into the literary field. nd the late Dixie D. Jone' as a'so g writer nd w s kno n throu~ out this section of

Georgia, by h's .weet 81 ging. It has een known th this si1ging was as effective in revivals'as the preaching. lso, Prof. Pledger B. Jones is we~l known over Georgia by is ability for writing music dnd singing. Pledger B. Jomes was elected Representative in Paulding County and served 1930-1931. The form r enator .,'. Jones of th 38th enatoria1 District is ~ me ber of this church. Mr. Jon s is a very successful business an and h s con­tributed a lot to help make this c urch a success. Th late D.D. Jones \:..s a so of Vm. Jones, one of the founders,P.B. and B.~. Jones were gr ndsons.

,~ould like to me, tiOD some of the farnibles who have helped to rnc.ke this church a success. The illiams family, Descendant~ of E. Williams, one of the founders, so:, e of which are interested in churches in other com~unities.

Th York's, descendants of the ~.H. York, donater of the land. One is Mr. Glenn York, a very successful business man of Cedarto~n, Georgia. The Yorks were faithful to the church while living in this community. The Barnett ¥hite families; it has been said of Mr. fuite, he was a farmer, but when Saturday mo ning service time came he'd stop his work, hitch his team up and the whole family would attend churCh. One of his daughters, Mrs. Campie Ferguson is a mem­ber of this church now. The '.• and I • • Ferguson's families were descendeunts of the Barnett "fuite family. Th sa L. Whi te fal ily. There w~s never a more fai thful member than Uncle a White. The E•• Hunt family. the Locklear fo.milm s, the Tom Jacobs fa ily, t.le~ Uke Gore family, the J.F.G. Hutcheson's, the Barrett fa ily, the Partalns, ,I • .n.. and unt tartha Thomas, the 111 Penn family, toe ColI Lyle fu.mi ly. T ere are umbe.'s of others e' d I ike to mention, one being the late Mr~. Lee Clark of Rockmart, Geor~ia, who was d member of our church fo several ye rs. Her family graciously presented a lovely comu.union set, two collection plates, and some so.g books to the church, after her de~~h. other being the late Ira. nna Kiser Hoody who was born in North Dakota of Ger an descent, but moved to Georgia l1u made this church her home church and was a faithful member till her death. There is a lovelycrochet run er on the communion table made and prese, ted by ,1rs. ~ oody.

There are Mrs. Cora Hutcheson, Mrs. P.H. Harrison c1.nd Mrs. J •• Hannah of Rockmart, Geo giu, who are faithful membeis and love the church.

The greutest revival that I (the writer) . n remember w~s in 1906, during the pastorate of Rev. George D. Frazier, just after a tent meeting held here by the Free Methodist of tlanta. Numbers and numbers of people were saved and united ~ith the church, some of which are the leade~s of the church and community, now.

The noted Sam P. Jones was pastor in 1830-1883 while serving the old Vanwert church. humorous remark of r. jones while serving these chruc es, some one said, Mr. Jones, don't you know you'll starve to death serving thos c urches." He said, "~ 11 if I do, I won't 0 n it, I'll say I died with Typhiod fver."

e have no record of a unday chool in the early years, but al sure there hd.s bee one for 60 years. The present one has 52 nembers enrolled. J sse • ~organ, Supt.

The first wedding held i the church was November 25th 1943, that of Miss Jacquelyn Jones llgood to "'m. Orville Hart. The co::~remony preformed by eVe L.• Huct.abee. The Ii ttle chapel was smmple but lvely for a fLll weduing.

Then September 28, lS47, :iss Louise Ellison to Jean P. Poole. The ceremony was performed oy Rev. Gilber Steadham.

The next on ugust 24th, 1948, iss Betty McGarity was married to John Li sy. These rites performed by Rev. ,allace Wiggins. The last two weddings were he d in the new church.

Miss llgood, Miss McGarity, and Jean Poole are re~t­

grand children of the Jones and Dean Family.

ost of the s~and, gre' t gr~nd, and great great grand chil ren have been baptized in this church.

The present membership is 60. For the last 20 ye& s, _he church has met every oblig-tion. The pastors salary and all obligations has m re than doubled for the l~st few years, but this small me~berstiip is 100~ for its duties and respon­sibilities.
