• The WWII Monument is a reminder of the allies’victory over Japanese residence.

• Jalan Roda in the Chinese district is a unique placewhere all people of all sort of life meet and chitchat (basic coffee stalls, overall not very clean).

• One of the oldest Chinese temple in East Indonesiawhich is known as Ban Hin Kiong temple, locatedat Panjaitan road (centre of Chinese population).

Pinaras Waterfall

• Located a few kilometer west of Tomohon town with 43meters high (141 feet). Quiet, located in a lush forest,requires 250 steep steps to get down and they can beslippery near the waterfall.

Tu’Nan Waterfall

• Located at Talawaan Vilage, 35 km west of Tomohon Town. The fall has an height of 85 m surrounded by lush green trees. It is somewhat more impressive than Pinaras, but more touristy and the pathway is not good.

• Museum Pinawetengan about Minahasa culture. Collection comprises traditonal dress, crafts and also the local instrument “bamboo clarinets”. It has further the It has the biggest trumpet in the world displayed . Dances can be organized here in one of the Wale. It is a bit commercial with craft shop and coffee shop. One of the best exhibition is actually the drug abuse museum as part of the site. This however, is probably not suitable for tourists, yet great for special interest groups!

Kacang Village

• Kacang “peanut” village located at Kawangkoandistrict, which is known for production of their peanut roasting (Kacang sangrai).

• Mainly consisting of small shops, not really interesting.

Cooking classed can be arranged (ideally small GIT) in a simple hut at the foot of Mt. Mahawu. Usually combined with a trek in the surroundings at Mt. Mahawu.

• Watu Pinawetengan is an ancient stone, shaped like a table. Itmeasures 4 m long and 2 m high and is one of remnants left by theMinahasan Tribes where they negotiated the territorial division,unification, peace, and war against their enemies.

• 18 golden Lohan statues lining the way depict sinners returning tothe right path. From the 9th story of the towering pagoda youthere’s a 360 degree view into the highland surroundings andMahawu and Lokon volcanos. At the turtle toss a coin trying to hita bell with rotating ring and fulfil one wish determined by thestanding position: wealth, luck, fame, longevity, and happiness.

Japanese Caves

• The caves were built by the Japanese army duringWorld War II for the storage of food and armor andas shelter and hideouts. They are at severallocations in the highlands. However, they arenowadays collapsing, and have been locked.

• Beautiful large lake of 48 square kilometers. Aquacultureand restaurants along the shore. 2 hours leisure cycling ispossible or longer cycling options to make a full round.

• Located not far from Tondano Lake, villager use the raw material of clayin their land to make some traditional pottery works like pots, a set ofsmall round-table and chairs, and some other things. Often the latter isused for GIT, but it can be suitable for FIT as well.

Mt Lokon (active travelers)

• Mount Lokon has a flat and craterless top. Its active crater islocated on its slope, mid way to the top, named "Tompaluan"crater.

• Physical fitness and sturdy shoes with good profile required. Nowarm clothes required.

Mt. Mahawu (leisure travelers)

• Mt. Mahawu is capped with 180 m wide and 140 m deep crater withtwo pyroclastic cones in the northern flanks. A small explosiveeruption was recorded in 1789 and in 1994.

• There is purposed built stairs to get the crater.

• Woloan wooden house production located at Woloanvillage. It is just worth a short stop – the houses arealready quite modern. No activity on Mondays.

Tomohon market and “pasar extreme”.

• Tomohon market is a colorful and bustling market with lots ofvegetables, fruit and flowers. Beautiful to see.

• The meat section will be managed carefully on the spot by guides.

There is a very high biodiversity in Tangkoko National Park, and apart from the famous CelebesCrested Macaque and the cute Tarsier, there are 127 mammal, 233 bird and 104 reptile andamphibian species, among them also the Sulawesi bear and dwarf cuscus and birds such as theknobbed hornbill, Sulawesi hornbill and maleo.

• The Celebes crested macaque (Macaca nigra), also known as the crested black macaque, Sulawesi crested macaque, or the black ape, is an old world monkey that lives in the Tangkoko reserve, northeast of the Sulawesi (Celebes), as well as on smaller neighboring islands.

• Locally called as Yaki or Wolai, It lives typically in groups of 5-20 animals.

• Looks like a miniature version of „King Kong“

• The spectrum Tarsier or Tarsius Tarsier is the smallest primate in the world.• Indonesian Tarsier less specialized than the Philippine tarsier or Horsfield's tarsier; for example,

it lacks adhesive toes.• Said to be the one of the most loyal representatives in the animal kingdom, living in monogamy

and that when one of a pair dies, the other will follow within days.• The average lifespan in the wild is thought to be 10 years. Tarsiers give birth to single offspring.

Young tarsiers are born furred, and with open eyes, and are able to climb within a day of birth.• Tarsiers from Sulawesi living in small family groups, and tend to be extremely shy animals.
