DIVINE SUMMARY

STEP ONE:The Book of Genesis Chapter 1 verse 26 to 27: Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle (all animals: domestic and wild), and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” – RSVCommentary: This is testimony to the truth that God is creator of the universe and everything that is in it. God has deliberately drafted all the on-goings of the universe, placing mankind at the helm; entailing control not just of the earthly resources and living creatures, but also of our own individual lives. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians Chapter 1 verse 11 states “In Him we also were made (God’s) heritage (portion) and we obtained an inheritance; for we had been foreordained (chosen and appointed beforehand) in accordance with His purpose, Who works out everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His (own) will.”- Amplified Version (AMP)

STEP TWO:The Book of Genesis Chapter 3 verse 10: And he (Adam) said, “I heard the sound of Thee in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” – RSVCommentary: God’s desire is for mankind to display obedience to His will and command. And this is only attainable when mankind learns to be attentive to and apply the Word of God. However, mankind tends to willingly (or unwillingly) stray from God and allow external forces outside of God to influence pursuance of own desires. Yet, even as we disobey, God is always there with us, desiring to put us in right standing with Him. Though omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient, God expects mankind (in own capacity) to own up to actions. The Book of Genesis Chapter 18 verse 21 says “I am going down to see if their actions are as wicked as I have heard. If not, I want to know.”- NLT

STEP THREE:The Book of Jeremiah Chapter 29 verse 11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – RSVCommentary: At creation, God has never intended for humans to undergo a life of great struggle and unbearable suffering, but that of spiritual, physical and material prosperity. The Book of Isaiah Chapter 57 verses 18 to 19 reassures mankind “I have seen what they do, but I will heal them anyway. I will lead them. I will comfort those who mourn, bringing words of praise to their lips. May they have abundant peace, both near and far,” says the Lord who heals them. – NLT

STEP FOUR:The Book of numbers Chapter 27 verses 15 to 17: And Moses said to the Lord, “Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation. Who shall go out and come in before them, leading them out and bringing them in, that the congregation of the Lord may not be as sheep which have no shepherd.” - AMPCommentary: Throughout Biblical history, God has always chosen men and women (prophets; kings and devout persons alike), and in some instance a talking donkey (The Book of Numbers Chapter 22 verse 30), to mediate between Him and mankind. Yet, God still had a master-plan according to several prophecies in the Old Testament section of the Bible. The Book of Micah carries one of the prophecies and reads “When He comes, He will rule His people with the strength that comes from the Lord and with the majesty of the Lord God Himself. His people will leave in safety because people all over the earth will acknowledge His greatness, and He will bring peace.” - GNB

STEP FIVE:The Gospel According to John Chapter 3 verse 16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. – RSVCommentary: And this is the truth that requires to be shared amongst the non believers, otherwise the life here on earth without Jesus is like that of a dog that tries to bite its own tail, or that of chasing shadows, or attempting to catch the wind. The Book of Hosea Chapter 4 verse 6 warns “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…” – King James Version (KJV)

STEP SIX:The Gospel According to Mark Chapter 6 verse 34: As Jesus landed, He saw a great crowd waiting, and He was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things – AMP

Page 4: His Story Mission Project Guide

Commentary: Being sheep without a shepherd is just a clear demonstration of an empty, purposeless and defeated life. Just as the devil is clueless to the thoughts and ways of the Mighty God, his mission now is to attack the human spirit by planting his destructive seed in human hearts and subsequently corrupting the human mind, rendering it ineffectual. Enter Jesus. The Gospel According to John Chapter 10 verse 10 to 11 “The thief only comes to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays His life down for the sheep.” – Revised Standard Version

STEP SEVEN:The Gospel According to John Chapter 1 verse 29: The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God, who, takes away the sin of the world!” – NLT Commentary: Not only is Jesus the Spiritual Being that saves and removes an individual from a life of sin, making provision for eternal life. Not any amount of silver and gold, or the blood of thousands of animal sacrifices could once and for all cleanse mankind of all sin. Yet God, in His awesomeness, saw it fit to offer His Son, Jesus, whose blood proved to be enough to redeem us from all sin. The Gospel According to John Chapter 19 verse 30 reads “When Jesus had tasted it (cheap, sour wine), He said, ‘”It is Finished”’ Then He bowed His head and released His Spirit.” - RSV

STEP EIGHT:Paul’s Letter to the Romans Chapter 10 verse 9 TO 10: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For, it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. – NLT Commentary: Apart from learning that Jesus is the Saviour of mankind from the curses of this world, here it is further revealed that Jesus provides the platform of wisdom required by mankind to live a prosperous and fulfilling life here on earth, subsequently inheriting the right to be a child of God to eternity. The Gospel According to John Chapter 3 verses 34 to 36 “For He is sent by God. He speaks God’s Words, for God gives Him the Spirit without limit. The Father loves His son and has put everything into His hands. And anyone who believes in God’s son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment. “- NLT

STEP NINE:The Gospel According to Matthew Chapter 11 verse 28: Come to Me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. – RSVCommentary: Jesus is the life-giving Spirit, one should learn to trust in Him and pin all hope in His ways, following through on His wise counsel, while patiently waiting on Him to reveal solutions and subsequently delivering the promise upon one’s life. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians Chapter 2 verse 1 encourages “Your life in Christ makes you strong, and His love comforts you.”- GNB

STEP TEN:The Gospel According to Matthew Chapter 6 verse 33: But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. – RSVCommentary: God has created mankind in His Own Image. For continual appropriation of God ordained blessings upon one’s life, an individual is best advised to remain aligned to the will of God by way of maintaining focus on the things of God. The Gospel According to John Chapter 15 verse 7 to 8 command “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted. When you produce much fruit, you are my disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” - NLT

STEP ELEVEN:The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 30 verses 20a&b: You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying Him, and committing yourself firmly to Him. This is the key to your life. – NLT Commentary: The secret key to one’s sustainable success has been revealed. It is to remain steadfast in the faith of God, i.e. standing firm and being unshakeable in the promises of God. Then, all shall remain well with an individual. Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy Chapter 3 verse 5 warns “They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them Godly. Stay away from people like that.”- NLT

STEP TWELVE:Paul’s Letter to the Romans Chapter 10 verse 11: The Scripture says, “No man who believes in Him (who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him) will (ever) be put to shame or be disappointed.” - AMPCommentary: Because Jesus is wisdom, it entails that an individual aspiring to walk in the righteousness of Jesus, will experience purposeful and worthwhile plans that are gradually revealed in due season. The Gospel According to Mark Chapter 13 verses 32 to 33 says “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things

Page 5: His Story Mission Project Guide

will happen, not even the Angels in Heaven or the Son Himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard. Stay alert!” – NLT

STEP THIRTEEN:The Book of Joshua Chapter 1 verse 8: This Book of the Law (The Bible – Book of Instruction) shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. – RSVCommentary: Mankind should be still and know that God, being the author of everything, has an immediate (for our lives now) and eternal (after earth life) story written for each and every one of us. When one listens to His Voice (The Bible), an individual is always certain to encounter wondrous revelation about one’s time here on earth. Therefore, one is encouraged to diligently search and seek the Voice of God. The Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verses 20 to 21 states “My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the centre of your heart.” – AMP

STEP FOURTEEN:The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 30 verse 19: Today, I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on Heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live. – NLT Commentary: The power to determine the course of one’s life has been placed in each and every one of us. Because we have a natural inclination to failure, God even reiterates His desire for us to choose Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, a clear demonstration of God’s unfailing love for mankind. The Book of Proverbs Chapter 4 verse 23 says “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.” – AMP

STEP FIFTEEN:The Letter from James Chapter 2 verse 17: So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. – NLT Commentary: The Spirit of the Living God will go before an individual, leading and guiding one into attempting greater efforts for the Kingdom of God. So, when faith is in right standing with God, it should prompt action, good actions. The Book of Zechariah Chapter 4 verse 6 says “You will succeed, not by military might or by your own strength, but by My Spirit.”- GNB

STEP SIXTEEN:The Gospel According to Luke Chapter 10 verse 2: And He (Jesus) said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.” – RSVCommentary: We are saved to serve. When an individual has received Christ as Lord and Saviour, the next step is to grow in the knowledge of Christ in order to introduce Christ to the lost, spreading His gospel, sharing the faith and showing the love of God. The Gospel According to John Chapter 13 verses 14 to 15 instruct “if then, your Lord and Teacher (Master), have washed your feet, you ought (it is your duty, you are under obligation, you owe it) to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you this as an example, so that you should do (in your turn) what I have done to you.”- AMP

STEP SEVENTEEN:The First Letter from John Chapter 1 verse 16: By this we know love; that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. – RSVCommentary: Awareness that this life is not one’s own, but that it belongs to Jesus, enables an individual to attempt greater exploits for the Kingdom of God. Paul’s Letter to the Colossians Chapter 1 verse 16 confirms “for in Him all things were created, in Heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities – all things were created through Him and for Him”. - RSV

STEP EIGHTEEN:The Gospel According to Luke Chapter 10 verse 3: Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. – RSVCommentary: Spreading the Good News of Christ is to be exercised with the love received from God, embracing and dealing with all the persisting challenges that one encounters along the way. The Letter from John Chapter 4 verse 4 reassures that “But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets (persecutors or tormentors) because the spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world.”-GNB

Page 6: His Story Mission Project Guide

STEP NINETEEN:The Book of Psalms Chapter 127 verse 1: Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. – RSVCommentary: The wisest king in the Old Testament advises in the Book of Proverbs Chapter 16 verse 3 to “commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established”. The Psalmist in the Book of Psalms Chapter 37 verse 5 adds “commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will act”; and to sum it up, going one verse before, the Psalmist had exhorted “take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”. – RSV

The above are highlights of the Biblical principles that, when embraced and adhered to, produce desired Godly effect to one’s life, all to the glory of Almighty God.

Page 9: His Story Mission Project Guide

The Book of Isaiah Chapter 55 verse 11 “…so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”- RSV

His Story Mission is embarking to carry out the following activities: 1. Spreading the gospel of Christ through working with families, individuals and society, by performing its role in adhering to the Great Commission as set by Christ Jesus. 2. Encouraging individuals, families and society to form home cell groups and attend church services on a regular basis at a church of their choice. 3. Building communities that act as a central point in offering counseling, encouragement, Bible Study, Church services and moral support to members of society and to be able to demonstrate the empowering effect of the Word of God. 4. Communities in developing countries are inundated with devastating effects of HIV + AIDS giving rise to child headed families. Families like these require moral and financial support, and the gospel of Jesus, to give them hope and to know that God can provide for them. 5. Helping society with understanding how the Word of God gives direction on income generating activities to ensure they are able to sustain their daily requirements without resorting to other means like prostitution, theft, gambling or any other unscrupulous means. 6. Demonstrating to society the liberating effect of the Word of God as opposed to pursuance of get-rich-quick schemes to support family livelihoods, a method that offers little or no hope going into the future. 7. In developing countries, the gospel is not being preached in the remotest of areas due a number of reasons, mainly: lack of basic education, road networks, cultural and traditional beliefs, other religious practices, factors such as war-zones. Hence the areas are being neglected. Everyone needs to hear the gospel and be given a chance to give their life to Jesus, and His Story Mission intends to make inroads into such environments.8. The Churches, being different denominations world over, relies heavily on offerings and tithes that are received from congregations. However, these offerings and tithes are at most not substantial enough to meet the cost of the Churches, in many cases falling short of financing Church projects. His Story Mission, therefore, intends to help grow the already existing Church business precept in generating the funding for Gospel activity.

The Book of Isaiah Chapter 52 verse 15 “…for that which has not been told them they shall see, and that which they have not heard they shall understand”- RSV

BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION

The Book of Genesis Chapter 18 verses 20 to 21: So the lord told Abraham, “I have heard a great outcry from Sodom and Gomorrah, because their sin is so flagrant. I am going down to see if their actions are as wicked as I

have heard. If not, I want to know.” – NLT

In developing countries, a number of hardships have hit hard, leaving families stranded and unable to afford the most basic necessities like: healthcare; education; clothing; and food. Most rural and remote areas in developing countries are characterized by lack of clean water to drink, lack of infrastructure like roads, clinics, schools and Church buildings. Landlocked countries have little or no access to water bodies, making it very difficult to utilize irrigation facilities which in most cases are too expensive, if not impossible for the rural or remote area farmer. The rural and remote communities of developing countries survive basically on agriculture; and due to the current economic, political and environmental challenges that are being faced world over, the erratic rainfall patterns combined with lack of skill and inputs have made starvation a reality in rural and remote areas. RESULT: sinful activity is on the increase

Furthermore, HIV+AIDS has caused havoc in developing countries, leaving child headed or children living with a parent who is very sick, thereby, the burden is shifted to the children to provide for the whole family. This results in these children dropping out of school to concentrate on income

Page 10: His Story Mission Project Guide

generating projects like market gardening or subsistence farming which are a safer option. RESULT: Yet in worst cases these children resort to prostitution or other unscrupulous means.

The large population in developing countries lives in the rural and remote areas and are facing the challenges described above which implies that a large population of developing countries finds it difficult to care for their families. Thereby diluting the effort being made by a number of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOS), Christian organisations included, to try and alleviate the problems being faced by the rural and remote area people in developing countries due to the large number of people that NGOs have to care for. RESULT: Families continue to live in abject poverty, defeated and hopeless.

Developing countries have become war-zones. War is war, irrespective of its cause, and it leaves a trail of destruction, and unwarranted persecution of innocent people. RESULT: lives are lost, livelihoods exterminated, souls are broken, families are destabilized, and infra-structure is destroyed.

Developed Countries are putting trust into human intellect and perpetuating the false wisdom which is giving rise to worship of idols i.e. money, celebrities, lifestyle, possessions, individualism. There now exists an ever decrease in spiritual, moral and social values of the world population, which in turn are a serious threat to the life expectancy levels. Developed economies are the capital of moral decadence, a not so ideal example to the rest of the world which seem to model life around the trends set by developed countries. RESULT: The carefree attitude has seen an ascendency in prostitution, alcohol and substance abuse, selfishness, and crime of various natures.

Greed has gripped mankind, both in the developed and developing worlds, to the extent of engaging wicked practices in search of “silver and gold”. Powerful individuals are misusing their position in the name of building business empires, others resorting to crime in order to achieve their goals. The secular film-making industry and the various music genres have not helped. Hollywood style film productions and “alter ego” music lyrics have become the “Numero Uno” agents of the wiles of the devil, relentlessly leading God’s people astray. RESULT: human trafficking, modern day slavery, prostitution rings, child soldiers, rape, execution are on the ascendancy.

There is a growing emergence of “commercial gospel preachers”, claiming to possess healing and deliverance powers, enticing people to make cash seed offerings in order for the power to manifest. Thereby taking the glory away from God and having glory heaped upon selves. This being modeled around “Simon the Sorcerer: whom people claimed had the Great Power from God”, yet he used magic tricks to astonish crowds”; ref Acts of the Apostles Chapter 8 verses 9 to 24. RESULT: Individuals are being led into sin, merely by putting hope into man as opposed to Christ.

The Book of Zephaniah Chapter 1 verse 6 “And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the Lord’s guidance or seek my blessings.” – NLT

THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH DEFINED

Page 11: His Story Mission Project Guide

The Book of Jonah Chapter 3 verses 8 to 9: “… …and everyone must pray earnestly to God. They must turn from their evil ways and stop all their violence… … …Perhaps even yet God will change His mind and hold

back His fierce anger from destroying us.” – NLT

Christianity has proved to be the basis of any society world over and the role of the Church has proved over the years to be the main source of inspiration and has helped a great deal to shape the society the world over.

Several ideal features of the Church give it an advantageous position in working for sustainable development. This has resulted in the Church gaining trust and respect from the communities who view it as their source of hope and inspiration.

The Church is very familiar with peoples’ needs and serves the whole society and draws voluntary membership from all segments of the population. With these advantages, it has the potential for effective and speedy community mobilization and influence.

Any community can be identified to the local Church that they attend. Due to this, there is great need

for the Gospel to be preached to all corners of of the world. The Church plays a very critical role in outreach work that aims to serve communities spiritually, socially and physically.

Challenges: However the Church in various countries faces so many challenges due to the economic, political and

environmental challenges that the nations might be facing. There are very few organizations in the world that support Churches hence there is a need for funding in that area to ensure that the Church can continue playing its critical role of providing both, spiritual and physical needs to communities.

The Church, though firmly rooted in the communities and its presence and effect may be notable in the urban and accessible rural areas, is yet very rarely in remote ones that sometimes are beyond the reach of many.

Conclusion: Thereby, through the Church, we join forces with other Christian organizations in calling on the

Source of Life for restoration of righteousness to society, throughout the entire world.

INITIAL STRATEGY - ROLL OUT BRIEF

Page 12: His Story Mission Project Guide

The Gospel According to Matthew Chapter 9 verses 35 to 38 Jesus travelled through all the villages and towns of that area, teaching in the Synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And He healed every kind of disease and illness. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to His Disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.” – NLT

For this project to be embraced by society, in order for it to take off and be successful, the following is in consideration:

1. His Story Mission will: a) involve the community at all levels; b) carry out income generating projects; c) partner with organizations of similar objectives; d) engage with willing Donors.

2. The Mission Coordinator is diligently and purposefully pursuing income generating projects; book, theater and musical production will ensure in some capacity that the Mission is self-sustainable, rendering it possible to spread and effectively allocate own resource funding based on regular and expected income.

3. The Board of Trustees and Partners shall be involved in key decision making of the project to ensure transparency and allocation of funds. This instills a sense of project ownership in the local and international community, subsequently ensuring the continuation of activities in order to meet standing objective.

Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians Chapter 9 verse 24 to 27 “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So, run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should... NLT Version… verse 27

concludes, “I harden my body with blows and bring it under complete control, to keep myself from being disqualified after having called others to the contest…” – GNB
