Certification Participants who complete the program receive Yoga Teacher Certification from the
Himalayan Institute Teachers Association and are also eligible to apply for the 200-
hour level of Registration (RYT) with Yoga Alliance.
Most participants complete their certification within six months of the Training
program, with a maximum of two years allowed. After certification is granted, a
variety of continuing education seminars, as well as a 500-hour advanced training,
are available to further refine teaching skills.

200-Hour Certification Requirements
Attendance
Attendance at all components of the Teacher Training Intensive is required for certification
and to meet Yoga Alliance requirements. Please consult with the HITA Coordinator prior to
missing any portion of the Training and request a copy of our Attendance Policy. Missed
contact hours will require additional assignments for completion of certification.
Proctored Exams
Hatha Yoga & Relaxation/Meditation Exam
You will be given an opportunity to complete the proctored exam at the end of the Teacher
Training Intensive.
Written Assignments
1. Meditation Journal Report
2. Self-Evaluation of Teaching Summary Report
Detailed instructions on these assignments will be included in the Training Manual which will
be distributed on the first day of the Training Intensive. These assignments are to be
completed after attending the Training Intensive.
