Evaluation Piece: You are applying for funds for your research. Your research has to be about a specific organelle disease. You are required to submit: 1) Resume The resume needs to be tailored to the job. Think about what you include in a resume when applying to a job in a specific field (ex: business, medicine, engineering, research, pharmacy…). Recruiters look for relevance and specificity. Look at the resume template and example as guides. We will discuss in class what is expected. 2) One-page report about the disease focusing on using and extending what we covered in class . This report needs to include the organelle affected, its normal function, and its composition. It needs to show how the disease is diagnosed, what are some technological tools or recent biological approaches used to track the diseases (think of scientific research development and news), what are some treatments or ways currently found/used to target the disease and how, and why are you applying for funding. This piece aims to focus on developing your investigation and research skills. Make sure when writing, keep it simple and understandable. Do not copy and paste paragraphs that you do not understand. The point is to ease understanding and give a one-page summary report about that organelle disease. Note: use what we talk about in classes (slides, images, videos, links…), ask the librarian (these are some good books there), and use Internet.
