Maison Roche de Bellene Corton Grand Cru 2015[96] Wine Enthusiast – Cellar Selection – Vineyards on the hill of Corton are the source for this concentrated wine. The 30-year-old vines give density while also providing great fruit and juiciness. It is an impressive wine, richly endowed with black fruits and layers of dark tannins. Drink from 2025. February 2018

[92] Burghound A brooding and taciturn nose speaks of very ripe black berry, plum and warm earth scents that are trimmed in a subtle spice nuances. There is excellent volume and concentration to the big-bodied, intense and overtly muscular flavors that possess a velvety mid-palate that contrasts with the markedly austere, backward and very much built-to-age finish. This is borderline old school as the rusticity isn’t subtle yet it’s not so pronounced as to make this tough or chewy. Patience definitely would be advised. Issue #69 (1st Quarter, 2018)

Maison Roche de Bellene Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015

[97] Wine Enthusiast From one of the series of grand vineyards that line the slope of Gevrey-Chambertin, this powerful and dense wine is packed with tannins as well as beautiful fruit. Its red fruit flavors are supported by a solid structured and concentrated tannins. Despite this power, the wine is stylish, striking a fine balance between structure and fruit. Drink from 2025. February 2018

Maison Roche de Bellene Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes 2015

[89] Wine Spectator Alluring floral, strawberry and wild cherry flavors are the hallmarks of this delicate red. Vivid, showing a lean side on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2029. Web Only 2018

[87] Burghound A very pretty, elegant and floral red cherry and currant-suffused nose leads to nicely intense and energetic medium weight flavors that offer good minerality though the tightly wound finish is both youthfully austere and mildly drying. This is certainly very pretty but the balance isn’t what it could be and it’s not clear that bottle age will necessarily manage to harmonize this. As such I would be inclined to drink this on the younger side. Issue #69 (1st Quarter, 2018)

Maison Roche de Bellene Clos De La Roche Grand Cru 2015

[96] Wine Enthusiast This grand cru in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis is grandiose, packed with tannins and fruit, powered by both acidity and swathes of rich black cherries. Both juicy and densely structured, it will be impressive as it ages. Drink from 2025. February 2018

Maison Roche de Bellene Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, Champeaux 2015

[96] Wine Enthusiast This grand cru in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis is grandiose, packed with tannins and fruit, powered by both acidity and swathes of rich black cherries. Both juicy and densely structured, it will be impressive as it ages. Drink from 2025. February 2018

[90] Burghound A notably ripe nose reflects soft notes of menthol and a hint of cough drop character along with ripe red cherry, cassis and earth. There is very good richness to the round yet intense and reasonably well-de-lineated medium weight flavors and the minerality is more evident on the moderately structured finish. While this could be enjoyed young, it should reward a decade or more of cellaring if desired. Issue #69 (1st Quarter, 2018)

Maison Roche de Bellene Nuits-Saint Georges Premier Cru, Aux Boudots 2015

[96] Wine Enthusiast A near-neighbor of Vosne-Romanée, this premier cru produces struc-tured wines such as this. The tannins and weight derive from the rich fruit as well as the spicy, smoky wood aging. It has power, black fruits, serious tannins and great concentration. Drink from 2022. February 2018

[91] Burghound – Best Buy – A reserved if not mute nose only grudgingly reveals its spice and earth-inflected aromas of very ripe poached plum, cassis and soft menthol nuances. There is good volume to the velvet-textured, round and delicious medium weight plus flavors that exude a discreet minerality on the impressively rich and sappy finish that is shaped by dusty and firm but largely buried tannins that should enable this slightly warm effort to age successfully for a very long time. Issue #69 (1st Quarter, 2018)

Maison Roche de Bellene Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2015

[93] Wine Enthusiast The typical firm, tannic structure of a Gevrey-Chambertin is very present in this young wine. The tannins are balanced with the juicy red-berry fruits, crisp acidity and minerality. Together these elements make an impressively dense wine that will age well. Drink from 2022. February 2018

[92] Wine Spectator An elegant style for Gevrey, displaying floral, cherry and raspberry flavors. Mineral and tobacco accents emerge, and this finishes with dusty tannins. Stays juicy and balanced throughout. Best from 2022 through 2035. February 2018

[89] Burghound – Best Buy – A somber array of both red and dark berries flashes floral, spice and earth nuances. There is good vibrancy to the delicious, round and nicely detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess reasonably good density while delivering fine length on the solidly complex and persistent finish. This is really quite good and it should only get better with 6 to 8 years of bottle age. Issue #69 (1st Quarter, 2018)

Maison Roche de Bellene Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes 2015

[90] Wine Enthusiast This concentrated and richly structured wine has good acidity as well as firm, solid tannins that support the red currant and red cherry fruits. It also has a dry core that will allow the wine to age. Drink from 2022. February 2018

[88] Wine Spectator Aromas and flavors of salted licorice and earth mark this broad, tactile red. Black cherry and plum notes follow up and the tannins leave a light burr on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2029. Web Only 2018

[90] Wine Spectator This is very spicy, with vanilla, sandalwood and clove notes playing against currant, cherry and smoke flavors. Dusty tannins coat the mouth as this exits lazily on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2030. February 2018

Maison Roche de Bellene Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru, Les Beaux Monts 2015

[95] Wine Enthusiast – Cellar Selection – This rich, sumptuous wine is both structured and generous. Bold red fruits give it weight, concentration and a good balance between acidity and ripe richness. It comes from a vineyard close to some of the greatest Burgundy grand crus, which explains the wine’s structure and potential. Drink from 2022. February 2018
