� 3 types of companies for livestock insurance on a p rivate basis:
– Specialized companies for livestock insurance ( monoliners ) in few countries (e.g. Switzerland, Germany, Sweden)
– Agricultural insurance companies offering livestock insurance and crop insurance
– Composite insurers offering a wide range of retail products for farmers including livestock and crop insurance

� 4 types of partnership exist in Europe – with particular details in every country
– Part financing of public sector costs with animal health funds
– Compulsory financing of certain private sector costs via special bodies (GDS France, production levy foundat ion DK)
