Finalised Examination Timetable for Semester 2, 2016-17

Further to my previous notice of 27 March 2017 on the “Tentative Examination Timetable for Semester 2,

2016-17”, please read carefully the following important points regarding the examination:

(A) Personalised Examination Timetable via SCORE

The finalised examination timetable has been released today. You can now obtain your own examination

timetable with the seat numbers assigned to you via the Student Course and Record System (SCORE).

Access instructions to SCORE are provided in the Appendix I enclosed. Please be reminded that you should

choose to view your own exam schedule in Weekly Calendar View by selecting the period 30 April – 27

May 2017. You are strongly advised to print a copy of your own examination timetable for easy reference.

Students who appeal successfully against the decision of disqualification from examination are required to

login into SCORE for an updated examination timetable on the day of Semester Teaching End.

The College reserves the right to review the examination timetable where necessary. Please pay close attention

to the examination website (http://cc.hkuspace.hku.hk/exam), the Learner Portal and the College’s notice

boards for the latest information.

Examinations are scheduled between 30 April – 14 May 20171 from Monday to Sunday (except 1 and 3

May 2017) at the following locations:

(B) Shuttle Bus Service to KITEC

There is regular shuttle bus service running between KITEC and the Telford Plaza. Apart from the regular bus

service, additional service will be arranged before and after each examination session (Bus schedule and

service hours: every 5 – 8 minutes from 07:00 to 24:00). You are reminded to arrive at examination venue at

least 30 minutes before the start of the examination. Please arrange your own transportation if the shuttle

buses are full or late.

(C) Regulations and Conduct of Examinations

Please study carefully the notice on “Examination Misconduct” and the “Regulations and Conduct of

Examinations” available on the examination website and in Appendix D of the Student Handbook. You should

pay close attention for the latest information on the Learner Portal and the College’s notice boards. Students

who fail to comply with the stipulated rules and regulations may receive a mark penalty or be disqualified

from the examination.

(D) Absence from Examinations

In case you need to apply for absence from examination of a course due to extenuating circumstances, please

submit your application to the College Office in writing by filling in the form Absence from Examination(s),

which can be downloaded from Learner Portal under the tab “My resources”, together with relevant

supporting documents within 5 working days after the examination date of that course (excluding

Saturdays, Sundays, Public Holidays and School Holidays. Please refer to Appendix II for the application

deadline). Late applications will not be considered. A non-refundable application fee of HK$300 per

course will be charged. In case of sickness, the College will ONLY accept medical certificates issued by

registered doctors (註冊西醫) or Chinese medicine practitioners (註冊中醫)2. The date(s) of sick leave

granted should include the examination date(s) of the course(s) concerned. Your application of make-up

examinations will be considered by the College’s Board of Examiners whose decision is final. For courses

offered by the HKU Faculty of Science (“the Faculty”), your application for make-up examinations will be

considered by both the College’s Board of Examiners and the Faculty. If your application is approved, you

will be notified of the make-up examination arrangement in due course. Otherwise, you may receive a "Fail"

grade for the course.

Please note that with effect from Semester 1, 2016/17 academic year, students will only be permitted to

take the make-up examination of the same course ONCE during the registration of their respective

programmes. No further arrangement would be made for students who are absent from the approved

make-up examinations of the same course for twice. They would receive a “Fail” grade for the course

concerned and be required to repeat the failed course as appropriate in the next available semester.

2 Medical certificate issued by listed Chinese medicine practitioners (表列中醫) will NOT be accepted. The list of registered

Chinese medicine practitioners can be obtained from the website of Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong

(http://www.cmchk.org.hk/). According to the Reference Guide on Issuance of Sick Leave Certificate by Registered Chinese

Medicine Practitioners (http://www.cmchk.org.hk/cmp/eng/#main_public05.htm), the medical certificates should include the full

name and the HKID number of the patient as well as the name and registration number of the attending practitioner. Thus, when you

submit a medical certificate issued by a registered Chinese medicine practitioner, please ensure that your HKID number is printed on

the certificate.

(F) Bad Weather Arrangement

In the event of cancellation of examinations due to bad weather (e.g. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8

or above, or Black Rainstorm Warning being issued), rescheduled examinations for the affected students will

be held between 15 and 23 May 2017. Please pay attention to the College’s announcement as appropriate.

(G) Release of Assessment Results

The tentative release date of the assessment results of Semester 2, 2016-17 will be around 26 June 2017. If

you wish to apply for admission to the universities, you can submit the application forms first before the

stipulated deadline and send the assessment results to the universities once available.

Please check the Learner Portal regularly for the announcements of make-up examinations and release of

assessment results.

(H) Other Important Notes

1. Remember to bring your Student ID Card or HKID card for verification during the examination.

2. You are strongly advised to arrive at the examination venue at least 20 minutes before the examination

starts to check the seating plan, which will be posted outside the venue on the day of examination.

3. The College reserves the right to revise the examination timetable where necessary. You should pay close

attention for the latest information on the Learner Portal and the College’s notice boards.

4. You may refer to the Appendix III for the opening hours of study rooms at various College’s campuses

during the examination period.

5. Please refer to the Appendix IV for the precautionary measures against Influenza at examination venues.

6. Students who fall ill on the examination day are advised not to start the examination. No make-up

examination will be arranged to students who have attempted the examination.

Accessing to SCORE

You can access to SCORE through the Learner Portal.

By clicking the Learner at the HKU SPACE CC website, you will be directed to the Learner Portal

login page.

Click Login button

To login, type your Student ID number and password, and then click Login button.

Go to My e-Campus tab and then click the link to access SCORE. You will then be navigated to

SCORE directly.

Navigating SCORE

After accessing SCORE, you will be directed to the Main Menu page. Please select “Self

Service”.

View Examination Schedule

In the “Self Service” section, please select “My Class Schedule” under “Enrolment”, you will be

directed to your personal examination timetable.

Please view your own exam schedule in Weekly Calendar View by selecting the period from

30 April – 27 May 2017 and print a copy of your personal examination timetable for easy reference.

Appendix IV

Precautionary Measures against Influenza at Examination Venues

As the Alert Response Level under the Government’s Preparedness Plan for Influenza Pandemic has been

activated, students are advised to observe the following measures at the examination venues:

Wear a mask if you have respiratory symptoms. During the checking of

attendance, students may be asked to remove their masks for verification of

identity.

Report to the invigilator if you have serious sneezing or coughing. A special seating may be

arranged in order to minimize disturbance to other students.

Do not start the examination if you have serious respiratory symptoms or

fever or fall ill on the examination day. Seek medical advice immediately and

apply for “Absence from Examination” within 5 working days (excluding Sat,

Sun, public holidays and School holidays) after the date of examination.
