NATIONAL PARK WADDEN SEA

Ribe, the oldest town in DenmarkRibe is the oldest town in Denmark, founded by the Vikings in c. 700. In the latter half of the 12th century, Ribe Cathedral was erected in its present form. In the 16th century, Ribe was one of the largest towns in the country. Feel the presence of history in Ribe’s well-preserved medieval town centre with more than 100 listed buildings.

The Wadden Sea National Park is one of the most important wetland areas in the world. Every year, it is visited by 10-12 million birds. Denmark’s largest population of common seals is also to be found in the Wadden Sea. Experience seal safari, ”black sun”, oyster tours, tractorbus to Mandø or Wadden Sea expeditions for the whole family.

Ribe Byferie Resort is one of Denmark’s most popular holiday resorts. The holiday centre is owned by the fund Fonden Ribe Byferie Resort, a non-profit organisation. The purpose of the fund is to operate, maintain and upgrade the holiday centre with emphasis on maintaining the very high standards. Ribe Byferie Resort was inaugurated in 1995. Today, it is one of Denmark’s most popular holiday centres. Fonden Ribe Byferie supports various sporting and cultural events. In co-operation with several hospitals, we arrange yearly holidays for families of seriously-ill children.
