Present the 15th Annual Educational Symposium

Sponsored by Discovery Education

Superintendents are the key to leading a successful transition to digital instruction, a must have for all students to be college and career ready. Yet, superintendents also face the R3 challenge — that is, leading that transition in a climate of rules, regulations and of course, a call for more rigorous in-

struction. So, what are the keys to success? This year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Karen Beerer, will address these areas!

Tuesday, October 27, 2015 The Educational Symposium is a one day annual conference held in conjunction with the New Mexico School Super indents Association Annual Retreat. Registration is still open, but filling up quickly. Register today at www.ces.org/events.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Fundraising Walk

Albuquerque, NM

Saturday, October 24th @ 8am

Over the past NINE years CES has participated in the American Cancer Society’s MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER fundraising walk.

Breast cancer will touch ONE in eight families and may have already touched someone near to you.

This year alone 513 visits were made to breast cancer patients by the Reach to Recovery Volunteers and 648 trips taking cancer patients to treatment were provided by American Cancer Society Road to Recovery volunteers and other transportation programs.

Come support TEAM CES during our PINK WEEK, October 19-23!

Wednesday, October 21st we will be holding a Frito Pie/Bake Sale! We also have Breast Cancer Awareness goodies and a Raffle!

Thank you for your Support!

In a perfect world the building you need to renovate is vacant. In a perfect world the building you need to renovate can be tak-en out of service for 60 days and the community barely notices. Sad part is we don’t live in a perfect world.

Dona Ana County recently found out how imperfect this world can be when they determined that the Dona Ana County Health Department Building could no longer function the way it is. Stucco that is in dire need of repair makes a building unat-tractive and in some cases dangerous if it is pitching off and landing in large chunks near the entries to the building. This building fit the bill for exterior renovation and the county could wait no longer. They turned to Classic Industries of Las Cruces for help.

Classic Industries has been serving the Las Cruces Community for many years and became a CES vendor in 2013. Their general contracting expertise made them a great fit for this project. A site visit revealed that the stucco was in desperate shape and the substrate was beginning to get damaged due to water penetrating behind the stucco. In addition to the failing stucco Classic Industries also had to take into account how to keep the building up and functioning yet get the work done. They had to take into account temporary walk-ways, netting to catch debris as they worked high above customers head while removing the loose stucco, and methods of capturing debris and keeping it away from the public. All of these challenges were addressed in their detailed proposal and Dona Ana County got to pick and choose which features they deemed were critical to the success of the project.

Within the next 60 days the county will be able to fully return the building to service and they will once again have a building that is func-tional, looks pristine, and one that will be a continuing value to the community. Classic Industries will have a project that they are proud of and loads of experience with how to deal with the public and keep them safe from falling debris all the while keeping the building open for business.
