The Jaeger-LeCoultre Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in Le Sentier, Valee de Joux in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre. After 170 years it is still one of the most important manufacturers of ebauches (raw movements), and has supplied mechanisms to almost all the notable producers of luxury watches, including Vacheron & Constantin and Patek Philippe. Merging with the Alsatian watch factory of Edmond Jaeger in 1925, the name “Jaeger LeCoultre” soon appeared on wrist watch dials. They are a “watch collectors” watch and rank as investment-grade timepieces.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the firm, a men’s Memovox (“voice of memory”) wrist alarm model that dates to ca 1964. This 10kt Yellow Gold filled watch is a hermetic “All Proof” design in excellent original condition – both the dial (with revolving center disk) and case are untouched.
Quadruple-signed for LeCoultre (dial, crowns, case and mechanism), it measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (36mm with JL-signed alarm and winding crowns). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not including the crowns. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original LeCoultre K 910 caliber manual wind mechanism (with two separate mainspring barrels), ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original dial is untouched since it left the factory and in great to excellent condition- just a couple small marks around the dial edge very hard to see with the naked eye. It features raised gold hour markers and numerals, a rotating center disk marked “MEMOVOX” bordered by a silver ring with 60 second track, original gold metal dauphine-style hands with tritium fill and original blue steel ‘sweep’ center seconds hand. Signed LeCoultre below the 12 and T SWISS T at the base of the dial.
The gently domed acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, a new old stock addition. The LeCoultre-signed case is in excellent PLUS order, 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled with curled end lugs.
There are two yellow gold finished winding crowns, both signed “JL” for Jaeger-LeCoultre. Both crowns wind separate mainsprings, one for the alarm (top) and the other for the timekeeping (bottom). The top crown is for winding the alarm and setting it (you set the alarm hand COUNTER clockwise only). The bottom crown is for winding and setting the time feature of the watch. To set the alarm you have the top crown in the IN position – when the alarm goes off you then pull it OUT to stop.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid and the back of the lugs are in excellent PLUS condition – absolutely spotless like the rest of the case. It is signed “10 Karat Gold Filled” at one edge and has never been engraved. On the other edge it is stamped “Use Allproof 1260 Wrench.” As this is a one-piece (mono-shell) case I had my watchmaker take photos of the mechanism and inside case. The fully serviced and clean mechanism is signed LeCoultre Co. – Seventeen 17 Jewels, [Calibre] K910 – Swiss – VXN with serial number

#1,754,319, dating it to ca 1964 – 1965. This mechanism features Kif shock protection and a Spirotor regulator. Please note that the three letter code VXN is for Vacheron & Constantin and was used by LeCoultre (who had close ties with V&C) for watches imported into the USA. That being said, it was made by LeCoultre and not by Vacheron (the VXN mark often confuses newer collectors). The inside case lid is stamped Cased & Timed in U.S.A. by LeCoultre – Star W.C. Co., 10K Gold Filled, 2676-1-910/911.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new deBeer Paris 18mm black lizard (grain) calf leather hand crafted band with gold finished buckle. All in all a beautifully preserved, beautifully designed collectible “Memovox” alarm watch from one of the finest of the Swiss watch makers – this has “great investment” written all over it.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The watchmaker Jacques Didisheim Goldschmidt had his eye on the future when

he founded his watch factory in 1860. He soon moved to the center of Swiss watchmaking activity - La Chaux-de-Fonds. Jacques' son Bernard would later take over the firm, transforming the Juvenia Watch Co. of Switzerland into a successful watch company both within Europe and overseas.
In 1914, the Juvenia watch brand introduced the smallest movement constructed on a single level, with a diameter of 9.5 mm and thickness of just 2.5 mm. Juvenia went on to produce dress watches, sport watches and unique purse and travel timepieces still highly collected today.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, an original Bumper Automatic all stainless steel “Hermetic” model in the military style that dates to the late 1940s. Folks, this is a fantastic watch and I am telling the truth when I say that I must have stared at its untouched, handsome original dial for about 5 minutes when I first saw it.
Triple-signed, this “Auto Strap” model measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (34mm with original, partially recessed crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/2” by just over 1-1/4” wide, not including the winding crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original seventeen jewel, bumper automatic Juvenia mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver enamel finished dial is 100% original and in excellent condition – untouched since it left the factory approximately 65 years ago. It features a 60 second outer track calibrated to 1/5 of a second for precision, Arabic numerals, original blue steel hands with fill and a ‘sweep’ blue steel original center seconds hand. Signed JUVENIA AUTOMATIC below the 12 and SWITZERLAND at the base.
The new old stock hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The two-piece solid stainless steel case is Juvenia-signed and in excellent condition with no flaws, very similar to a Rolex Oyster case of the same era, given its shape and coin-edge (milled edge) back lid. The 100% original (unmarked) stainless crown is in excellent order, partially recessed and operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the screw-down back lid is milled edge and in excellent shape with no personal engravings. It is signed Juvenia Fabrication Suisse – Hermetic – Non Magnetic – Juvenia Mfg. Swiss 35823. Inside I find a metal dustcover, a useful device to protect the mechanism from dust and debris. Removing this reveals a clean and high-grade mechanism, a bumper automatic as nice (if not nicer) than comparable Bumper models by Omega during this period. It is signed JUVENIA AUTOSTRAP, MFG SWISS – SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, FAB. SUISSE.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new and high quality 18mm black deBeer Paris hand crafted lizard grain strap with matching steel buckle. Folks, I have never had a Juvenia bumper

automatic watch before but I doubt very much that I’ll ever wind one again as nice as this. This is definitely one of those watches I’ll be sad to see go but I know its new owner is going to very pleased.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, having first chosen the name Columbian Watch Co. but this name was already copyrighted by the Waterbury Co. The name "Hamilton" was derived from Lancaster’s founding father, Mr. Andrew Hamilton, a Scottish-born attorney who was instrumental in the growth of Lancaster.
By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant watch and during the WWI period a small line of military style watches were available for men. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.
Here is a truly nice example of a men’s “LINDSAY” model by Hamilton, a fancy case model that was introduced in 1952 and not often seen. I would also have to say that this is one of my favorite post WWII models from Hamilton – its design very

“Retro Modern” at a time when most of the company’s designs erred on the conservative side.
Triple signed, it measures 37mm end to end and 23mm in width (25mm with winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 1 inch wide, including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel (752 Grade) manual wind Hamilton mechanism that’s been fully serviced prior to this auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver color, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition - professionally refinished by those who do Hamilton dials the best. It features applied 18k Solid Gold numerals, original gold metal Dauphine-style hands, a 60 minute outer chapter and separate seconds dial hands and a sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer track and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed HAMILTON below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is excellent, clear condition. The 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled case is a Tonneau form in excellent condition, complete with fancy, sculpted lugs. The matching gold finished winding crown, unmarked, is in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the clean back lid features a fine satin finish and is stamped “HAMILTON” at one edge and “10k Gold Filled” on the opposite side. Peeking inside I find a 17 jewel, manual wind movement with Geneva striping signed Hamilton, 17 Jewels, [Grade] 752, USA. The inside of the case lid is stamped LINDSAY - HAMILTON WATCH CO., LANCASTER PA., WADSWORTH - 10K GOLD FILLED with case number below.
This extra nice Hamilton has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping very good, accurate time. It is fitted on a new black 16mm deBeer Paris handcrafted lizard grain calf leather strap with matching gold buckle, ready to be worn and enjoyed. I think you would be hard pressed to find a nicer “Lindsay” model – they don’t come up for sale very often and this is my second that I’ve ever offered for sale.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. In my travels I see many watches, some very high quality, some rare and others quite beautiful. The following timepiece checks all the boxes, I think, and if you think it looks nice in the photographs you’ll be even more pleased with it in person. It was made by the Supreme Watch Co. of Switzerland in the late 1930s and is constructed of Solid Platinum. Adorning this case are a total of 40 Genuine Diamonds, securely set and extending to the lug tips.
This Baguette style watch measures 43mm swivel lug tip to swivel lug tip and 10mm in width (11.7mm with crown). This works out to be 1-3/4 inches long by just over 3/8 of an inch wide, not including the crown. It is fitted on a cord bracelet strap that measures a total length of 7-3/4 inches (easily adjusted smaller). Powering this watch is its original and higher-grade 17 jewel, 5 adjustment mechanism, fully serviced by my expert watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver color, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and has been professionally restored. It features a 60 minute checkered outer track border, black enameled Art Deco style numerals and original blue steel Spade-style hands.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The case is also in excellent condition, a wonderful late 1930s Art Deco beauty crafted of Solid Platinum (10% Iridium, 90% Platinum) and featuring 40 Genuine Diamonds of high clarity that simply SPARKLE. Note the swivel lugs that “contour” to your wrist. The matching color winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent shape - no personal engravings or wear. Peeking inside I find a clean manual wind movement that is signed Supreme, Swiss- 17 Jewels, 5 Adj.. The inside of the back lid is stamped 10% IRID. - PLATINUM .
This lovely timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated just last week by my expert watchmaker to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a black cord bracelet strap in excellent shape, making the total length 7-3/4 inches and

I can easily adjust the size for the winner (just let me know and there’s no charge). Well folks, I wonder who is going to be wearing this beautiful vintage “Supreme” Art Deco gem in just a short time?

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and (comparative) value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
I am pleased to offer for sale this excellent and original vintage ladies “Sculpted Lug” Omega timepiece...crafted of 14kt Solid Yellow Gold and dating to ca 1950. This Swiss made cocktail (or “evening”) watch appears as though it was tucked away somewhere safe for 50 odd years and is in excellent condition, complete with its original Omega display box, as shown. It is also an entirely Swiss made

model, not cased and timed in the USA like most vintage Omega watches you see.
Triple-signed, it measures 28mm end to end and 20mm in width (21.5mm with crown). This equates to 1-1/8 inches long by ¾ of an inch wide, not including the crown and it is fitted on a black cord band that makes the total length 7-3/8 inches long (I can make this smaller or larger too). My expert watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, manual wind Omega mechanism and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The original waffle weave, textured enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, untouched since it left the factory and without flaw. It features applied yellow gold Arabic numerals and hour markers and original gold metal Dauphine-style hands. Signed OMEGA below the 12 marker (with applied yellow gold Omega logo) and SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The gently domed acrylic crystal is in excellent clear condition. The two-piece case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS shape, featuring fancy sculpted lugs. This case is slightly larger for a cocktail model of the era – 20mm wide where most were about 16mm across. The gold finished winding crown (unmarked) is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent PLUS condition with no wear or engravings. Inside I find a clean Seventeen Jewel movement that is signed OMEGA WATCH CO., SWISS, SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, [CALIBER] 244. The serial number is #12,355,594 - dating this watch to ca 1950 as per company production records. The inside of the back lid is stamped 0.585- OMEGA WATCH CO. – FAB SUISSE, SWISS MADE with the Swiss “Squirrel” hallmark for 14k solid gold and case reference numbers as well.
This fully serviced watch has been extremely well cared for and it shows, winding and setting smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new black cord bracelet strap that measures a total length of 7-3/8 inches. If you wish for me to make it smaller (or longer) just let me know and there is no charge. This watch comes complete with its original display case, signed “OMEGA PRECISION WATCH” inside and out. So then, have I interested anyone in this beautiful, original, mid century dress watch? My dog Carl likes it but he keeps losing the watches I give him when we go for a walk!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I’ve always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.”
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s watch from Bulova, a “GOVERNOR” model that dates to 1930. This model is very similar to the second Lone Eagle model but features a plain bezel with engraved sides.
Triple-signed, its 14kt White Rolled Gold plated case measures 37mm end to end and 26.5mm in width (28.5mm with crown). This works out to be approximately 1-1/2” long and 1-1/8” wide, including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 10AN caliber mechanism that has been fully serviced by my Bulova-trained watchmaker David prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time.
The original matte enamel finished dial has been professionally restored to its original status and is in excellent condition, perfectly mimicking an aged luminous number (and hands) dial. It features Arabic numerals, a 60 minute checkered inner track border, original blue steel Skeleton hands and a tonneau-shaped sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ blue steel seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12 and embossed Swiss at the base of the dial, below the bezel.
The new old stock

solid glass crystal is mint condition, made for this very Bulova model. The hinged-back, Tonneau-form case is 14 Karat White Rolled Gold Plated and is in excellent overall shape – a few small scratches perhaps but no wear or signs of abuse, it is very nice. The matching winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent shape, free of any wear or engravings and slightly curved. Inside I find a tried and true 10AN caliber (Fontainemelon) mechanism, complete with a Breguet overcoil hairspring and cut bi-metallic screwed balance. It is signed Bulova Watch Co. Swiss – Fifteen 15 Jewels, Adjusted [Caliber] 10AN. There is also an Omega-type symbol on one of the plates that is Bulova’s date code for 1930. The inside of the case lid is stamped Pat. Jan 11, 1927 – Bulova – 14K Rolled Gold Plate – New York with case reference number below.
This cleaned, oiled & regulated Bulova “Governor” winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. Comes fitted on a new 16mm black lizard grain calf leather strap with matching buckle. All that’s left is a happy wrist to strap it on to – maybe you’ll provide the wrist!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. My longtime favorite U.S. watch firm is the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific American enterprise established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by the City of Elgin, Illinois (the factory had a National Street address). It was a strategic location, right next to the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago, and the Elgin factory would become the focal point of the town.
Elgin would offer its first watch for sale in 1867, marking the beginning of fierce competition with its chief competitor, Waltham, which (ironically) was instrumental in forming Elgin, as two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier of Waltham fame. Bartlett and Currier would later join the Illinois Watch Co. of Springfield.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the firm, a men’s “Durabalance” Model 5922 that dates to the late 1950s and in excellent, original condition, it even comes with its original yellow gold finished Speidel expansion bracelet, as shown below. This watch features a mechanism that was one of Elgin’s last crowning achievements, the 19 jewel Grade 752. What makes this movement special is its “free sprung” balance that dispensed with the conventional regulator pins found in most mechanical movements. The only other movement, Swiss or American, that comes close is Patek-Philippe’s “Gyromax” balance of the same period.
Triple-signed, it measures 38mm lug tip to lug tip and 32.5mm in width (34mm with original winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches in length by 1-1/4 inches in width, not including the crown. My skilled watchmaker David has fully serviced its Durabalance mechanism, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original, untouched cream color, enamel finished dial is in MINT condition – guaranteed untouched since it left the factory over 50 years ago. And this dial is a beauty no less – complete with incised gold hour markers, applied solid gold Arabic numerals every 3 hours, original gold metal Dauphine-style hands and a ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed ELGIN below the 12 with the durabalance symbol below this. It is further signed 19 JEWELS above the 6.
The case is 10K Rolled Gold Plated (with stainless back) and in excellent to mint condition – absolutely spotless and featuring pinched, sculpted lugs. The gold finished winding is original (correctly unmarked) and in spotless shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent shape, free of any personal engravings or wear. It is stamped Durapower- Waterproof – Resistant to Shock, Dust and Magnetism – Elgin - 10K R.G.P. Bezel - Stainless Steel Back. Inside I find a clean, manual wind movement, signed ELGIN 19 JEWELS – USA, 752 – ADJ’D. The inside of the case lid is signed Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co., Star Watch Case Co., – 5922.
This watch has been fully disassembled, cleaned,

oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. It is fitted on a new 18mm black deBeer Paris hand crafted lizard (grain) calf leather strap with matching gold buckle – ready to be shown off to anyone you can corner for a few seconds, even the family pet. It comes complete with the original Speidel USA yellow gold finished expansion bracelet that came with the watch, in excellent shape as well. All in all a midcentury “Retro Modern” all American wristwatch that is as original (and pristine) as they come.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. One of the best-known watch firms in the world today, the Movado Watch Co. of Switzerland took its name from the Esperanto word that translates as “Always in Motion.” Founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881, he soon set up the first factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the “Movado” name first appeared in 1906.
One of the first (if not the very first) watch companies to produce a wristwatch for men, its most famous early design was the Polyplan, followed by military timepieces and triple date watches. Prices continue to rise for the early pieces, thus making them a good investment.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following

vintage men’s timepiece from Movado, an extra nice WWII era military dial model that dates to ca 1942. I’ve always been fond of this particular case design with distinctive lugs (made by none other than Francis Borgel) and it is a model that sold very well for Tiffany & Co. as one of its private label watches.
This all stainless steel watch measures 39.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 28.5mm in width (30.5mm with original steel crown). This works out to be just over 1-1/2 inches long by 1-1/8 inches wide (without the crown) – a fairly common military watch size back then, with Mido, Rolex and Omega all producing in this size. Today, you could best describe it as a“3/4 Size” men’s watch – ideal for a man who prefers a smaller watch or great for a woman’s wrist too. It is powered by its original 15 jewel “Movado Factories” signed mechanism that’s been fully serviced by my watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The two-tone silver, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original status and done to mimic an aged luminous dial. It features a 60 second outer track that is calibrated to 1/5 of a Second for Precision, brown finished Arabic numbers, original blue steel hands with brown fill and a ‘sweep’ center seconds hand (original) with RED arrow tip. Signed MOVADO below the 12 and “Non-Magnetic” above the 6. It is further signed SWITZERLAND at the base of the dial.
The new old stock domed acrylic crystal is excellent condition. The all-stainless case is a beauty with nicely faceted lugs. Condition of the case is excellent overall and it was designed and fabricated by Switzerland’s most regarded case maker – Franis Borgel (est. 1887) – a name that seasoned collectors are familiar with given he was the first to attempt to make a water and dust resistant, hermetic case. It is stamped #188634 between the bottom lugs. The original steel winding crown is in excellent order, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the stainless back lid is a 10 sided, screw-down design in great overall shape (just a few small scratches) with no personal engravings. Peeking inside I see that there is an Inner Dust Cover Lid, a high-quality detail found on only better quality military timepieces. Removing this I find a Fifteen Jewel movement that is signed Movado Factories – 15 Fifteen Jewels – Swiss Made - MXI. The caliber number 150MM is located below the balance wheel. The inside of the outer case lid is fully hallmarked with the Movado trademark (hand holding pocket watch), including FB Key- PATENT + STAINLESS STEEL INAL –188634, FABRICATION SUISSE, with model reference number as well. The “FB” stands for Francis Borgel and the KEY symbol is for Geneva. . Note also that the inside case lid number matches what’s found between the bottom lugs, as earlier shown.
This cleaned, oiled & regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It

is fitted on a dark brown Hadley Roma 16mm leather strap with stainless steel buckle, or I can do a black leather strap, or vintage style canvas military if you prefer. All in all a clean, ready to wear timepiece from one of Switzerland’s best – thanks for taking the time to read my description!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Whether you bid on this watch or not, you are going to want to read the description and look at the pictures of this truly scarce and LONG Lord Elgin watch. It combines a one-of-a-kind dust cover over the 21 jewel mechanism with a highly curved profile featuring coin-edge sides. Indeed, it is one of my favorite Elgin watches ever made! My favorite U.S. watch firm has always been the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific American enterprise established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by the City of Chicago in Elgin, Illinois. It was a strategic location, right next to the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago. By 1867 the first watch was marketed for sale and Elgin was soon competing head-on with its chief competitor, Waltham, who (ironically) were instrumental in forming Elgin, as

two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier.
Here is a truly stellar timepiece from the Elgin firm, a top-of-the-line “Lord Elgin” model in 14kt Yellow Gold fill that dates to 1938. This watch features a high-grade 21 jewel manual wind mechanism, a jewel count not often seen in the 1930s, Elgin or otherwise.
This curved, tonneau-form model measures a long 42.5mm end to end and 22.5mm in width (23mm with original, flush fit crown). In inches this works out to be just shy of 1-3/4 inches in length by just under 1 inch in width, including the crown. It has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David prior to auction and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black, enamel finished dial is the original that has been professionally restored to its original status, perfectly done and without flaw. Features include a gold 60 minute outer track border, gold Breguet-style numbers, original "Arrow Tip" gold metal hands and a recessed, circular sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed LORD ELGIN below the 12 with a gold star below this.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The case is 14 Karat Yellow Gold Filled and in excellent condition, designed to compete head on with the Gruen Curvex models of the day and very comfortable on the wrist. Not only is this a long and curved case but the desirability factor just got a bit higher given its ribbed coin edge sides, a rare design feature on any watch from this period. The original winding crown is gold-finished and original, in excellent shape and recessed into the case slightly to avoid bumps and jolts.
Turning the watch over I note that the curved back lid is in excellent order, stamped “14k Gold Filled” and without any wear or engravings. Removing the back lid I discover something that is quite rare when it comes to American watches of this or any era. This watch has an original factory-installed dust cover to provide an extra layer of protection for the movement. I have only seen this feature on similar age Omega, Zenith and Tissot watches (once on a Gothic Jar-Proof) but all these were Swiss made watches. Needless to say, this is a very, very unusual feature.
Removing this lid by unscrewing the crown/stem first I find a clean (15/0 Size, Caliber 538) Twenty One Jewel, manual wind movement, signed ELGIN – U.S.A. 21 JEWELS with serial number X113050, dating the watch to 1938 as per company records. The inside of the case lid is stamped Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co. – Schwab & Wuischpard – 14k Gold Filled, 578,347.
This cleaned, oiled and regulated timepiece winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new, high quality men’s 14mm black alligator (grain) calf leather strap with gold finished buckle so you’re all set. All in all handsome and hard to find model from one of the best American watch firms, how about placing a bid so I can buy my old dog

Carl some squeaky toys? He keeps chewing them up!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of “Omega” for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following Omega timepiece, a men’s bumper automatic model that dates to 1951. When I say “bumper” I am referring to the design of the mechanism and how a swing rotor literally gets “bumped” back and forth (approximately 270 degrees) to power the mainspring. This differs from most automatic (self-winding) watches that have a rotor that swings 360 degrees in both directions.
This quadruple-signed, 14kt Yellow Gold Filled timepiece measures 38mm end to end and 32.5mm in width (34.3mm with Omega-signed winding crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/2” by 1-1/4” wide, not counting the crown. My talented and

trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 342 caliber, 17 jewel mechanism and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, enamel finish dial has been professionally restored in the recent past and is in excellent condition. This is what’s called (informally) as a “waffle dial” given its textured design. It features a 60 minute outer track, applied solid gold arrow-shape hour markers and Breguet-style numerals, original Dauphine-style gold metal hands (light age) and a crosshair seconds dial with ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed Omega Automatic below the 12 with applied gold Omega symbol and further signed SWISS at the base.
The new old stock hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The three-piece case is 14 Karat Yellow Gold Filled and the body, bezel and lugs are in excellent condition. Note the curving (curled) lugs – very nice. The Omega-signed winding crown is a lighter yellow gold color (as compared to the case) but in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the snap-down back lid is in excellent shape, personally engraved “J.Z. 25 Year Service from Schultz & Co.” but with no wear and this applies to the back of the lugs as well. Inside I find a rose gold finished, automatic wind mechanism that is signed Omega Watch Co., SWISS, Seventeen 17 Jewels, [Caliber] 342, OXG. The serial number is #12,858,936 - dating the watch to ca 1951 as per company production records. The inside of the case lid is stamped 14K GOLD FILLED – OMEGA WATCH CO. – [Model] F6212 with case number below.
This fine old bumper automatic has been fully serviced just last week, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm black deBeer Paris lizard (grain) calf leather strap with gold finished buckle – a fine quality band that’s well-suited to this watch. All in all a vintage Omega that has mid-century charm and is ready to wear – thanks for dropping by to take a peek!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the “Long Meadows” (translated: Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “big boys” of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s solid stainless steel, fancy lug model that dates to ca 1952. When I think of mid-century watch designs this is a classic – timelessly elegant and as “in style” today as it was 60 years ago.
Triple-signed, this watch measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 33.5mm in width (36mm with steel domed crown). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by just over 1-1/4 inches wide, not counting the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 23ZS manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The two-tone silver and ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and without flaw – professionally restored to its original status. It features a 60 second incised silver “dot” outer chapter, raised silver numerals and arrow-shape hour markers, original silver metal Dauphine-style hands (with luminous fill) and an original ‘sweep’ center seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12 with applied silver trademark winged hourglass and SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The domed acrylic crystal in excellent condition with no flaws. The case is a three-piece design that isSolid Stainless Steel and it is in excellent PLUS condition – nicer than my photos convey and featuring faceted “shark tooth” lugs. The matching steel winding crown is unmarked but a very correct style and age so may possibly be original. In excellent shape, it winds and sets smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the stainless back lid is in excellent condition – a screw-down design that is solid and secure with no wear or engravings. Looking inside I find a clean and fully serviced manual wind

mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Seventeen 17 Jewels – Swiss, [Grade] 23ZS with serial number #8,783,925. This number corresponds with a ca 1952 production date. The inside case is finely engine turned and stamped LONGINES WATCH CO., SWISS – ACIER INOXYDABLE –[Model] 6473-1, 1583.
This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new 18mm black hand crafted lizard grain strap by deBeer with matching chrome steel buckle. All in all a fantastic, higher-grade watch from one of Switzerland’s very best, I think the winner is going to be very happy with this one.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1926 by Jacob Schneider as Wullimann, Schneider, Nivada, the Nivada Watch Company of Gretchen, Switzerland was a prominent force within the watch industry for most of the 20th century. They produced a number of

models over the years, including the Aquamatic, Antarctic, Depthomatic and (in 1940) a new watch line called “Croton.”
In my experience as a collector, Nivada Grenchen watches are of very high quality but still a “sleeper” brand when it comes to the general collecting public, much like Mido, Doxa or Wyler. As such, you can find some very high quality, unique models for less than your comparable Longines, Bulova or Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s Nivada model, a new old stock “PROFILE” model that dates to the late 1950s (ca 1957 to 1959). This NOS watch has never been sold or worn before and is complete with its original bracelet, sticker/tag on back lid and hang tag that reads “as advertised in the Saturday Evening Post.” I think this timepiece has a wonderful midcentury “Retro Modern” look and my photos do not do it justice (it was not easy to photograph!).
Triple-signed, it measures 40mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (35.5mm with original crown). In inches this works out to be just shy of 1-5/8” in length by just over 1-1/4” wide, not including the winding crown. My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, manual wind Croton – Nivada Grenchen mechanism and it runs smoothly, keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver enamel dial has a “woven” textured finish to it and is in excellent condition – untouched since it left the factory over 50 years ago. Very striking is its concave gold outer ring, complete with incised hour markers for a modern look. Other features include a 60 minute outer chapter, original gold metal Dauphine-style hands and a crosshair design seconds dial with ‘sweep’ original gold seconds hand. Signed NIVADA GRENCHEN below the Croton emblem and it is further signed SWISS at the base of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The two-piece Nivada signed case is comprised of a 14kt Yellow Gold Electroplated (to 20 microns, as stamped between the lugs) bezel and a stainless steel back lid. Condition is excellent with no wear whatsoever. The original, unmarked gold winding crown is in excellent order as well, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the screw down back lid still has its original sticker attached marked “Profile – Yell. SB 17 JLS.” The case itself is signed Stainless Steel Back – Waterproof – Shock Resistant. Like any vintage watch marked water resistant or waterproof you do not want to go swimming with it – safe that for a new watch rated to 100m or better. Taking a look inside I find a clean and high quality rose gold finished mechanism that is stamped Nivada S.A. – Grenchen, Seventeen 17 Jewels – Croton, R34 – COW,

Swiss. The inside of the case back is stamped Croton – Nivada Grenchen, Base Metal Swiss with case number below.
This timepiece has been fully serviced (disassembled, cleaned, oiled & regulated) to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes complete with its original 17mm wide Champion U.S.A. gold over stainless steel expansion bracelet in excellent shape. The most recent patent number on this bracelet is 2,765,615. This corresponds to a late 1956 patent date, leading me to believe this watch dates to within a few years (1957 – 1959). I am also including a high quality new 17mm black deBeer Paris hand crafted lizard grain strap with gold buckle in case you prefer this look or wish to save the original band from wear. All in all a stylish, mid century modern timepiece as MINT original as they come from one of Switzerland’s better quality firms. My favorite of the U.S. watch firms has always been the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific firm established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by the City of Chicago in Elgin, Illinois. It was a strategic location, right next to the Galena

and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago. By 1867 the first watch was marketed for sale, retailing for $115 (think of that in today’s prices!) and Elgin was soon competing head-on with its chief competitor, Waltham, which (ironically) was instrumental in forming Elgin, as two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier of Waltham fame.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage ladies timepiece from the Elgin firm, a 14kt Solid White Gold Lady Elgin model #7209 that dates to the late 1950s and is excellent condition. Complete with its original red acrylic display box (in excellent shape), this dress watch boasts a very Retro Modern, almost “Harlequin” case design – something you would expect to see from LeCoultre during this time period (they did many unique cases) but quite daring for Elgin. Being a “Lady Elgin” model it is also top-of-the-line, the woman’s equivalent to the “Lord Elgin” series for men.
Triple-signed for Elgin, its case measures 34.5mm end to end and 15mm in width (16.5mm with original winding crown). This works out to be 1-3/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch in width. With black leather strap currently attached (note the original and matching buckle) it will fit a wrist 5 inches to 6-3/4 inches in size. My skilled and friendly watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 700 grade, 21 jewel mechanism to ensure it runs smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The antique white, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition with no flaws. It features applied white gold “dot” and “diamond” shaped hour markers and original silver metal Dauphine-style hands. Signed LADY ELGIN below the 12 marker with “dp” symbol above the 6 (for “Durapower”).
The original diamond shaped acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The case is a beauty, 14 Karat Solid White Gold and faceted on all four sides of the bezel, capturing shadow and light in different ways as you move your wrist. I would call this case “Harlequin” in design and I’ve never seen anything like it before. The original winding crown is white gold finished, (correctly) unsigned and in excellent condition, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent to mint condition without any wear or engravings. It is stamped 14K GOLD at one edge. Peeking inside I find a higher-grade twenty one jewel, manual wind movement signed Elgin [Grade] 700 –21 Jewels, USA - Adj'd. The inside of the case back is stamped [Model] 7209 - Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co. -14K Gold, D&A, with case number below.
This watch has been fully overhauled (disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated) to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 12mm black leather strap with the original matching design buckle transferred over from the original but worn band. This buckle matches the case perfectly. This watch also comes with its original Lucite hinged display case in excellent shape – complete with the Elgin

coat of arms on the outside and signed LADY ELGIN 21 JEWELS – DURAPOWERon the inside, guaranteed to be the original box for this watch and in excellent shape. If you ever wanted a mid century “Retro Modern” designed American watch you would be fairly hard-pressed to find a more unique example than this fancy case model – I really like this one a lot and doubt I’ll find another for quite some time.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. In its glory years from the 1920s through the 1940s, the Gruen Watch Company of USA & Switzerland was one of the leaders in wristwatch design and quality, even collaborating with Rolex (i.e., the Aegler movement duo-dial doctor’s watch) from its factories in Switzerland. Prior to WWII, Gruen was better known in the USA than Rolex, which at that time was concentrating on the British and Commonwealth countries (hence lots of early Rolexes coming out of Australia and the UK). Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as Rolex Gruen in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more urgent matters) prevented this.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece, a “Curvametric Model 413” in 14kt Solid Rose Gold. This Curvex 440 caliber model dates to ca 1947 and is in excellent shape, complete

with a curved body and fancy “incised” curved lugs.
Quad-signed for Gruen (dial, crown, case and mechanism), it measures 38mm end to end and 22mm in width (23.5mm with original rose gold Gruen crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/2” long by 7/8” wide, not including the Gruen crown. My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel Curvex Precision mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and has been professionally restored – it looks very sharp. Features include black enamel painted Arabic numerals, a 60 minute outer chapter, original blue steel leaf style hands and a separate seconds dial with 60 second outer track and ‘sweep’ seconds hand. Signed GRUEN CURVEX below the 12 and PRECISION above the seconds dial. It is further signed SWITZERLAND at the base of the dial, partially hidden by the curvature of the crystal.
Speaking of the crystal, it is a new old stock acrylic example in excellent, clear shape. The 14 Karat Solid Rose Gold case is nicely curved in profile and features unique “notched” (or incised) lugs that are also curved. It is in excellent order. The 100% original rose gold-finished crown is stamped “GRUEN” and in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the curved back lid is in excellent condition and free of any wear or engravings. It is stamped 14K GOLD at one edge. Peeking inside I find a barrel-shaped Curved movement, signed Gruen Watch Co. – Seventeen 17 Jewels – Curvex Precision Pat. – Switzerland, GXC - [Caliber] 440. The inside of the case is signed Cased and Timed in USA by Gruen Watch Co., Wadsworth – 14k Gold – 440/449. Note that the #440 caliber is stamped on the inner lid along with the dial model (#449) as well.
This handsome Curvex Model 413 has been cleaned, oiled & regulated so it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new and high quality 17mm black deBeer Paris handcrafted lizard grain strap with matching ROSE GOLD color buckle, ready to be worn and enjoyed. As I’ve said many times before, owning a nice Gruen Curvex means you’re going to watch it goup in value while you enjoy owning and wearing it. Not a bad deal.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect.
