“The man’s best friend,” they are called.

Dogs, indeed, provide a level of company no

other pet can match. The fun and excitement

are just different compared to owning a cat, a

rabbit, or a turtle. But as with any pet, dogs

need good care – and not just proper care.

What they need is holistic care. For every dog

owner, these three core areas sum up what it

means to care for their pet(s) the holistic way.

Proper Diet

Most people think that what the

store-bought dog food provides is enough.

But in most cases, this may not be enough

to provide a balanced diet for dogs.

Although it may seem like a hassle, pet

owners are better off finding out what

exactly their pet needs.

With proper nutrition, dogs would live

longer and stay disease-free. Of course,

diet does not guarantee the absence of

health conditions per se, but it definitely

does a good job of keeping them at bay.

Adequate Exercise

There is a reason vets advise dog owners to walk their pets. First of all, it is to

counter the prevalence of fat dogs. Like humans, overweight dogs run the risk

of facing different health conditions like a heart attack.

The backyard may have enough space, but it is just one part of the equation

to provide a dog with adequate exercise. The routine walks are necessary. The

fresh air outside, the sun, and the walk are all helpful. Not only does this help

the dog stay in shape; it also strengthens the bond between the owner and the

pet.

Safe Medication

Lastly, owners must be conscious about the medication they give their pets.

Every condition must have proper diagnosis to make addressing it a whole lot

easier. Natural treatments are helpful. For example, peppermint and catnip go

a long way in treating motion or car sickness. Nevertheless, proper diagnosis is

necessary before this becomes good for pets. In other cases like pain control,

it is better to see a vet or to compound medication to improve the

effectiveness of the treatment.

When pet owners care for their dogs, everything becomes better.
