Docker subnet settings. 3. Follow the process described below to

upgrade from v1.1.2 to v2.0.0.

1.1.2 2.0.0 Perform the below steps to upgrade the product.

To upgrade from v1.1.2 to v2.0, perform the following steps:

1. Choose one of the following from the installation media: Use the Appliance ISO to deploy an OVF (as in prior versions).

Use the Installer ISO to enable maximum control of the environment. The installer does not include Docker, an operating system, or a VM.

2. Mount the ISO image containing the v2.0.0 deployment. From the ISO image, retrieve the file: patch-two-exporter.tgz This file will be uploaded to the v1.1.2 VM and will be used to generate a backup file.

3. Connect via SSH session to the v1.1.2 deployment using the root credentials. The default credentials are:

User name: root Password: 3kO$Pe9dJyjy29Hai2mS

4. Transfer the patch-two-exporter.tgz file to the /root folder of the v1.1.2 deployment VM. This will require an external tool such as WinSCP if your machine is using Windows, otherwise wget or any relevant Linux command can be used.

5. In the SSH session to the v1.1.2 deployment, locate the patch-two-exporter.tgz file that was transferred to the VM. Run the shell command to unzip the file to a local location: tar zxf patch-two-exporter.tgz

6. Within the unzipped container you will see a bash script file called startUpgrade.sh Run the script with the command ./startUpgrade.sh The script output will be printed in the console. Make sure it completes without error. You will prompted for credentials for Storage Advisor and for Virtual Appliance Manager. For Storage Advisor, the default user name and password are sysadmin. For Virtual Appliance Manager: User name: service Password: Chang3Me!

7. Once the script runs successfully, a new file called exported.tar.gz is created in the current folder. This is the file that will be imported to the v2.0 deployment. Transfer this file to your local machine.

8. Deploy the v2.0.0 instance of Storage Advisor using either the OVF deployment or the installer. For installation instructions refer to the Hitachi Storage Advisor Getting Started Guide. The exact steps depend on the type of installation. Refer to one of the following procedures: “Installing Storage Advisor with the application installer”

© 2016 Hitachi, Ltd. All rights reserved.

RN-94HSA002-00 (May 2016)

“Installing Hitachi Storage Advisor in a DHCP environment” “Installing Hitachi Storage Advisor in a static environment”

9. Access the Virtual Appliance Manager in the v2.0.0 deployment. Open a browser and enter https://ip-address/vam in the address bar.

1. User name: service

2. Password: Chang3Me! 10. Restore the exported.tar.gz file in the v2.0.0 deployment using the Restore function in

Virtual Appliance Manager. The product VM will reboot automatically if the procedure was successful. Wait for the services to come back online. If more than an hour passes without the system becoming available again, attempt the procedure again or contact the HDS Customer Support.

11. Log into Storage Advisor to confirm the success of upgrade. 1. Log in at https://ip-address where ip-address is the IP address of the

Storage Advisor server. 2. Default user name: sysadmin 3. Default password: sysadmin

12. (Optional) Delete the powered-down the v1.1.2 Storage Advisor VM. However, it is recommended that you retain the VM for a short time in case an unforeseen circumstance results in the need for a rollback procedure.

Changing the root password immediately after installation

Change the root password immediately after installing Storage Advisor.

1. Either open an SSH connection to the VM or open the VMware console and press Alt+F2 to reach the console.

2. Login as root account using the default password: 3kO$Pe9dJyjy29HAi2mS

3. Run the command passwd root in the terminal. 4. Enter the new password when prompted.

Problem

713 The disk capacity in Hitachi Device Manager - Storage Navigator and Hitachi Storage Advisor might differ because Hitachi Device Manager - Storage Navigator shows model-specific physical capacity while Hitachi Storage Advisor shows actual usable capacity. Resolution: This is expected behavior. Disk capacity is shown as the total available capacity instead of physical capacity.

1051 When a request is submitted to create multiple parity groups only one parity group is created.

1417 Both FMD and SSD disks display as SSD.

1766 Volume deletion fails.

1813 The attach volume API does not provide a setting for empty Host Mode Option.

1889 The Initial Startup Wizard page for common settings and license are not populated with the current values from the storage system. Resolution: The Initial Startup Wizard workflow is no longer part of Storage Advisor.

2727 If there are a large number of jobs, the Jobs page may become slow or not load.

3019 Storage Advisor does not offer a way to activate or deactivate Active Flash for Tiered (HDT) pools.

3020 Storage Advisor does not receive SNMP v3 traps. There is no option for Storage Advisor to send SNMP v3 traps.

3799 Drop-down lists do not display all available options in the list.

4168 The calculations for “Thin free” and “Allocation to pools” are now based on total pool capacity instead of on total capacity.

4212 When compression is enabled on a parity group, it cannot be initialized. Resolution: Compression-enabled parity groups now have status AVAILABLE_PHYSICAL.

4995 Buttons on the Create Share/Export page do not display an active green background.

5000 Buttons on the Update Share page do not display an active green background.

Known problems

The following table lists known issues in the current release of Storage Advisor. The issues are listed in order by defect ID.

Problem Workaround/Comments

359, 1840 When adding or updating a fabric switch, if cinder is not able to reach the SSH of the switch, the Storage Advisor interface may become unresponsive.

If any of the switches that have been added to inventory are inaccessible, the command to add the connection may fail with the error code: “CinderConnectionControlFailureErrorMessage”.

Remove the inaccessible switch from inventory and run the command again or bring the inaccessible switch back into a functioning state.

Wait for some time and retry when the switch becomes reachable.

Problem Workaround/Comments

617, 946 HDT pool creation may encounter an error and fail with the message: “Updating automatic tier management on HDT pool failed.” When HDT pool creation fails it is possible that the pool was actually created but Storage Advisor failed to set up tiering on the pool. In this case the pool may not show in the Storage Advisor pool list for about 30 minutes.

Wait for 30 minutes and review the pool list. When the pool displays, either delete the pool and retry the HDT pool creation or go to Hitachi Device Manager - Storage Navigator and set up tiering on the pool.

737, 1985 In the Parity Group inventory page, the disk status information is missing.

Disk status is not available in Storage Advisor. Access Hitachi Device Manager - Storage Navigator from the Storage System details page to access this information.

If the “Create parity group” or “Delete parity group” request fails with a 3305-208016, contact the HDS Support Center.

877, 2998 Storage Advisor user interface may display only a spinning icon or a yellow triangle if a call fails with an Internal Server Error (500).

Service is down, resulting in the alert indicating an internal server error.

Contact the HDS Support Center.

979 Onboarding a storage system takes a while to complete.r

When onboarding a storage system for the first time, the system might take a while to show all the resource information and the capacity summary.

Wait for some time for the complete information to appear on the UI.

1970, 1973

Creation of a resource with a space in its name fails.

Remove any spaces and retry.

1349 Hardware alerts on the Monitoring tab are not updated unless the user navigates to another tab and back to the Monitoring tab.

Click another tab and then click the Monitoring tab to display updated alerts.

1737 An existing volume with UVM Host Mode cannot be attached to a server: An error is returned that the LUN path cannot be set.

No workaround. UVM Host Mode is not supported.

1738 A fabric switch has been added but does not display on the Fabric Switches page.

The job to create the fabric switch has not completed. Wait until the job is completed to view the switch.

1857 Spaces are stripped from the beginning and end of fields when entering SNMP configuration information.

No workaround.

2026 When loading large numbers of objects in the UI, the page slows down and eventually becomes unusable.

Reload the page and use the filtering functionality, if possible. If operations are necessary at scale, use the API instead of the UI.

Problem Workaround/Comments

2094 Hardware monitoring alerts display even though alerts for some components of a given type (for example, fans, pools, batteries) have cleared.

Alerts are only cleared when all components of a given type with errors in the storage system return to normal state. The exception is disks, each of which can have alerts cleared, even if other disks remain in error. Alerts for ports and processors are cleared together, so alerts are cleared only when all ports and all processors are normal.

2109 If one volume is attached to multiple servers, Data Protection Alerts does not launch the server inventory page to display all servers that are affected.

No workaround. Storage Advisor displays only one server detail page.

2134 Creating a pool from template fails, generating the message: “CAUSE: Resource group of specified ldev is different from the resource group of the other ldevs which belong to specified pool.”

If LDEV IDs are from different resource group from that of the parity group, pool creation fails with the foregoing error.

Access Hitachi Device Manager - Storage Navigator, make sure the LDEVs and parity group belong to the same resource group.

2143, 2149

No error is reported when the Change IP Address Utility is executed with a default gateway that is outside the subnet of the VM.

Onboarding an HNAS cluster

(via API) with incorrect IP causes 504 gateway timeout.

When running the utility, make sure that the specified default gateway is in the same subnet as the desired VM IP. Configuring an invalid gateway will result in your VM being inaccessible from another subnet.

Onboard HNAS with the correct IP address.

2157 An unexpected time lag is noticed in Storage Advisor while loading resources.

There is a lag when resources are created outside of Storage Advisor.

Wait a while for Storage Advisor to process the resources.

2177 Refcode mapping to SNMP trap description is not available.

Refcode mapping file is available in the product installation media.

2301 If a zone’s target port is disabled, the zone cannot be removed.

The target needs to be enabled and visible to the fabric to remove the zone. If the target cannot be enabled, manually delete the zone by logging on the switch.

2302 The supported firmware versions for Cinder are FOS v6.4 for Brocade and NOS 6.2(9) for Cisco. However, Cinder does not check for the firmware version when you add the switch.

Manually confirm that the firmware version is correct.

Problem Workaround/Comments

2387 If the zone being used is in inactive state, the volume attach request fails with error message "Error: Fibre Channel Zoning CLI error" and "Fibre Channel connection control failure: Failed adding connection for fabric".

Make sure Storage Advisor zones are activated. This issue occurs when a zone created through Storage Advisor is manually inactivated and Storage Advisor tries to reuse the zone for attaching a volume. Do not deactivate zones created by Storage Advisor or created with the naming convention used by Storage Advisor.

2496 If volume replication (in system or remote) is set up using tools other than Storage Advisor, then Storage Advisor will not be able to detect or manage the volume that participates in replication.

If replication is setup using a tool other than Storage Advisor, use the same tool to view and manage replication. As a general recommendation, use only Storage Advisor to setup and manage in-system replication.

2803 Zoning operations fail with the error "Failed to add zoning configuration Unexpected error while running command." if the switch has uncommitted transactions.

This happens if a network administrator is making configuration changes on the switch. Make sure that any changes being made on the switch are completed and committed.

2868, 3006

After a volume with snapshot protection is unprotected, the job to detach the volume fails with error “It is the last path of the Snapshot”.

Do not run restore or delete operation on snapshot while taking snapshot is in progress. If a snapshot is created after the snapshot schedule has been deleted from Storage Advisor, the snapshot can be deleted in Device Manager - Storage Navigator or through Command Control Interface (CCI).

Use Command Control Interface or Hitachi Replication Manager to view the status.

To take remediation steps, contact the Hitachi Support

Center.

2869 Expanding a Thin (HDP) pool by adding parity groups of different tiers does not change the pool to Tiered (HDT).

Install shared memory on the storage system before updating the pool from Thin to Tiered. Make sure there are licenses for Hitachi Dynamic Tiering and Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning.

2991 When a volume is in the process of being restored (RCPY state), subsequent scheduled snapshots may fail with error message "An unexpected internal error occurred. Contact System Administrator if this condition persists. Failure details: An order to the control/command device was rejected It was rejected".

Once the restore is complete, scheduled snapshots will resume without errors.

2994 An operation on the primary volume fails with "An unexpected error occurred: For input string: "-"".

Contact the HDS Support Center.

3002 While creating pools, the following error displays: “Unexpected Error: LDEV not blocked”.

Check if the pool was created. If it was created, check that it matches the creation parameters. If it does not match, the pool can be deleted through Storage Advisor. Then create the pool again.

Problem Workaround/Comments

3033 Onboarding a control processor results in the error “Switch has no active zoneset”.

Check the control processor; if it is active, create the zoneset.

If the control processor is not active, then the

IP address given was for the standby CP. To add a switch, onboard with the active Control Processor.

3066 During boot, the VMware console displays the warning "Welcome to emergency mode!"

Contact the HDS Support Center.

3067, 2986

After protecting a volume by using snapshot, the secondary volume status is shown as PSUS instead of SSUS. After protecting a volume by snapshot, the primary volume shows status of SUSPENDED.

Use Command Control Interface or Hitachi Replication Manager to view the status.

To take remediation steps, contact the Hitachi Support Center.

3077 Protecting a volume with and ID of “0” fails with error message: “No such device”.

Do not use data protection on a volume with an ID of “0”.

3079 Storage Advisor does not support storage arrays that have iSCSI modules installed.

If an array contains iSCSI modules, it cannot be managed by Storage Advisor.

3080 When trying to Clone Now a volume, an error occurs: "An unexpected internal error occurred. Contact System Administrator if this condition persists. Failure details: null"

This can happen when there are no pools with enough space to hold the volume's S-Vol. Check if all pools are full, and if they are, create a new pool of any type and tier.

3088 Attempting to restore a snapshot results in an error message: "An unexpected internal error occurred. Contact System Administrator if this condition persists. Failure details: An order to the control/command device was rejected It was rejected due to SKEY=0x05, ASC=0x26, ASCQ=0x00, SSB=0x2E10,0x004B on Serial#(420007) CAUSE : The snapshot pair cannot be restored. "

If a volume has a clone and snapshot, and the clone is in PAIR status, restoring on snapshot is not allowed. The workaround is to suspend the clone.

3091 Attempting to Clone Now a volume that is in a copy group created outside of Storage Advisor fails with the message: "Replication group is in invalid state. Contact HDS support center if required."

No workaround. Storage Advisor cannot protect a volume that is part of a copy group created outside of Storage Advisor.

Problem Workaround/Comments

3104 Clone creation fails with the following error: "Unexpected internal server occurred with SSB 0xB9A1, 0x2322"

Make sure there are program product licenses for Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning and Hitachi Dynamic Tiering and that the shared memory module is installed. Then, retry the operation.

3105 Intermittently, updating a pool from HDP to HDT results in job failure with the error: “Code = 1 , Data =3000”.

Disregard the job failure, as the pool has been updated to HDT successfully.

3119 Immediately unprotecting a volume after it is protected with Clone Now results in the error message: "It was rejected due to SKEY=0x05, ASC=0x26, ASCQ=0x00, SSB=0xB9A2,0x23EF on Serial#(410304)".

You will only be able to unprotect a volume that is in PSUS/SSUS status. If the status is COPY state, wait for a while and retry again.

3132 When the Storage Advisor VM is rebooted while a job is in progress, the job status is not updated. Jobs may remain in progress for an extended period.

If a job remains “in progress” or “failed” as a result of reboot, retry the operation again.

3281 User is unable to set up NTP server using storage system Initial Setup Wizard (Settings) screen.

Contact the HDS Support Center.

3464 SNMP traps are not received in Storage Advisor for HDP/HDT Pool capacity threshold violations.

No workaround.

4078 SNMP managers can be created in the API without any associated storage port.

Recreate the SNMP manager with a storage port entered.

4352 If the user deletes a secondary volume outside of Storage Advisor while the volume is in a Storage Advisor replication group, Storage Advisor will not be able to detect it.

Do not delete a secondary volume that participates in replication. Delete the replication pair before deleting the secondary volume.

4487 If a replication group has been set up using Storage Advisor and any snapshot volumes are deleted without removing the replication group first, an issue may occur where Storage Advisor still displays the deleted volume as part of a pair. It is also possible in this scenario for a subsequent volume created in Storage Advisor to be mistakenly assigned a status as a cloned volume.

Storage Advisor is designed to disallow volume deletion if that volume is part of a replication group. However, if volumes are deleted directly through the SVP console, the issue may still occur. It is not recommended to perform volume deletion operations outside of Storage Advisor, especially if they are part of a replication group. If issues result from such operations, contact the HDS Support Center.

4637 If a storage system lacks encryption controllers [non-encryption supported DKC], the encryption flag can be set to “true” during parity group creation without throwing an error. The parity group is created without out encryption set to “true”.

• The storage system must have an Encryption Disk Board.

• Encryption License Key must be installed.

• The Key Management Server must be configured on the SVP.

RN-94HSA002-00 (May 2016)

Defect ID

Problem Workaround/Comments

4649 Creation of an encrypted parity group fails with “Encryption License Key is not installed on array”.

Ensure that the Encryption License key is installed on the storage system.

4726 There is no automatic rollback if the Create File Pool operation results in failure.

Log in to NAS Manager. Navigate to the System Drive page and verify that System Drives are online. Create the file pool.

4748 When a storage system is not initialized for encryption, setting encryption=true during parity group creation does not throw an error message. The parity group is created without encryption enabled.

Log into Device Manager – Storage Navigator and check on the details for the Key Management Server.

4938 Defining host settings such as static IP, Docker subnet, NTP servers, etc. are not validated for formatting errors. If an invalid parameter is passed in, it may invalidate current network settings.

If Virtual Appliance Manager is still available after making the change, it may be used to pass a correct parameter in. If the network settings have become invalid and the VM is inaccessible, refer to the Hitachi Storage Advisor Getting Started Guide for instructions to run the ip-change command to redefine the network settings.

4940 When a tiered file pool is expanded, an underlying non-platinum block pool is expanded with capacity from the platinum tier.

No workaround. This issue is only seen when a tiered file pool is expanded with capacity from the platinum tier. The file pool expansion is successful. The underlying non-platinum tier block pool is expanded.

4945 The Expand File Pool operation does not allow the user to rename the pool or change the threshold without expanding the pool.

Update the name and threshold when expanding the pool.

4982 A server returns incorrect list of attached volumes where volumes on different storage systems have the same volume ID. If one such volume is attached to the server, the server shows all volumes (with same volume ID but on different storage systems) as attached to the server.

Log into Device Manager – Storage Navigator from the Storage System detail page to check the list of attached volumes.

4986, 4987

When using Virtual Appliance Manager (VAM) to disable or enable DHCP, the VM becomes unresponsive.

The VM requires a reboot of its guest operating system to complete the DHCP update process. Reboot the VM and wait 5-10 minutes for it to come back online. The VAM UI should be accessible afterwards.

4989 Adding a storage system fails with "SNMP setting is not enabled on storage system 11111. Attempt to acquire maintenance utility lock failed."

Try adding the storage system again.

4994 Importing a large number of servers results in an “unresponsive script” warning on the Add Servers page.

Onboard servers individually or incrementally.

5128 If a server is added while a storage system is being added the server will not have accurate attached volume information for server.

Wait for the internal cache to refresh.

Problem Workaround/Comments

5129 If a server is added while a storage system is being added, the server job may fail with a message that a WWN already exists, such as: “WWN 100000053326df1a already exists.”

Contact your system administrator. The system administrator can log into Storage Advisor and into the db Docker container and delete the server details.

5237 User groups cannot be deleted from the Share details page.

Deny all permissions to groups that should not be associated with the share.

5266 Initialization of multiple parity groups on FMD DC2 disks jobs completes after formatting is completed and the parity groups are in AVAILABLE status.

Wait for the formatting to complete. This may take time.

5271 The HNAS file system mount operation fails when more than three file systems are mounted.

Try the operation again. If the operation continues to fail, contact the HDS Customer Support.

5329 PVol used capacity does not change to 0 GB after restore from a snapshot.

After the restore, confirm on the server that the actual capacity matches the volume capacity in CCI.

5348 Changing security settings in Storage Advisor occasionally creates false “job started” popups even though no job is created.

Ignore the popups.

5355 Bulk calls to HNAS file system (more than 50 simultaneous calls) may cause connection to the storage system to be reset.

Limit bulk calls to 50 or fewer at a time.

5465 Large log files sometimes time out when the download logs feature is used in Virtual Appliance Manager.

Command line tools may be used to download large log files. For example, the following curl command may be used to download any sized log file:

curl -k -X GET -H "X-Auth-Token: <token>" -H "Accept-Language: {{locale}}" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Cache-Control: no-cache" -H "Postman-Token: <token>" "https://<ip-address>:443/vam/api/v1/log/download" > 3gLogs.tar

5472 Browsing to the Shares and Exports inventory page while a Delete File System job is running results in a busy icon and frozen web interface.

Wait ten minutes after the job completes successfully for the storage inventory to refresh. Then browse to the page again.

5477 Updating the pool template API without both utilizationThreshold1 and utilizationThreshold2 results in job failure.

Update both utilizationThreshold1 and utilizationThreshold2 values.

5479 In a VSP G1000 storage system, user may see incorrect or stale data due to array lock issues. This happens when multiple products are being used to managed the same storage system using the same credentials.

If multiple products are used to configure or maintain the same VSP G1000 storage system, create an exclusive user account for Storage Advisor that has access to all resource groups and use it when adding the storage system.

Problem Workaround/Comments

5533 Creating multiple volumes at the same time may not create all the volumes. This may happen occasionally due to volume IDs that are not unique.

Verify the number of volumes created in the volume inventory page and then perform another create volume operation for the remaining volume count.

5538 When the Ports page is in list view, the Fabric and Connection Type values do not display if the list is sorted by any other column.

Refresh the page or switch to tile view to display Fabric and Connection Type values.

5542 The HI-UX host mode is not supported for VSP G1000 or VSP Gx00.

Retry with another supported host mode.

5547 If the snapshot schedule is for day 31 of the month, the schedule will not run in months with fewer than 31 days.

Set the scheduler for any day from 1 to 28.

5555 SNMP trap refcode 388f00 displays as a Processor alert.

SNMP trap refcode 388f00 should be interpreted as a Power alert for the DKC module.

5573 Create parity group fails with "Invalid memberKey" exception

Upgrade the firmware on the storage system to SVOS 6.4.0 or higher.

5590, 5591

Certain elements of the Storage Advisor web interface may appear distorted or miniaturized in Internet Explorer.

If usability is affected, use a different supported browser, such as Firefox or Chrome.

5596 When a Snap pool is full, Storage Advisor does not use other available Snap pools, even if available for the next-created replication pair.

Recommendation : Create only one Snap pool per storage system.

Workarounds:

Expand the Snap pool. Delete old snapshots from the replication

group to free up pool space. (You can do this manually or by reducing retention policy.)

5608 When a pool created on a compression-enabled parity group is deleted, the parity group cannot be reinitialized.

Deleting the compression-enabled pool deletes the pool but the parity-group goes into uninitialized state.

Delete the parity groups in "UNINITIALIZED" state associated with the pool.

Try to create the parity group again.

5612 SpThe Storage Advisor web interface displays the spinner animation when the user attempts to click a “Not Accessible” pool resource tile while a storage system is being added.

Wait for the storage system to be onboarded successfully.

Problem Workaround/Comments

5613 When importing a file from backup, internal IDs of resources may change.

This issue only affects API users. If API operations are dependent on resource IDs, check the resources after the restore operation is completed and update the IDs accordingly.

5614 On VSP G1000 storage systems, the Basic pool creation workflow cannot be used to create pools from parity groups on RAID1+0 (2D+2D)X2 (which is equal to RAID1+0 (4D+4D)).

Create (or expand) the pool using the advanced pool creation workflow.

5615 Pool creation using the Basic work flow fails if the chosen tier capacity contains both encryption-enabled and compressed parity groups.

Select only compressed or encryption-enabled parity groups for pool creation.

5619 Initialize Parity Group fails because the maximum number of parity groups are in the QUICK_FORMATTING state.

Wait until the status of some parity groups changes from QUICK_FORMATTING to AVAILABLE and then retry the operation for uninitialized parity groups.

5620 The Initialize Parity Group operation reports successful job completion but the parity group initialization has failed.

Check to see if the parity group has been initialized. If not, wait for other parity groups to change their status from QUICK_FORMATTING to AVAILABLE and retry the operation again.

5623 User is able to start job to initialize parity groups that are in use.

Job will fail without data loss so this issue can be ignored if parity groups that are in use are selected by mistake.

5627 Removing a storage system sometimes does not remove the storage system from inventory even though the job succeeds.

Contact your System Administrator if this issue persists.

5630 When backup files that include changes to network settings are restored, storage system inventories may fail to be restored.

If the appliance comes back online after a restore operation with its inventories missing, wait ten minutes for the inventory to refresh. If the elements are still missing, return to Virtual Appliance Manager and restore the backup file a second time.

5636 When onboarding the same Cisco switch using different VSAN IDs, the job succeeds but some of the switches are not displayed.

Attempt to onboard another switch with invalid credentials. The remaining switches will be displayed in the inventory after the job fails.

5639 When the tier name is changed the Create Pool page does not display the parity groups for pool creation in Basic workflow.

Do not change the default tier names.
