Healthy Living Pharmacies across South Staffordshire, North
Staffordshire and Stoke are now providing the Continence Advice
Service. Pharmacists, Healthy Living Champions and other pharmacy
staff members attended a continence advice training event where they
gained the necessary skills to provide a quality continence advice
service. Cate Astbury from the bladder and bowel foundation gave a
fantastic talk on the issues people suffering from incontinence problems
face and the help and support that is available to them.
The service will involve a member of the pharmacy team asking any
person wishing to purchase continence related products a few questions
regarding their problems. If a representative is buying the products then
the person who is suffering with the problems are invited to talk to the
pharmacy staff. Once the conversation has ended the pharmacy staff
member must enter the details onto PharmOutcomes as soon as
possible to claim payment.
I was very pleased with the uptake of this service from HLPs, it proves
to me that we are still enthusiastic to support the HLP concept and
continue to strive in improving the public’s health!
Go to PharmOutcomes for more information.
