History of Astronomy Project NAME
Due by the Beginning of Class
May 3, “A” Day (presenting this day)
May 4, “B” Day (presenting this day)
The History of Astronomy is all about the people and the technology that has enabled us to learn about the Universe around us. We will have a combination of a project about historical figures who have contributed to the field of Astronomy in a significant, scientific manner; and classroom content from Chapter 4 in your textbook. Bring your textbook and iPad to class every day. The content portion will be in class, after the project has been completed and presented.
Directions with Points/Scoring Guide: The Shadow Puppet Project counts 75 points; daily grade points (15 points each day) are separate; Approval process (10 points); and presentation points (20) are separate. Read and follow directions. It is the students responsibility to read and follow directions.
1. Must use the Shadow Puppet app, and have at least 14 frames, 1 title (includes your name, class section, date); 1 works cited (at least 3 complete, correct MLA references for the information and pictures you include); 12 frames about your person. (75 points) Include: a. Title Frame (includes your scientists’ name, your name, class section); 5 points (SLIDE 1) b. First, middle, last name of your scientist, their date of birthday, and death if not living, and a picture

3. This must be YOUR WORK, IN YOUR WORDS; no copying and pasting. Choose a scientist that interests you, have your person approved by Dr. Dillingham. MUST HAVE APPROVAL, this is required. Projects will not be accepted without approval. This is an INDIVIDUAL PROJECT.
4. Daily grades will reflect time-on-task observations, by me, in class. Each day, your Shadow Puppet will be submitted to Showbie, to demonstrate that you have made progress. Your score will reflect observations, work completed, following directions, on time submission of work to Showbie. (15 points each of 2 class days).
5. Present your Shadow Puppet to the class. (20 separate points; not presenting earns a zero for this category; LATE WORK NOT ACCEPTED).
6. Approval process (10 points separate). Once your form is signed, submit it to Showbie (Scientist Approval Form).

4. Daily grades will reflect time-on-task observations, by me, in class. Each day, your Shadow Puppet will be submitted to Showbie, to demonstrate that you have made progress. Your score will reflect observations, work completed, following directions, on time submission of work to Showbie. (15 points each of 2 class days).
5. Present your Shadow Puppet to the class. (20 separate points; not presenting earns a zero for this category; LATE WORK NOT ACCEPTED).

The History of Astronomy is all about the people and the technology that has enabled us to learn about the Universe around us. We will have a combination of a project about historical figures who have contributed to the field of Astronomy in a significant, scientific manner; and classroom content from Chapter 4 in your textbook. Bring your textbook and iPad to class every day. The content portion will be in class, after the project has been completed and presented.
Directions with Points/Scoring Guide: The Shadow Puppet Project counts 75 points; daily grade points (15 points each day) are separate; Approval process (10 points); and presentation points (20) are separate. Read and follow directions. It is the students responsibility to read and follow directions.
