How is dust measured?Dustexposureismeasuredasaconcentration,i.e.milligramsofdustpercubicmeterofair:mg/m3.Exposurelimitsarealsodefinedinmg/m3. The various dust components the workeris exposed to are measured. In this way, the actual dust concentration in the air that the operator breathes can be measured exactly. In order to deliver reliable values, the measurement hastobecarriedoutoveranextendedtimeperiod.Usually,dustexposureisgivenasthe“time-weighted average” (TWA), so that different periods of exposure time are accounted for. The total time is the 8-hour work day.
