Fusing powerful sensory rich visual narrative messages through the conceptual and technical blending of sound and motion design. Using digital multimedia research, concepts, storyboards, planning and production to craft creative communications solutions using a range of media and techniques, including: motion design and storytelling; corporate and commercial videography; sound design and audio editing; human psychology and viewer behaviour. Crafting creative and effective audio visual showcases utilising typography, image making, animation, motion graphics, video, sound, 3D design and visual storytelling.

DIGITAL DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGYF A C U LT Y
Technology is the interface of life. The Digital Design and Technology Faculty focusses on employing strategic design thinking to connect clients with audiences/users in meaningful and authentic ways. While graphic designers focus on crafting visually eloquent, meaningful and strategically integrated communication design, audio visual designers engage audiences with sensory rich narrative multimedia productions. Interaction designers focus on the relationship between the back-end and front-end applications of technology-driven solutions through careful visual design application keeping the user at the centre. Accredited qualifications currently offered in this faculty include; Bachelor of Design (Audio Visual Design), (Graphic Design) and (Interaction Design), Diploma in Graphic Design, Higher Certificate in Design Techniques, Advanced Diploma in User Experience Design and Bachelor of Arts Honours in Design.
FIRST YEAR STUDENTS:
Learn advanced software applications relevant to their chosen specialisation. Apply design thinking, practical skills and specialist knowledge to solve creative challenges. Are introduced to technical requirements and knowledge specific to their discipline.
SECOND YEAR STUDENTS:
Develop an understanding of the guidelines and principles involved in running a design business. Research and conceptualise solutions using critical and innovative thinking.Apply advanced software knowledge to visualise and present complex design solutions.Graduate with a professional portfolio reflecting their own signature design style, ready to take a lead in the industry.
THIRD YEAR STUDENTS:
Develop fundamental design skills and establish the building blocks of creative problem solving.Learn about: Visual Communication, Design Thinking, Design Construction, Design History, Image Making, Communication Studies, Design Praxis, Photographic Studies, Leadership Management, Fabrication and Exposure. Electives include: Visual Design, Creativity and Design, Built Environment, Digital Design & Technology and Business & Communication. Become aware of the integrated nature of design. Learn introductory software applications. Select electives which introduce students to various design disciplines that lead to specialisation in 2nd Year.

ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN USER EXPERIENCE IS ABOUT: Analysing and planning of the user experience journey Research, problem solving, conceptualising, systems design, prototyping, testing, software use and basic coding. Drawing knowledge from design, aesthetics, technology, user experience, intellectual property law, psychology and communication.
Topics covered include: Experimenting with visual communication, animation and special effects, principles and workflow of animation, advertising, corporate and commercial videography, sound and audio mixing, latest design technologies and innovations, modelling and advanced rendering techniques.
Topics covered include: Sound and audio-visual integration, writing for video, storytelling for emotion and persuasion, digital multimedia production skills, motion design, animation, lighting and camera techniques, visual treatment, video technology, set design, sound editing, live sound, broadcasting and music, digital visual effects, editing, visual manipulation, special effects, quality and post-production processes.

Students should have attained a minimum average of 60% in the final level of study in order to be accepted into the programme. Students who wish to take the RPL route will also be considered.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) Applications from students who wish to gain access through RPL will be considered. The RPL process is described in the Inscape Admissions Policy and Inscape RPL Application form.

ARTICULATION:
A one year full time or two years part time programme that provides access into a professional qualification at NQF level 6 and 7.
This qualification is an introduction to visual, creative and digital design. It focuses on applied creativity, basic drawing skills, creative mediums and digital graphics.
