Procedures for National Health Insurance⇒Insurance and

After completing the procedure for entering the

National Health Insurance, you will receive your

health insurance card. The health insurance card

should be shown at the reception of any medical

institution when you are sick, injured, or upon receiving any

Pregnant Mothers and Parents with Infants

For pregnant mothers and parents with infants (up to 7 and1/2

years old), please receive a Maternal and Child Health Handbook

at the ward office.

A Maternal and Child Health Handbook is to keep a

record of pregnancy / childbirth and the child‘s health.

Health check-up tickets for pregnant mothers and

children are also included.

Maternal and Child Health Handbooks are available in 6

languages. ( English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish,

Portuguese, Vietnamese)

To receive the handbook, either of the following is

necessary to confirm your current address:

How to separate and put out garbage for collection

Garbage is separated into several categories and put

out on set collection days.

Oversized garbage will be collected by making a

reservation and paying fee. Electric appliances such

as refrigerators, air conditioners, TVs, personal

computers etc., will not be collected by Yokohama city, they will be

collected separately.

In case of natural disasters

Typhoons, heavy rain, and heavy snow

When a typhoon is approaching, or heavy rain or snow is forecast,

prepare for a natural disaster. Pay attention to the weather

forecasts on the television and radio for any announcements of

"Advisories" or "Warnings".

Prepare a flashlight, mobile phone, radio, etc.

Avoid going outside if it is not necessary.

Preparation for disasters

What to prepare at home

Place a fire extinguisher in your home.

If you use LP gas (propane gas), protect the tank from falling over

or being damaged.

Attach tall or highly placed furniture firmly

to the wall to prevent them from falling over.

Prepare water and emergency food in case of

severe earthquakes.

You should prepare a "survival kit" containing a minimal number

of essential items which you can take when you evacuate after the

disaster. The "survival kit" should contain water, food, flashlight,

and other necessary items to last three days.

Talk with your family, in advance, about how to get in contact or

where to meet when an earthquake occurs.
