry
Queensland Apology to those abused in Queensland Institutions during their childhood
Millennium Arts Homeless Project on people sleeping rough at Kurilpa Point. 83 housed
More than Just a Roof A study of family homelessness with a consortium of social justice organisations
Emerging practice: Housing First
First Moonlight Magic Dinner Dance: now the social event of the year in Brisbane’s social calendar
Homelessness Hub is opened by BHSC with co-located partners including Murri Watch, Centre Care SWBCOP & Brisbane Boarders
Charter for Redress is presented by HAN
Micah Homelessness Services is formed to build integrated responses to addressing homelessness

Historical Abuse Network is established
Roberta, Michelle & Geraldine (ROMIGA), move into their new home
Community Linking Program (now Resident Support Program) begins supporting people living in boarding houses & privately owned hostels
Homeless & Housing Fund is established with support from St Mary’s Community
Esther Centre opens as a Drop-in Centre for people who experienced abuse as children in out of home care
Campbell’s Club starts up as an integral part of Micah Projects’ RSP
Collaboration between YMYW & the Brisbane Domestic Violence Resource Centre on the impact of DV on young women & families
Memorandum of Understanding with Brisbane Council of Elders is signed
Tent City to Tenancy partnership houses people living in tents in South Brisbane
Mater Health Services locates a Clinical Nurse at the BHSC
Cross-cultural training introduced for all Micah Projects’ sta� with Tom Kirk, Indigenous Trainer

BCG Nurse Integration program begins in partnership with Mater Health Services & St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Brisbane
Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is adopted
RAP Committee supports annual events such as Close the Gap & Sorry Day
The Hive commences social support & inclusion services to Home & Community Care eligible people in South Brisbane
Tzu Chi & Micah Projects commence dental fairs for families experiencing disadvantage
