When they arrived, they had nothing to eat. They didn't know how to grow plants. The Indians (native people) helped them and gave them corn, pumpkin and turkey. It was a great dinner for the Puritans. They were so thankful to the Indians. Since that time the Americans celebrate the Thanksgiving Day every year in autumn.
