The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.
— Theodore Roosevelt
A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.
— Douglas MacArthur
Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out.
— Stephen Covey

THE TYPICAL PROJECT PLAN
IT Head for an educational institution run by a large Industrial Group as part of its CSR initiatives...Challenge FacedThe institution was looking to roll out an educational enterprise IT platform. Lack of time and subject expertise contributed to delay in the roll out by three years. The institute was in desperate need of a professional with global exposure of the enterprise platform implementation and management.
Solution ProvidedSince the platform was first-of-its-kind, candidates with experience from the US who were willing to return to India, were identified. The cycle of closure was completed in 6 weeks including relocation of the candidate from the US. Of the 3 identified candidates, the best fit was presented to the client. A one-year feedback told that the candidate along with the IT service provider had successfully rolled out the enterprise platform and had also initiated the development of new applications for the institute.
DurationPost the negotiations, the candidate joined within 4 weeks from the date of offer.
An industrial product manufacturer was migrating into auto component manufacturing...
Challenge FacedThey had signed a joint venture with a global technology major. Entry into the market was lucrative with very few players present and a monopoly play of a single player with significant market share. The JV ensured that the technology was differentiating and bringing significant value to the end user. The migration into the auto components segment from industrial products posed a challenge in hiring Heads of Sales, Services, Training, HR, IT, and a CFO; and the task was mandated to TMI.
Solution ProvidedSince the competition was monopolistic, the talent pool was created from a mix from the competition and related/ancillary industries with similar market structures. The client, today, enjoys a premium brand value and is seen as the most successful growing auto component companies in the industry. The Sales Head was from consumer durable services industry from the competition; CFO from a mid-sized 500 crore-turnover organization; HR Head from a consumer company; and IT Head from a large industrial group. This gave the team a good balance of industry and experience.
DurationThe entire leadership team was hired in 12 weeks.
The client is a diversified Industrial Engineering Group worth INR 1,500 crores. They focus on commodity products and value-added product businesses...
Challenge FacedThe client foresaw a vision of 1 billion revenue by 2020 and required a leadership talent to be hired. TMI was mandated to recruit a Business Head for an auto component business with a turnover of 120 crores.
Solution ProvidedTalent was mapped from companies based in Tamil Nadu, it being the hub for auto components. 6 people were identified. 3 were from auto component companies with a turnover of more than 1000 crores and 3 from a turnover of less than 400 crores. The mix would ensure finding talent to relate to the company’s vision. The Business Head was hired from an auto component manufacturer with less than 400 crores to operate efficiently to achieve the vision. While the client wanted the candidate to be placed in the headquarters, TMI convinced them to relocate to Chennai. This ensured that the head had easy access to a wider customer base in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka or North India. The candidate was finally placed in Chennai, and who has efficiently shown a growth of 25%.
DurationThe search was completed in 8 weeks.
