    S c h o o l P r o f il e 2 0 1 3 - 2 0 1 4S C H O O LFounded in 1909, Half Moon Bay High School is the only comprehensive high school in the Cabrillo Unified SchoolDistrict (CUSD), educating grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 980 students. The school is located on the SanMateo County Coast in Half Moon Bay and serves students from Pescadero to Montara (30 miles), from the crest ofthe coastal range to the sea (4 miles). CUSD students come to the high school from the surrounding rural areaencompassing more than 200 square miles.

    Half Moon Bay High School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC). In Mayof 2013, after an extensive self-study was completed, WASC granted an accreditation effective through June 30, 2019.

    C U R R I C U L U M & G R A D I N GHalf Moon Bay High School offers a wide-ranging college preparatory program supported by expanded electives andschool-sponsored, extra-curricular opportunities.

    Students can elect to enroll in six or seven courses per semester, including a zero period option Five units are awarded for each semester Courses meet five times per week under a traditional bell schedule Letter grades A through F are used for most courses, D = passing grade.

    Plus and minus are not used in grade point (GPA) calculations; GPA is determined by adding all gradepoints earned and dividing by the sum of all credits attempted in courses where letter grades were received.o Grade points earned include: A = 4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0o Students enrolled in AP classes receive a one grade-point increase on their weighted GPA for each

    grade of C- or above in an AP course

    G R A D U A T I O N R E Q U I R E M E N T S Graduation requirements include 4 years of English (40 credits), 3 years of Math (30 credits), 4 years of SocialStudies (40 credits), 2 years of Science and Physical Education (20 credits each), 1 year of Fine Arts (10 credits), and70 credits of Electives, for a total of 230 credits. In addition, a 35-hour community service requirement is needed tocomplete graduation requirements.
