The program consisted of lectures, discussions, visit of historical objects in the museums and in situ, as well as practical demonstrations of traditional woodworking practices.

Aims and contents of the workshop

A group of international specialists and scientists working with wood in the contexts of cultural heritage, archaeology, history, forest history, building history, historical literature, ethnology, wood science, dendrochronology, wood anatomy etc. met at the 4th workshop in Šentrupert, Slovenia. The workshop had an emphasis on beech-wood (and other hardwoods) with an objective to learn and discuss on traditional woodworking practices and use and how they could stimulate current and future sustainable use of wood.
