Prahlad Saved from Harnakash

• Harnakash meditated so much that he was granted a boon that he won’t be killed by man or beast, with a weapon or without a weapon, during day or night, during hot weather or cold weather, indoors or outdoors, on earth or in the sky.

• He became powerful and was very egoistic and cruel

• He asked everyone to worship him and anyone worshiping God would be killed

• His wife also meditated a lot and later gave birth to Prahlad

• Prahlad absorbed all spiritual wisdom

• Prahlad worshiped God only and refused to worship Harnakash

• Even his mother was not able to change his mind

• He was locked in a cell for sometime

• He was thrown off a mountain but was not injured

• Harnakash then asked him to touch a very hot pillar

• He came close to the pillar and prayed and then hugged it. He felt it cool as water. It did not burn him

• Immediately a creature came out of nowhere and grabbed Harnakash and killed him

• The time was dusk, the place was on the threshold of the palace, the creature was half man half lion with huge claws

Ajaamal the Brahmin• Ajaamal was born to a Raaj Purohit and a high caste within already high caste of Hindus i.e.

Brahmins. • Ajaamal was brought up in a very religious atmosphere and was provided with Sanskrit

education from early age. By the time he reached the age of maturity, he became well-versed in all 4 Vedas, 18 Puraanas and other important religious books of those times.

• He further told him to never go in the southern part of the city because that part of the city was full of scoundrels and prostitutes.

• His life continued in normal fashion until that fateful day when he had to go to the southern part of the city.

• He became a regular visitor to this Ganika (prostitute, bad woman).• The king decided to banish him from his kingdom• Great calamities befell on both Ajaamal and the prostitute. They moved out of the kingdom and

starting leading a very destitute life.• Anyway, later in his life he had a son and the day his son was born, some saadhu jan (holy men)

came to his house to seek refuge from bad weather. • They told him to name his latest born son "Narayan". Obeying what the saadhoo said, Ajaamal

named his son - Narayan. • When his death time came close, Jammdoots started visiting him and he could see them

approaching him. • Dharam Rai confirmed that whoever does kirtan or Naam, Jammdoots are not allowed to get

near them. He was calling his son whose name was Narayan – which means God • suix kY jm ky dUq nwie qyrY Cif jwih ]• So Ajaamal, who was maha-paapi, went to heaven

Namdev ji at a temple which rotated

• That temple is still rotated as can be seen at the site. In

most Hindu temples, the water pool ("kuub") is normally located at the

front of the mandir; at this site, it can be seen at the back of the temple.

Further, most temples face east since that is the most auspicious direction

in the Hindu faith as the Sun rises from the East and the Sun is considered

the destroyer of darkness and the giver of life. The Aundha Nagnath

temple faces West.
