Most Festivals are held at the Meadow between 10.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. There are a couple that are held between 6.00 p.m. and midnight, but the majority occur during the day.

Festivals in Island of Happiness tend to be community events that force you to compete with individuals from other villages. You therefore truly represent the honour and standing of your community whenever you enter a Contest at a Festival. Other Islanders in attendance will make this quite clear, reminding you that your entry is their hope of achieving a position of pride. If you lose, your Island loses. If you win, every one will be proud of you. Heart levels therefore increase a little if you win a Contest.

Winning a Festival in some cases will result in a new arrival to the Island. There are a number of subsidiary characters whose appearance depends on the number of Contests you have won at Festivals.Some characters will leave if you fail to compete in a specific number of Festivals in the course of a year.

When a new Festival is unlocked, you will receive a visit from the individual who is in charge of the Festival on the previous day. In future years, however, for any Festival that does NOT involve a Contest, you will not receive the courtesy visit. You will be required to look at your Calendar in order to be reminded of the Festivals during the current season. There is another reminder, however, when a Festival Day occurs.

First of all, no shops or homes will be open on the day of any Festival, although subsidiary characters will be found in their usual locations. Second, you will see a colourful archway festooned with balloons on your Map at the site of the Meadow. If you cannot recall the hours of the Festival, simply refer to your Wall Calendar.

Whenever the Festival involves a Contest, you will continue to receive a visit from the organiser on the day prior to the Festival. If it is an Animal Contest, the organiser will ask for your entry at that time and take it with her.

On the day of the Festival, when you cross the bridge into the Meadow, you will experience the Festival Event unless you arrive too early, in which case, you will be met by the organiser who will tell you when to return.

In most cases, once you have entered the Festival area, you will not be able

to leave again until the Festival ends. When the Festival ends, you will find yourself in your house at 6.00 p.m. usually. There are exceptions, in particular, the New Year's Eve Festival, when you will find yourself at home the next morning at 6.00 a.m. instead.

The Cooking Festivals actually requires you to leave and return again. It is a two-part Festival. You need to arrive between 10.00 a.m. and 11.50 a.m. to choose a Category for your Entry. You then need to return in the afternoon with the Dish you have prepared.

If you miss a Festival in which you had made an entry, you will receive a visit the next day from the organiser, telling you how disappointed he/she is that you failed to attend. If you provided an entry for an Animal Contest, you will receive a real scolding for your failure to support your animal!

The requirements for winning any Contest at a Festival differ slightly from Contest to Contest, but the main requirement always is a superior entry. For any Animal Contest, the requirement for winning is 9-10 Hearts. After winning an Animal Festival, the winning Animal will produce S Rank product. The only other way by which to obtain S Rank Animal Products is by playing one of the Touchscreen Mini-Games when they are offered randomly on any day.

The requirements for winning the Cooking Festival is based on a combination of Stamina Recovery (SR ) and Fullness (FL) in the Recipe that you enter. If your Recipe has a higher value of SR and FL than the other entrants, you will win the Contest. It is not that difficult to win the Cooking Contest even in the first year that you experience it. Remember that unlocking Contests and Festivals depends on your game progress. The earliest that you can experience many of the Festivals in the game is the second year. If you have not unlocked the Festival by meeting the prerequisites, you will delay the appearance of that Festival until you do meet the requirements.

One of the most difficult Contests to win is the Mining Contest. Your ore or gem must be between 9-10 Quality in order to win the Contest. If you have not descended to the bottom of the Mine, it is unlikely that you will have any Gems or Ores of that Quality, even if you do have one of the required size. Quality counts in the Mining Festival. Gems and Ores of 9-10 Quality are found below the 200th floor.

The Fishing Festival is fairly easy to win if you have fished at the Beach regularly. Take any Large Fish to the Festival and your chances of winning will be very good. Freshness is not as important as Rank here. A Rank 'A' Large Fish of decent quality and size should win even if it is a few days old. Remember, however, that Rank will be affected by age in time for all perishable items. A Crop or Fish of Rank A will become Rank B and then decrease to C and ultimately D if you store it too long in any place other than a Refrigerator made of Mythic Stone!

The Crop Festivals likewise are fairly easy to win provided you can make the entry requested. You will need to unlock all seasonal Crops, however, as you will find that the Crops featured after the first year may not be those available at the start of the game. The Crop featured in the next Crop Festival will be announced at the end of the one preceding it and will be given on your Calendar as well. If you have not unlocked the Crop that is featured, you will not be able to enter. Make certain, therefore, that you unlock all seasonal crops as early in the game as possible.

The prize for winning any Festival usually is a Wonderful of 'S' Rank. The colour is based on the current point total of your Farming Degree.

Festivals are the only place where you are likely to find 'S' Rank Wonderfuls. The Wonderfuls sold randomly at Chen's shop in Winter and those given by the Harvest Goddess have random ranks that can be as low as 'C'. Moreover, as you 'use' a Wonderful in any tool, its rank gradually will decrease, forcing you to replace it ultimately if you play for decades.

Exploiting Festivals by Fishing

As in FoMT and MFoMT, you can equip your Fishing Rod and use it during any Festival. When equipped, you can fish from the river, but energy will be used, so watch your character's gestures to make certain he/she does not pass out! You will be able to access your Rucksack during any Festival, so if you have recovery items with you, you can fish to your heart's content. Catching specific numbers of fish will unlock new characters and as time always is limited in this game, fishing during a Festival is a good way to cheat the clock.

Remember that there are characters who will leave the Island if you do not catch and ship a specific number of fish each season. Fishing at a Festival is a good way to meet the requirements for keeping all characters on the Island.

Calendar of Birthdays, Events and Festivals:

The prize for winning any Festival usually is a Wonderful of 'S' Rank. The colour you receive is based on the number of points you currently hold towards your Farming Degree. This point value cannot be seen by a player but points will increase each time you use one of your Tools. You therefore can change the colour of the Wonderful given as a prize for winning a Festival Contest by using your Tools before you enter the Meadow.

Save your game BEFORE you enter the Meadow to participate in any Festival. If the Wonderful you obtain as a prize is not the one you seek, reload the game. Equip your Fishing Rod and fish from the eastern bank of the River, then re-enter the Meadow. It takes only a few casts (and catches) from your Fishing Rod to change the colour of the Wonderful you obtain. They appear in the following order:

This is the same order in which they appear in your Shipping List as well as the order in which Coloured Grasses are listed. It is the order in which the Harvest Goddess gives the Recipes for Coloured Curries as well! As stated previously, it requires only a few tool uses to change the colour of the Wonderful to the one that follows it in the List. Casts and catches with a Fishing Rod at a location most convenient for entry to the Meadow are the easiest way to accomplish this.

Festivals are the only place where you are likely to find 'S' Rank

Wonderfuls. The Wonderfuls sold randomly at Chen's shop in Winter and those given by the Harvest Goddess have random ranks that can be as low as 'C'. Moreover, as you 'use' a Wonderful in any tool, its rank gradually will decrease, forcing you to replace it ultimately if you play for decades.

Incidentally, whenever you are given a chance to participate in a Feast at any Festival, your Stamina and Fullness will be fully restored afterwards. You therefore should fish BEFORE you speak to any individual at any Festival involving a Feast as you will leave the Festival then with a full Energy Bar. If, however, you fish at the Meadow AFTER consuming the food, your Energy will deplete as usual.

Calendar of Birthdays, Events and Festivals:

Unlike many Harvest Moon games, your Calendar will change as you unlock new options. Festivals will not appear at all until you unlock the Meadow area where they are celebrated. Birthdays will appear on the Calendar as new characters arrive on the Island. The Calendar for each Season in the first year therefore may differ radically from the Calendar each Season in the 2nd and in subsequent years. Descriptions of Festivals:

Whenever you access the Calendar on your Wall, you will see a complete description of every Festival that you have unlocked in the current season.

The prize for winning any Festival that includes a Contest is a Wonderful. The colour is determined by your current point total towards your Farming Degree, a number that you cannot see. Any use of your tools will add points to that total. You therefore can change the colour of the Wonderful offered by using your Tools BEFORE you enter the Meadow. The precise order of Wonderfuls according to point total is given in another section of this guide. It is the same order as the Wonderfuls appear in your Shipping List.

Spring Festivals:

1 Spring:Rice Cake FestivalA Rice Cake Festival.At the Meadow at 10.00 a.m.

The Rice Cake Festival is held from 10.00 a.m. to 5.50 p.m. If you arrive at the Meadow any later, you will find that the Festival has ended. A random number of Rice Cakes is given to you at the end of the Festival as the 'leftovers' are shared between the Islanders. Save your game BEFORE you enter the Meadow. If you do not obtain 13 Rice Cakes, reload and try again.

There is a random event that can occur during this Festival and is quite hilarious. In IoH, you actually participate actively in pounding the Rice Cakes. Afterwards, every one eats. In a random event, your character may choke on a Rice Cake. This result definitely is worth experiencing. If you haven't experienced it by your fourth or fifth year, you may wish to reload the Festival until you do.

8 Spring: Harvest Goddess Festival

Harvest Goddess FestivalHarvest Goddess' BirthdayAt the meadow at 10.00 a.m.The Harvest Festival is a Romantic Festival in IoH. You need to speak to an Eligible Bachelor/Girl on the previous day for an invitation to squire or be squired by her/him to the Festival. On the day of the Festival, the individual will be at your Farmhouse at 6.00 a.m. You need to re-enter the house to experience the Event wherein he/she will ask if you are ready to leave for the festival. If you have not finished your chores, you can go out again and return when you have concluded them.

After marriage, your partner automatically will be your Spouse. You either can accompany him/her to the Festival or arrive by yourself to find your Spouse at the entrance.

At the Festival, the girls will perform a dance in honour of the Harvest Goddess. Their partners will stand opposite them and at one point at the end of the dance, each will display a big red heart.

If no Bachelor or Eligible Girl is at a high enough heart level, you will be forced to attend alone, watching all the couples who are paired!

This Festival will be unlocked when you have given an offering to the Harvest Goddess and Nathan and Alisa are on the Island. An event at the Church will unlock it and can occur in any season but the actual Festival will not occur until 8 Spring.

14 Spring: Spring Thanksgiving FestivalA day for boys to give cookies to girls to show their appreciation.

If you are playing as a boy, you can give Chocolate or Cookies to all the Eligible Girls in the game. If you are playing as a girl, the Eligible Bachelors will visit your Farmhouse according to a set schedule. Re-enter your house to experience each Event. The actual gift that you receive depends on heart level. At a lower heart level, you will receive Cookies. At a higher heart level, you will receive Chocolate Cookies.Once you are married, you only will receive Chocolate Cookies from your Spouse in an Event that occurs after you go to bed. The Chocolate Cookies then will be placed in your Rucksack to be discovered the next morning.

19 Spring: Sheep FestivalA regional sheep show.

At the meadow at 10.00 a.m.

You will not experience this Festival until Sheep are unlocked by the completion of a fully expanded Barn.Mirabelle then will come to your Farmhouse at 6.00 a.m. on 18 Spring each year to ask if you wish to enter a Sheep in the Festival. In order to be eligible, the Sheep must be an adult, neither pregnant nor sick and have a full coat of wool on 18 Spring. Remember that a Sheep can be sheared every 4 days in IoH. Do not shear your Sheep five days prior to 18 Spring in order to be able to enter it.

You can attend this Festival at any time between 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. If your Entry has 9-10 hearts, it will win. The prize is a Wonderful of 'S' Rank of a colour set by your current Farming Degree total.

A Sheep winning the Festival for the first time will be given the rank of 'Copper Medal Chicken.' The second time, it will be 'Bronze', then 'Silver' and finally 'Gold.'

A Sheep who has won the Contest will produce 'S' Rank Wool when sheared, unless stressed at the time of shearing.

If you fail to attend the Sheep Festival where you have made an entry, you will experience an event on the following morning, on 20 Spring, wherein Mirabelle will scold you for your failure to support your Sheep!

If you make an Entry, your Sheep will be returned to your Barn at 6.00 p.m. on the day of the Festival. You can shear it then.

24 Spring: Cooking FestivalA regional cooking contest. Sign up at the meadow at 10.00 a.m.In two parts: need to return after 12.00 noon to give entry

The Cooking Festival has points in common with the Cooking Festival in other Harvest Moon games but differs in some respects as well.

In IoH, you need to arrive at the Festival between 10.00 a.m. – 11.50 a.m. to choose the category of your Entry. It is not like other Harvest Moon games where the category is based on Implement and changes from year to year. In IoH, you can choose your own category each year.

Go home to prepare any Dish in the Category you have chosen and return to the Meadow between 1.00 p.m. – 5.50 p.m. to present your Entry.

Winning this Festival depends solely on the combined value of your Dish in terms of SR (Stamina Recovery) and FL (Fullness). Save your game BEFORE you return to the Festival. If you fail to win, reload and prepare a different dish in the same category.

The Cooking Festival is fairly easy to win even in the first year in which you experience it. A good 'Boiled Fish' or 'Grilled Fish' made from an 'A' Rank Fish of decent Quality and Size even can win. A Pudding or Ice Cream with optional ingredients can win as well.

29 Spring: Spring Crop FestivalThe spring crop contest. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m. This year's theme: Cucumber. *

*The Theme will differ each year.

Take the required Crop to the Festival and enter it. You can do this at any time from 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. A decent 'A' Rank Crop will win. The Theme does not depend on the Crops you have unlocked. If you are not diligent in unlocking new Crops each season, you may find that you cannot produce an Entry for the Crop Festival. The prize for winning is an 'S' Rank Wonderful, Colour determined by current Farming Degree point total.

Provided you have the required Crop in 'A' Rank, it is fairly easy to win this Festival. Size need not be that great. Quality is more important.

Summer Festivals:

7 Summer: Chicken Festival A regional chicken show. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m. At Meadow from 10.00 a.m. to 5.50 p.m.

Like the other Animal Festivals, this Festival is unlocked when you obtain your first Chicken. Even if your Chicken is not an adult yet, the Festival will occur, although you will not be able to make an entry.

Mirabelle will come to your Farmhouse at 6.00 a.m. on 6 Summer to ask for your Entry. Any adult chicken who is not sick can be entered. She will take the bird with her. The Chicken will be returned to your Coop at 6.00 p.m. on the day of the Festival.

Go to the Meadow between 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. on 7 Summer to attend the Festival. If your entry has 9-10 Hearts, she will win.

Even if your chicken fails to win 1st Place, her entry may result in a title. 'Copper Metal Chicken' is the first title.

The prize for 1st place is an 'S' Rank Wonderful, colour determined by current Farming Degree total. There are no prizes for 2nd to 4th place.

If you fail to attend the Chicken Festival but made an Entry, you will experience another Event on 8 Summer at 6.00 a.m. Mirabelle will visit you and scold you for failing to support your own Chicken!

15 Summer: Mining Festival A regional contest of valuable mined gems and ores. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m. At Meadow from 10.00 a.m. to 5.50 p.m.

You win by Quality rather than Size.

The Mining Festival is one of the more difficult Festivals to win, as it requires that you have been able to reach the bottom of the Mine. The Quality of the Gem or Ore you enter must be 9-10 in order to win. Even the rarest of gems or ores will not win if the Quality is less than 9. Size need not be 9-10, however. Gems of 9-10 Quality are found only on the lowest floors of the Mine, usually between Floors 200-254. Certainly they are not found above Floor 150.

The prize for winning is an 'S' Rank Wonderful, colour determined by current Farming Degree point total. The Mining Festival will be unlocked only when Regis and Sabrina arrive on the Island.

23 Summer Horse Festival A regional horse show. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m. At Meadow from 10.00 a.m. to 5.50 p.m.

As with other Animal Festivals, Mirabelle will visit on the day prior to the Festival to ask if you have an entry. The only requirement for entering is that you have a Horse. The Festival will occur even before you have been given a Horse by Chen and Charlie, but obviously you will not be able to make an entry if you do not have a Horse.

Requirement for winning this Festival as with any Animal Contest is a Heart Level of 9-10. The prize is an 'S' Rank Wonderful, colour determined by current Farming Degree point total. There are no Horse Races in IoH. The animals are judged solely by heart level. Again, as with other Animal Contests, if you have entered your Horse but failed to attend, you will experience an Event on 24 Summer wherein Mirabelle will visit and scold you for not supporting your animal!

26 Summer: Fireworks Festival: At Meadow from 6.00 p.m. to 9.50 p.m. Go to bed directly afterwards A nighttime display of dazzling fireworks. At the meadow at 6 p.m. You have one opportunity to accept an invitation from any bachelor if your character is a girl. If you do not accept any invitation, you will watch the display with Chen and Gannon. All bachelors apart from Mark and Shea will be there.

You cannot make or accept Invitations to this Festival in advance. In this respect, the Fireworks Festival is much like the festivals in other Harvest Moon games. The main difference is location. In most games, the Fireworks Festival occurs at the Beach. In IoH, it is held in the Meadow.

Go to the Festival alone and then speak to the Eligible Girl or Bachelor of your choice. If his/her Heart Level is high enough, you will be able to watch the display with him/her. This is one of the few community festivals that occurs at night.

If you are not diligent in unlocking new Crops each season, you may find that you cannot produce an Entry for the Crop Festival. The prize for winning is an 'S' Rank Wonderful, Colour determined by current Farming Degree point total.

Autumn Festivals

8 Fall: Harvest Festival An island potluck. Bring your best crop to add to the stew. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m. At Meadow from 10.00 a.m. to 5.50 p.m.

As in other Harvest Moon games, the Harvest Festival is not a contest but rather a community event. Take an edible item to add to the Pot. In this game, as in some others, you can throw a Poisonous Toadstool into the Pot to make every one ill. It is rather amusing but I do not advise players to save the results unless they are courting the Witch Princess. Mischief always delights her. It is far better to add a good ingredient to the stew.

Note that your Stamina and Fullness will be at maximum after the Festival so this is one Festival where you can attend with almost no SR and FL and have it fully restored. Players are advised therefore to perform as many chores as possible before they go to the Meadow. If you wish to fish at the Festival, do so BEFORE you add your ingredient to the Pot.

16 Fall: Cow Festival A regional cow show. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m. At Meadow from 10.00 a.m. to 5.50 p.m.

The Cow Festival is unlocked when Gannon completes an Animal Barn, whether or not you have an Adult Cow yet. Mirabelle will visit you at 6.00 a.m. on 15 Fall to ask if you have an entry. To be eligible, a Cow must be an adult and neither sick nor pregnant. Mirabelle will take the entry with her on 15 Fall.

On 16 Fall, enter the Meadow at any point between 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. If your Cow is at 9-10 Hearts, you will win the Contest. The prize is an 'S' Rank Wonderful, colour determined by Farming Degree Point total.

You will find your entry back in the Barn at 6.00 p.m. when you find yourself at home again.

If you have an entry in the Festival but fail to attend, you will experience an event with Mirabelle on 17 Fall at 6.00 a.m. She will visit you and scold you for failing to support your own animal and beg you never to do that again!

24 Fall: Rice Festival A festival to celebrate delicious rice dishes. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m. At the Meadow from 10.00 a.m. to 5.50 p.m.

The Rice Festival is rather similar to the Rice Cake and Noodle Festivals. Until you have unlocked Rice, the Festival will not be on the Calendar. Simply go to the Meadow between 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. There are no contests. You simply share a rice feast with other villagers and are given leftovers in the form of Cooked Rice to take home.

The amount and quality that you will find in your rucksack afterwards are random but your Stamina and Fullness will be restored fully by attendance at the Festival. If you wish to fish at the Festival, therefore, do so BEFORE you allow the Feast to begin.

28 Fall: Crop Festival The fall crop contest. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m. This year's theme: Yam* At the Meadow from 10.00 a.m. to 5.50 p.m.

Take the required Crop to the Festival and enter it. You can do this at any time from 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. A decent 'A' Rank Crop will win. The Theme does not depend on the Crops you have unlocked. The prize for winning is an 'S' Rank Wonderful, colour determined by current Farming Degree points.

30 Fall: Pumpkin Festival A day where children go door-to-door asking for candy.

When you are single, Charlie, Eliza and Popuri will visit your house on the morning of the Pumpkin Festival. You must re-enter your House between 6.00 a.m. – 7.50 a.m., 8.00 a.m. – 9.50 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. – 11.50 a.m. to experience all three visits. Each time, giving a piece of Chocolate to the visitor will satisfy him/her.

After Marriage, you no longer will have any visitors but the Festival will be celebrated at home by your Spouse. If you have a Child, you will celebrate with your entire Family. Your Spouse (whether male or female) will prepare special treats. Re-enter your house after 1.00 p.m. but before 6.00 p.m. to experience the Feast. It will end at 6.00 p.m and will restore your Stamina and Fullness completely. Winter Festivals:

4 Winter: Snow Festival A festival where everybody makes a snowman! At the meadow at 10.00 a.m.

The Snow Festival is a Friendship Festival rather than a Romantic one per se. Go to the Meadow between 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. If the heart level of the individual is high enough, you will be able to build a snowman with that character. If not, he/she will refuse the invitation. This is a Festival

where you should speak to every one. Each individual with a high enough heart level will agree to build with you. Ultimately, when every one in attendance is at high enough heart levels, you will find yourself building a snowman with every one. It is a real community event in this sense. There are no prizes for building a snowman. The Festival is fun, though and it does raise Friendship Levels. At 6 Hearts or above, any individual will build with you.

Incidentally, like the Rice Cake Festival, the actual Event that occurs when the Snowman is built is random. You may build an enormous sophisticated snowman that excites Gannon's admiration or he may ask if that was the best you could do! This result does not depend on the number of individuals who participated with you in the building your Snowman, by the way. It is completely random and may change each time you reload the Event in any given year.

10 Winter: Dog Festival A regional dog show. At the meadow at 10.00 a.m.

The Dog Festival will be unlocked when you obtain your Dog. Mirabelle then will appear at your farmhouse at 6.00 a.m. on 9 Winter to ask if you wish to make an entry. If you enter your Dog, she will take him with her.

On 10 Winter, attend the Festival between 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. If your Dog is at 9-10 Heart level, you will win the Contest and receive an 'S' Rank, colour determined by current Farming Degree points. Your Dog will be returned to the Stable afterwards at 6.00 p.m.

If you enter your Dog but fail to attend, you will experience the Scolding Event on 11 Winter at 6.00 a.m. and be shamed and disgusted with yourself!

14 Winter: Thanksgiving A day for girls to give chocolates to boys to show their appreciation.

If you are playing as a girl, you should give chocolates to every Eligible Bachelor. If you have neglected any bachelors, however, your gift will be refused, even at highest heart level.

If you are playing as a boy, you will receive visits from the Eligible Girls. The nature of the gift depends on heart level. At lower levels, you will receive Cake. At the highest levels, you will receive Chocolate Cake. The visits follow a set schedule. You need to re-enter your house each time to experience the Event with the Eligible Girl.

Once you are married, you will receive Chocolate Cake only from your Spouse in an event after you go to bed. Your Spouse will place a piece of Chocolate Cake in your Rucksack to be discovered the next morning.

20 Winter: Fishing Contest A regional fishing contest. Sign up at the meadow at 10.00 a.m.

The Fishing Contest will be unlocked when Denny arrives on the Island. Go to the Meadow between 10.00 a.m. – 5.50 p.m. with a Fish in your Rucksack and enter it in the Contest. Any Large Fish should win the Contest. If it is 'A' Rank at least, you basically are guaranteed to win. It is one of the easiest contests to win. Fish at the Beach to catch Large Fish. I do believe that even a smaller fish of 'S' rank can win but this is not confirmed as I entered

a Large Fish myself in the first year.

The prize as always is an 'S' Rank Wonderful, colour determined by Farming Degree point total.

24 Winter: Starry Night Festival A night to gaze up at the stars in the winter sky.

The Starry Night Festival is one of the few private Festivals in Harvest Moon games and IoH is no exception. You must make the invitation on the previous day by speaking to the Eligible Girl or Bachelor of your choice. If you are playing as a girl, you will be unable to invite Vaughn for the first few years, as he only visits the Island on Wednesdays and Thursdays and 23 Winter will not fall on either of those days for many years. Even when married to Vaughn, you will spend the Festival alone if he is not on the Island on that day. After marriage, he is on the Island every day except Wednesday.

The location of the Festival differs from character to character. When the invitation is accepted, the Eligible Girl/Bachelor will tell you where to meet him/her on 24 Winter at 6.00 p.m.

Go to the appointed place after 6.00 p.m. on 24 Winter to experience the Event.

Incidentally, Mark and Chelsea will come to your Farmhouse if you spend the Starrry Night Festival with either of them. With respect to Natalie or Elliot, you will spend the evening with Taro and his entire family.

30 Winter: New Year's Eve Noodle Festival Eat noodles to celebrate the new year. At the meadow at 6.00 p.m.

The Noodle Festival is one of the few festivals that occurs at night. Go to the Meadow after 6.00 p.m. on New Year's Eve, 30 Winter, to participate in the Festival. You will eat there with the community and receive a random number of 'leftovers' in your Rucksack to take home. The item that you receive will be Buckwheat Flour, an item used in many different recipes. Try to obtain at least 13 portions. Save your game BEFORE you enter the Meadow to be able to reload if you receive only 1 portion as leftovers!

Your Stamina and Fullness will be restored fully after the Feast so if you wish to fish, do so BEFORE you allow the Feast to begin.

Celebrating Festivals after Marriage

Many Festivals will be celebrated differently once you are married and indeed, there will be new 'Special Occasions' that will be celebrated as well.

In terms of existing Festivals, all Romantic Festivals will be celebrated a little differently after marriage. Obviously, with respect to the Harvest Goddess Festival, the Fireworks Festival and the Starry Night Festival, you no longer will have a choice of partners but will be paired with your Spouse automatically.

New Festivals include your Birthday, your Spouse's Birthday, your Child's Birthday and your Wedding Anniversary.

Each of these will be celebrated in the evening under the title of 'A Special Occasion'. Your spouse will greet you to ask if you have finished your chores. When you response in the affirmative, he/she will ask you if you know what the Special Occasion is. You will be required to choose from a list. If you respond correctly, he/she will tell you that a Cake has been purchased and you then will feast together. If you respond incorrectly, your last thoughts will be sorry ones, coupled with a determination not to forget again…

On the occasion of your Wedding Anniversary, your Spouse will give you a special gift in the form of an 'S' Rank Wonderful, colour determined by current Farming Degree point total.

Veteran players of Harvest Moon games will be thrilled to discover that the Thanksgiving Festival after marriage is celebrated in time-honoured Harvest Moon fashion. You need to go to bed before any mention of the Festival will be made. After you have gone to sleep, you will experience a little event wherein your Spouse will sneak Chocolate Cookies or Chocolate Cake (depending on your gender) into your Rucksack.

This applies only to the Thanksgiving Festival where you are the recipient. In other words, if you are playing as a boy, it is the Winter Thanksgiving that will be the occasion of this Event and you will receive Chocolate Cake. If you are playing the game as a girl, it is the Spring Thanksgiving that will mark this Event and you will receive Chocolate Cookies.

Incidentally, your Child's Birthday will be celebrated for the first time on the day of his birth when you enter the House after 6.00 p.m.
