MIDDLEBURY — Mary Johnson Chil-dren’s Center presents the 21st annual Festival of Wreaths, in Middlebury’s beautiful Town Hall Theater on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The festival, featuring food, mu-sic and seasonal inspiration, will have on view over 100 beautiful wreaths showcasing the amazing talents of Addison County merchants, businesses and friends of the center.

The Festival of Wreaths is one of the most loved and well-attended holiday events in Ad-dison County and serves as the official start of

the holiday season. Visitors will experience a wonderland of creativity and generosity as they bid for their favorite wreaths in the silent auction of decorated wreaths or they can sim-ply enjoy their time visiting with neighbors and friends. There is a suggested donation at the door.

The Festival of Wreaths is a benefit for the children of Addison County served by Mary Johnson Children’s Center in Middlebury and the Middlebury Cooperative Nursery School in East Middlebury.

BRISTOL — Bristol will be bustling with a full month of holiday activities and celebrations through December, offering great excuses to visit one of Addison County’s most quaint villages.

Crafts sales and holiday bazaars will be the watchword the first weekend in December as Bristol’s Cool Yule events begin.

A yummy holiday tradition will continue on Friday, Dec. 6, with the sixth annual Chocolate Walk, held from 5 to 8 p.m. Businesses will be open late and will offer a complimentary chocolate treat to customers that come in to visit. Follow the map (available in the stores) so you don’t miss any chocolate opportunities. It’s free.

While you’re in town stop in at Holley Hall for the Midd Winds Holiday Concert on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Enjoy the music as 40 members from mostly Addison County draw from a classical wind ensemble and concert band repertoire to provide music of the season to help inspire your holiday mood. Admission by donation to the Midd Winds Music Fund.

This year the Bristol Recreation Department is sponsoring a Memorial Tree on the Town Green that will be lit on this first Friday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

If you would like to purchase a memory tree bulb as a symbol of loved ones present or past

the cost is $5.00 per bulb. The deadline to order tree bulbs is December 2. You can purchase bulbs at area merchants, the Town Clerk’s office and Bristol Recreation Department office or you can mail your names and payment to Bristol Recreation Dept. P.O. Box 249 Bristol, VT 05443.

Mr. Claus himself invites you to dine with him at the ‘Breakfast with Santa’ event on Saturday, December 14 at Holley Hall. In addition to pancakes, sausage and hot and cold beverages, families will enjoy carriage rides, arts and crafts projects, live music and, of course, visits with Santa!

There will be three seatings for breakfast, the first at 8:30, second at 9:30 and third at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $5, on sale now at the Bristol Recreation office.

Following his breakfast event, Santa Claus will be making phone calls to local children to talk about holiday wishes and spread his jolly cheer. To schedule a phone call from Santa, please complete a registration form on the Bristol Recreation website by December 10. Santa makes his calls on Wednesday Dec. 18 and Thursday Dec. 19 between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Priority will be given to calling younger

STARKSBORO, Vt. — The annual Christmas Candlelight service at the historic Starksboro Village Meeting House will be held on Sunday, December 22, at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. John Burbank will lead a program of lessons and carols. The sanctuary will be lit with many candles and the 1884 mirrored oil lamp chandelier. This non-denominational service has been held for nearly 50 years and is a Christmas tradition for many area residents.

Enjoy the spirit of the season in this historic building, singing favorite hymns, and the Christmas gathering afterwards with Christmas cookies and hot cider. Everyone is welcome. Please join us. The building is on Route 116 in Starksboro

Warm up your pipes and join in on Friday, Dec. 20 for Community Christmas Caroling, sponsored by the Bristol Recreation Department at 6 p.m. Meet in front of Holley Hall and plan to walk around the community singing joyful

holiday tunes. An adult must accompany all children under 10.

If you’ve still got any energy left after Christmas, rev up to ring in the New Year on Tuesday, Dec. 31, with the seventh annual Bristol Best Night. This community New Year’s Eve celebration begins at 4:00 p.m. and includes many talented local performers appearing at three downtown venues: Holley Hall, The Walkover Gallery and the Bristol Baptist Church. Featuring face painting, live music, food and activities for the kids, this is a great opportunity to welcome the New Year with the whole community.

Tickets for $8 can be purchased at local merchants before Dec. 25 or are available for $10 at the door.

VERGENNESHoliday StrollVERGENNES — The Little City of

Vergennes will be in full holiday spirit this season at the annual Holiday Stroll, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, as well as other themed days of holiday cheer. Participants will enjoy a festive collection of activities ranging from a breakfast with Santa Claus at the Vergennes Union High School cafeteria to the 13th annual Winter Craft Fair at Vergennes Union Elementary School, to a stroll down Main Street ringing bells and singing songs with Santa and his elves.

Musical guests Maiden Vermont, Jon Gailmor, the Champlain Brass Quintet and Dickens Carolers will fill the day with

music while stories and lessons will be read throughout the day to help spread the holiday message of togetherness and joy.

Many businesses around Vergennes will be hosting donation boxes for the Community Food Shelf, where gifts of non-perishable food items would be accepted at any of those participating locations.

The day’s celebrations wind up with the Lighting of City Park and the Memory Tree with Mayor Benton, along with a caroling session and the Addison County Gospel Choir to send everyone home with a cheery spirit.
