MKG-HP-0001 April 2017

The two year Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) helps develop the skills and confidence of parents or carers with children about to start school.

A HIPPY mentor will enable parents or carers to recognise how a child learns, and what they can do to create a positive learning environment in their home.

They will be encouraged to understand more about child development and be more involved in their own child’s learning.

Additionally, regular group gatherings will give parents and carers the opportunity to connect with other families and learn about their community.

By fostering a love of learning the program builds selfesteem and enables children to start school confident and prepared.

Who can use this service

HIPPY Orange is open to families who live in Orange and have a child who will be commencing school the following year.

When it is offered

HIPPY Orange is located at Marang Gunya in Orange. The trained HIPPY mentor visits the family fortnightly and delivers the program to parents or carers in their homes.

Where it is available

HIPPY is open to families who live in Orange.

Accreditation

LiveBetter is accredited for ISO 9001:2015.

Payment

There is no cost for HIPPY as the program is fully funded through the Australian Government’s Department of Social Services. Families taking part in HIPPY receive a set of activity packs, story books and other materials designed to help their child’s learning.
