Who we are.

In the year 1929 Herbert Johannes Schryver, the present owner’s father, founded the company – a courageous and ambitious stepduring the worldwide economic crisis. If Herbert Johannes Schryver had followed his grandfather’s will, he would have become ashoemaker.

Due to the bad times, however, the store owner had to give up his trade. So, close to this location, in the house of the “Seeschifffahrt”,the founder’s career began in a well-known forwarding company.

Only at the beginning of the Fifties could former relationships be revived. However, the war soon brought business to a completestandstill. At that time, the German export economy began to boom. It was the time for a new beginning and changes.The first teletypewriters with ticker tapes were set up and overseas calls were seen as sensational. Carbon copies were soon replacedby photocopies and previously required consular invoices disappeared almost completely

In the following years until 1979 – when the company celebrated its 50th Anniversary – the container began to triumph by replacingnearly all other methods of transport, resulting in an expansion of transport volume never seen before. Since the beginning of theEighties, branch offices have been, and our partnerships in Asia, Africa, and Australia have been expanded. Combined with the openingof our specialized airfreight office established in Latin America, new traffic ways have also been developed.

Today Schryver is represented across the globe – with the personal touch of an independent and privately owned freight forwarderwho really cares about the customers and gets things moving. The whole group consists of 8 companies with more than 20 branchoffices and about 250 employees world-wide. Without our professional employees our company would have never had such successand continuous growth. The employees are always the ones whom make the company what it is and will do so in the future.
