original manual wind mechanism that is signed Hamilton 748 – Adjusted – 18 Jewels, USA. The movement serial number dates this watch to ca 1952. The inside of the case lid is stamped FLEETWOOD - HAMILTON W. CO., LANCASTER, PA – 14K GOLD –S&W with case number as well. Although I tend to focus on vintage mechanical watches from the 1910s to the 1960s I am also a fan of a good looking watch, regardless its age. This is one such example, purchased from a fellow collector and in excellent pre-owned condition with original display box, outer sleeve and warranty/instruction booklet.
This is a an 18kt yellow gold electroplated (over metal) ladies COACH timepiece, made ca 2003-2004 in Switzerland for Coach, Inc. of New York City, a firm that was founded in 1941. This is the original ladies watch model (W001) and it is guaranteed to be 100% genuine and original. It is no longer produced, making nice original examples like this harder to fin d.
Triple-signed (case, mechanism and band/buckle), it measures 28mm lug tip to lug tip and 21.5mm in width (22.5mm with original crown). This works out to be 1-1/8 inches long by 13/16 an inch wide, not counting the crown. Attached to the watch is its original, gently used Coach-signed black leather strap that will fit a wrist 5-1/2 inches to 6-3/4 inches in size. It is powered by its original Swiss made, precision quartz mechanism that operates smoothly and keeps accurate time.
The original silver, vertically engraved center dial is in mint condition. It features gold metal Lance-style hands, “Exploding” black enamel numerals and 60 minute inner track border. Signed COACH on the case bezel and Swiss Made below the 6.
The genuine mineral crystal is the original and in flawless condition. The Tank form case with a belt buckle design is 18kt yellow gold electroplated over metal. It is in excellent condition. The original setting crown is in excellent order.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is curved to comfortably fit the wrist. It is signed COACH MCS, W001, SWISS MOVEMENT, WATER RESISTANT 3ATM (100 ft). Inside I find a jeweled

Swiss quartz movement that is stamped COACH.
This watch sets smoothly and keeps precision accurate Swiss quartz time. The original black leather strap, 16mm wide, has been worn but is still in great shape, signed COACH on the buckle and on the band. This watch comes complete with its original mahogany color display box (signed COACH) and outer sleeve. It also comes with its original warranty/instruction booklet, as shown. Guaranteed to be 100% genuine and as described so bid with complete confidence. You may just pick up a high-quality Swiss watch for a fraction of what it is worth.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The history of the Girard-Perregaux Watch Company begins in 1791, when the watchmakers Bautte and Mouline founded a factory in Geneva to manufacture watches. In 1856 the watchmaker constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and the unified firm of Girard – Perregaux came into being. In 1906 G. Perregaux acquired the earlier firm of Bautte and Mouline, and today the firm is located in La Chaux-de-Fonds. They have always made a name for themselves in the realm of wristwatches through their unique creativity and high quality mechanisms, one of a select few who produce many of its movements entirely in-house. Today, Girard Perregaux watches are among the most expensive timepieces money can buy.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage G-P men’s timepiece, a Gyromatic (self-winding) model in excellent condition. This triple-signed timepiece dates to the mid 1950s and is quite striking with its Bombe style lugs and crisp antique white enamel dial.
It measures 42mm lug tip to lug tip and 34mm in width (37mm with winding crown). This works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches long by just shy of 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the crown. It is powered by its original and higher grade, 17 jewel rotor automatic Girard-Perregaux mechanism that has been fully serviced by my certified watchmaker David to ensure it is running smoothly and keeping accurate time.
The antique white (ivory) color, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and has been professionally restored to its correct original status. It features a 60 second outer chapter, raised silver arrow-shape hour markers, original Lance-style silver metal hands with luminous fill (glows) and a SWEEP original center seconds hand. Signed Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic below the 12 and Swiss at the base of the dial.
The gently domed acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The GP-signed case is solid stainless steel and in excellent PLUS shape, my photographs do not really do it justice. I especially love the swooping and curved Bombe lugs – what a beautiful case. The stainless steel winding crown, unmarked, is in excellent condition, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch

over I see that the screw-down, stainless back lid is in excellent overall shape and free of any wear or engravings. Inside I find a beautiful and higher grade rotor automatic mechanism that is signed Girard-Perregaux & Co., Seventeen 17 Jewels, 47EU 753 Swiss, GXM. The inside case lid is stampedGIRARD PERREGAUX 1791 SWISS, STAINLESS STEEL, 616932448R. Unlike many vintage Girard Perregaux watches you see today that were cased and timed in the USA, this example was made entirely in Switzerland, as noted by the inside lid markings.
This fine Bombe lug timepiece has been cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets effortlessly, keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 18mm black ostrich (calf) leather strap with matching steel buckle. All in all an extremely handsome, high quality vintage watch from one of Switzerland’s very best. I think the winner is going to very pleased!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, producing pocket watches mainly of railroad grade. By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant watch and by 1919 a small line of wrist watches were available, but for women only! Yes, Hamilton entered the men’s wristwatch market rather late, introducing their first non-military men’s watches in November 1922, a good 10 years after Illinois, Elgin and Waltham. They quickly caught up with the other American firms, producing the highest-grade American watches ever made.
I am happy to offer for sale the following vintage 1960s Hamilton timepiece, a ladies 14kt Solid White Gold model that features Two (2) Genuine Diamonds that is in excellent, original condition. This watch is quadruple-signed for Hamilton, on the dial, winding crown, case and mechanism. It also comes with its original 10kt white gold filled bracelet, in excellent shape and able to fit a wrist up to 6-1/2 inches (if you need a longer length let me know and I can obtain a cord band for you).
It measures 29mm end to end and 16.5mm in width (18.5mm with original Hamilton signed crown). This converts to just over 1-1/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, not counting the Hamilton winding crown. It is powered by its original and high-grade USA made 751 caliber, 17 jewel manual wind movement, one of the last made by Hamilton in the United States. My watchmaker David has fully serviced it just last week, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in flawless condition, untouched since it left the factory, my guarantee. This dial features applied silver hour markers and original

Baton-style, silver steel hands. Signed HAMILTON below the12 with the company trademark above the 6.
The original acrylic crystal is in perfect, condition. The case is also flawless, a wonderful 1960s Retro Modern beauty crafted of 14 Karat Solid White Gold and featuring 2 Genuine Diamonds of high clarity that are securely set. The original Hamilton-signed white gold finished winding crown is in excellent condition, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent shape, stamped 14K GOLD and also HAMILTON. Peeking inside I find a clean barrel-form movement with fancy Geneva striping, signed Hamilton USA, 17 Jewels [Grade] 751.. The inside of the case back is stamped HAMILTON W. CO., LANCASTER, PA, 14K GOLD, 76045 with case number as well.
This new old stock condition timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with its original 10kt white gold filled herringbone pattern bracelet that measures a total length of 6-1/2 inches. If you need a shorter band or longer I can provide a black cord band at no charge. Well then, who is going to be the new owner of this beautiful, diamond encrusted Hamilton? My dog Carl said he wanted to wear it but I do not trust him as he has stolen and then lost at least fifty watches since he arrived at my doorstep!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The history of the Girard-Perregaux Watch Company begins in 1791, when the watchmakers Bautte and Mouline founded a factory in Geneva to manufacture watches. In 1856 the watchmaker constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and the unified firm of Girard (and) Perregaux came into being.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, an original 14kt Solid Yellow Gold mid-century Retro Modern dress model that dates to the early 1960s. This watch is quadruple-signed and in excellent condition, everything is original except for the new deBeer Paris lizard grain band.
Its Tank form case measures 33mm lug tip to lug tip and 25mm in width (27mm with

original GP gold crown). This works out to be just over 1-1/4 inches long by 1 inch wide (without the crown), a smaller gents watch by today’s standards. It is ideal for the gentleman who prefers a smaller watch or for a woman who prefers a larger size vintage timepiece. It is powered by its original and higher grade, 17 jewel manual wind Girard-Perregaux mechanism that has been fully serviced to ensure it is running well, keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, woven finish dial is in excellent condition, guaranteed untouched since it was first sold. Being a Retro Modern dress model the design is minimalist in style, featuring applied yellow gold hour markers and original gold metal Dauphine-style hands. Signed Girard-Perregaux below the 12 and Swiss at the base of the dial.
The original solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The two-piece, GP-signed case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent shape. The original GP signed gold winding crown is in excellent condition too, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent order like the rest of the watch, free of any wear or engravings, past or present. It is stamped 14K at one edge. Inside is a clean, higher grade mechanism signed Girard-Perregaux, Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss, GXM. The inside case lid is stampedG/P 2102, J11446, 14K. The J with an arrow going through it is the trademark for the Jonell Watch Case Company, maker of this case for Girard Perregaux.
This wristwatch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly, keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 17mm black deBeer Paris lizard (grain) leather strap with matching gold color buckle. I think this is an excellent example of what midcentury Retro Modern design was all about. Coming from one of Switzerland’s finest watch firms and being in such immaculate original shape makes it that much nicer.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. In my search for nice vintage watches there is always one that is a bit different from the others and has an interesting feature or detail that sets it apart from the others. This is one such timepiece, a men’s mechanicalAlarm model produced by the J.P. Pingouin Watch Company of Switzerland, dating to the mid 1960s and in excellent ORIGINAL condition.
This timepiece, marketed under the Paul Peugeot in the United States, is truly in excellent original order. Only the deBeer Paris lizard grain strap is new. Its case measures 42mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (37mm with original crowns). This works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not including the winding and alarm crowns. It has been fully serviced prior to auction and its 17 Jewel, manual wind mechanism (AS 1475 calibre with two mainspring

barrels) winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver color, finely brushed enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and without flaw, guaranteed untouched since it was made. It features a 60 second outer chapter, raised silver hour markers with tritium dots, original silver steel hands with tritium fill, a squiggle shaped ALARM hand with red arrow tip and sweep central seconds hand Signed Paul Peugeot below the 12 and 17 JEWELS - INCABLOC above the 6. It is further signed SWISS MADE at the base of the dial. The Incabloc reference is regarding the shockproof balance assembly of the movement.
The original acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The case is a two-piece, solid stainless steel example with separate screw-down back ring. It is in excellent shape with just a few small, light scratches noted for accuracy only. The matching and original steel winding crowns are in excellent shape and correctly unmarked. The top crown is used to set and wind the alarm (setting the hand BACKWARDS only) and wind the alarm while the bottom crown is for winding and setting the timekeeping mechanism. And yes, the alarm function buzzes loudly and should wake even the deepest sleeper!
Turning the watch over I note that the stainless back lid features a separate, screw-down stainless steel ring. This ring is signed Swiss Made, Water Proof, Antimagnetic, Incabloc, Stainless Steel. Below is the original rubber O-ring, in excellent shape. While stamped waterproof I would not get any vintage watch intentionally wet, save that for a new 200 meters rated divers watch. Inside is a clean, high quality A. Schild caliber 1475 mechanism, produced form ca 1954 to 1970 so you know that you will never have problems finding parts, if ever needed. This movement is signed J.P. Pingouin, Swiss, 17 Seventeen Jewels . The caliber number is found below the balance wheel and it is A.S. 1475 (A. Schild, Grenchen). The inside case lid is stamped Montres Eriam, Swiss Made.
This watch has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time and the alarm functions perfectly. It comes complete with a new 17mm black deBeer Paris lizard (grain) calf leather strap with matching gold finished buckle. All in all an excellent and very original 1960s alarm watch that is ready to be worn and enjoyed. I really love these watches for their added complication and uniqueness.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal

Founded by Ariste Calame in the City of Le Locle in 1882, the Zodiac Watch Co. of Switzerland has long been a sought-after watch amongst collectors, especially those who appreciate vintage sport and diving watches. The

Zodiac name was used very early on but was not registered until 1908.
The firm exhibited at the Basle Watch Show in 1949 with the Datagraphic, a calendar watch with moon phases and the Autographic, a self-winding model with visible power reserve indicator that was the official watch of the Swiss Federal Railways. By the late 1950s the Sea Wolf divers watch and Rotographic rotor automatic models would be introduced.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s watch from the firm, a pre-owned Desert Master triple register Swiss chronograph divers model in excellent, all original shape. They do not make this model any more making it a harder one to find. This bronze dial, stainless steel model ZO7009 watch comes complete with its original Zodiac-signed brown leather, Flieger style riveted strap with Zodiac-signed buckle. This watch has been owned and worn but is in excellent original shape.
Folks, I cannot think of another all Swiss made dive watch that gives you more BANG for your buck, the fit and finish is excellent, the smallest dial details very crisp. Being rated to 100 meters (330 feet) also means you can get this one wet – in the ocean, in the pool, you name it, just put on a rubber or nylon strap.
Quadruple-signed for Zodiac, its solid stainless steel case measures 48mm lug tip to lug tip, 14.5mm thick and 40mm in width (44mm with Zodiac-signed crown). It is powered by its original Zodiac precision Swiss jeweled quartz mechanism that keeps precision accurate time. Indeed, I have just installed a new battery as of May 3, 2013 so you’re good for at least another 3 years.
The bronze/brown enamel finished dial is in mint condition, featuring a red & white 60 second outer chapter (calibrated to 1/5 of a second), applied silver and white (luminous) hour markers, a quick change date window at the 4 position, original silver steel hands with luminous fill and silver fly back center seconds hand. Signed ZODIAC 1882 below the company symbol and SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
There are three sub-registers on the dial. The left register is a 30 minute chronograph timer. The right register is a 60 second timer. The bottom register is a 12 hour timer. Instructions on setting and how to use the chrono functions are easily found online by searching under Zodiac model ZO7009.
The hardened mineral crystal is in mint condition. The two-piece case is a solid stainless steel of good weight, brushed (satin) finish along the bezel corners and polished on the

numbered bezel. It is in excellent shape with just a couple small, light scratches on the side. The setting crown (used for date as well) features the Zodiac emblem and is excellent like the rest of the watch, as are the chrono pushers.
Turning the watch over you will see that the stainless, screw fit back lid is finely executed with an engraved Zodiac symbol in the center, very topnotch and quite impressive. The lid is signed SWISS MADE, 100 METERS/330 FEET, ZO7009 with serial number 01273. Inside there is a precision Swiss quartz mechanism inside that keeps spot-on, accurate time.
This timepiece comes with its original 24mm dark brown leather double rivet Flieger style strap signed Zodiac on the brushed finish stainless steel buckle. It is in excellent, gently used shape. Note: It does NOT come with any box or papers, just the watch as you see it. A finely executed, heavy duty Swiss DESERTMASTER chronograph that is perfect for work, travel, the ocean - where you want your wrist to look good but do not want to spend a lot (for Swiss quality) in the process. You cannot go wrong.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. I’ve always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B U L O V A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.”
The following is an extremely nice 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold men’s Tank form watch, dating to 1946 and complete with Peaked & Facetedlugs. This is the Tuxedo model (also called the “Craftsman” in some advertisements), introduced after WWII as part of Bulova’s Excellency group of watches, all with 21 Jewels and made right here in the USA.
Triple-signed for Bulova, it measures 39mm end to end and 21mm in width (22.5mm with crown). In inches, this works out to be just over 1-1/2” long by 7/8” wide. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 21 jewel mechanism and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original, correct status. This dial features a 60 minute outer chapter, gold numerals and applied solid gold hour markers, Leaf-style hands and a separate sub-seconds dial with 60 second

outer track and sweep original gold seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12.
The curved acrylic crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The curve sided, rectangular form case is 14kt Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS condition. Take a look at the lugs on this model, faceted and rising to a peak, what the Tuxedo model is known for. The crown is a matching yellow gold finish, unmarked and in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is solid 14kt yellow gold and in excellent order, stamped 14K GOLD - BULOVA with case number along the opposite edge. This was a presentation watch and it is signed To One I Love – Bernice. I love such engravings, as they speak to the history of the watch and how Bernice felt about the person she gave it to. Peeking inside I find a fully serviced and high-grade Twenty One Jewel movement signed Bulova Watch Co., [Caliber] 7AK, 21 Jewels, USA. There is also a SQUARE stamp on the mechanism, indicating a 1946 production date. The inside case back is stamped BULOVA, 14K SOLID GOLD, NEW YORK.
This fully serviced timepiece winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm deBeer hand crafted Ostrich grain strap with matching yellow gold finished buckle, a high quality band for a high quality watch. My photos do NOT do this one justice folks, it is truly a beautiful model in pristine shape.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Among new and old watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then the company has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is also my favorite Swiss watch firm, unsurpassed when it comes to style and high quality for a not (as of yet) crazy high price.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s Omega timepiece, a WWII period Breguet hands model in excellent condition that dates to 1943. This watch is quadruple-signed for Omega – on the dial, winding crown, case and mechanism.
Its stainless steel, Omega-signed case measures 39mm end to end and 32mm in width (34mm with original Omega signed steel crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1-1/2 inches long by 1-1/4 inches wide, not including the Omega winding crown. It is powered by its original R17.8 SC caliber, 17 jewel, manual wind mechanism, fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David to ensure accurate timekeeping.
The ivory color,

enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct original status. It features a 60 second outer track border (calibrated to 1/5 of a second for precision), raised silver Arabic numerals, original silver steel Breguet style hands with luminous fill and a sweep original blue steel sweep seconds hand. Signed OMEGA below the 12 with trademark Omega symbol and SWITZERLAND at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, a later replacement although the original would have also been acrylic for durability and resistance to shattering. The two-piece case is solid stainless steel and in excellent PLUS condition, truly spotless. The original Omega-signed steel winding crown is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find a stainless steel, screw-down back lid in excellent shape, professionally signed From Ma & Pa Moll – 1943.. Inside I find the original Omega rectangular movement (set within a round protective guard), signed Omega Watch Co., SWISS, Seventeen 17 Jewels , OXG with caliber number of R17.8 SC stamped below the balance wheel. The serial number is #9,646,124. The inside of the case lid is finely engine turned and stamped ACIER INOXYDABLE, OMEGA, FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE with case number below.
This fine watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. It is fitted on a new and high quality 18mm black deBeer hand crafted Ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with matching steel buckle. All in all a great example of a Second World War non-ordnance officer dial timepiece, my photos do not do this one justice.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1926 by Jacob Schneider as Wullimann, Schneider, Nivada, the Nivada Watch Company of Gretchen, Switzerland was a prominent force within the watch industry for most of the 20th century. They produced a number of models over the years, including the Aquamatic, Antarctic, Depthomatic and (in 1940) a new watch line called CROTON.
In my experience as a collector, Nivada Grenchen watches are of very high quality but still a sleeper brand when it comes to the general collecting public, much like Mido, Doxa or Eterna. As such, you can find some very high quality, unique

models for less than your comparable Longines, Bulova or Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s Nivada model, a fancy lug, stainless case ALERT ALARMmodel that dates to the mid 1950s and is in excellent, original condition. Before I say anything else I want to emphasize that this is a watch that stopped me dead in my tracks when I first saw it; the original dial is a knockout with the nicest even patina of age. My photos do not, I repeat do not, do it justice.
Triple-signed, it measures 42mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (35.5mm with original crowns). This works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches in length by just over 1-1/4 inches wide, not including the winding and alarm crowns. My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, twin mainspring barrel, manual wind Croton – Nivada Grenchen mechanism and it runs smoothly, keeping accurate time.
The 100% original ivory color, enamel finished dial has an engine-turned (textured) center and is in excellent condition, untouched since it left the factory over 65 years ago. It features incised arrow head hour markers, Arabic numerals, original silver steel hands with (new) luminous fill, an inner alarm track with RED tip alarm hand and a sweeping original blue steel center seconds hand. Signed NIVADA GRENCHEN below the Croton name and further signed WATERPROOF ALERT above the 6. It is also signed SWISS at the base of the dial.
The acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The case is a two-piece, solid stainless steel example with separate stainless screw-down back. It is in excellent PLUS shape with fancy, curvilinear lugs, as shown.
The matching and original steel winding and alarms crowns are in excellent shape and correctly unmarked. The top crown is used to set and wind the alarm (setting the hand BACKWARDS only) and wind the alarm while the bottom crown is for winding and setting the timekeeping mechanism. And yes, the alarm function buzzes loudly and should wake even the deepest sleeper!
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid features a separate, screw-down stainless steel ring. The back is signed Croton Alert, Nivada Grenchen, Incabloc, Waterproof, Stainless Steel, 52 15339. While stamped waterproof I would not get any vintage watch intentionally wet, save that for a new 200 meters rated divers watch. Inside is a

clean, high quality A. Schild caliber 1475 mechanism, one of the most successful Swiss alarm movements made from 1954 to 1970. It is signed Croton, Nivada S.A., Grenchen, A3MA, C2314, 17 Seventeen Jewels, Swiss, COW. The inside case lid is stamped NIVADA SA, GRENCHEN, CROTON SWISS, BASE METAL with case number below. Please note that the base metal does refer to Stainless Steel in this situation – the watch is 100% stainless and is signed as such on the outside back lid.
This watch has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time and the alarm functions perfectly. It comes complete with a new 18mm black deBeer Paris Ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with matching steel buckle. All in all an excellent and very original 1950s Nivada Grenchen alarm watch that is my PICK for the week. I have not come across a watch with such vintage wrist appeal as this one in a long time.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in Le Sentier, Valee de Joux in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre. After 170 years it is still one of the most important manufacturers of ebauches (raw movements), and has supplied mechanisms to almost all the notable producers of luxury watches, including Vacheron & Constantin and Patek Philippe. Merging with the Alsatian watch factory of Edmond Jaeger in 1925, the name Jaeger LeCoultre soon appeared on wrist watch dials. They are a watch collectors watch and rank as investment-grade timepieces.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the firm, a men’s original Powermatic (wind indicator) model that dates to ca 1954. More specifically it is a Nautilus 9734 model, set within a beefy (good weight) 10kt Yellow Gold filled case with flared, sculpted lugs. Note the pristine original dial and the ORIGINAL calfskin LeCoultre-signed band as well, shown in one of my photos. When new it retailed for $89.50 and was imported by Longines-Wittnauer since LeCoultre was a division of its operations in the United States and Canada.
Triple signed for LeCoultre (dial, case and mechanism), it measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 33.5mm in width (35mm with winding crown). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by 1-5/16 inches wide, not including the original, unmarked crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original LeCoultre 481 caliber bumper automatic mechanism, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The original silver, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, untouched since it left the factory. It features raised gold Breguet style numerals, a 60 second inner track border, original gold metal Lance-style hands and a sweep original blue steel center seconds hand. Signed

LeCoultre Automatic below the 12 and SWISS below the 6. I have shown a CLOSE UP photo so you can see the Swiss at the base of the dial, typically concealed by the crystal.
Below the 12 is the wind indicator window and it displays the reserve time up to 40 hours. Please note that the color of this rotating disk changes to RED when it gets down to 10 hours in time but I took the photos when it was between 30 and 40 hours of reserve.
The gently domed acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The LeCoultre-signed case is in excellent PLUS order, 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled with a nice heft to it. I did not know it was not solid gold until I looked inside at the markings. Note the fancy, flared and stepped lugs on this one, pristine like the rest of the case. Again, there is ZERO wear or brassing on this case, anything that suggests otherwise is glare or shadows. The winding crown, unmarked, is the original gold finished example in excellent condition, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the screw down back lid and the back of the lugs are in excellent PLUS condition, absolutely no wear or engravings past or present. Inside I find a high-grade Seventeen Jewel bumper automatic mechanism that rotates approximately 290 degrees back and forth like an Omega bumper model. It is signed LeCoultre Co., Swiss, Seventeen 17 Jewels, [Caliber] 481, AUTOMATIC, VXN. The serial number is #679,855. The inside case lid is stamped Cased & Timed in U.S.A. by LeCoultre, 10k Gold Filled with model number 9734 below.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new deBeer 18mm black crocodile (grain) calf leather hand crafted band with gold finished buckle. Also included is the original tan calfskin strap signed LeCoultre on the underside and with matching 10kt Yellow Gold filled (as stamped) buckle. This band is in great shape, looks like it was worn for about 6 months only. All in all a beautifully preserved, beautifully designed collectible NAUTILUS power reserve watch from one of the finest of the Swiss watch makers. This one is as close to new old stock as you can hope for.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers.
