Stewardship reminds us to count our blessings, acknowledge God’s gifts to us and express thanks to Him. We sincerely thank the 255 families in our parish who, as good stewards, have made a gift to Project Advance. If you have not made a gift to Project Advance, please consider doing so. Project Advance is accepting donations throughout the year. Online donations may be made at www.rcav.org.

Our annual Salmon BBQ proved to be, once again, a great success!! The large turnout of our community was heartwarming. There is no doubt that the weather was on our side! Fr. Robert & I not only thank all of you, but a “special thanks” is given to all those volunteers who made that day

so special. This year we had many new volunteers and new leaders for the event and we were very impressed with the smooth transition. This is a good sign that we can evolve and grow from past experience. Did you notice the decorations and balloons this year?

Speaking of our parish involvement and support. Don’t know if you have happened to read in a recent edition of the B.C. Catholic, that on September 6th at St. Patrick’s Church, Archbishop J. Michael Miller recognized over 102 Altar Servers from 51 local parishes, including ours. From Holy Cross, the recipients of the award were Teresa and Maria Gazzola. Congratulations!

Our Adoration Chapel is basically finished, except for a few touchups here and there. From my observation, I notice it is definitely being used daily by individuals or groups. I extend a personal invitation to each and every one to come and spend some “quality” time with Our Lord. It is in this peaceful atmosphere that you can connect and share your innermost cares and concerns with Him.

I am very pleased to say that Holy Cross is definitely taking another step forward by automating our weekly collection procedures. Beginning on OCTOBER 01, 2014, we will put into place the Pre-Authorized Offertory Payment Plan. This is for our parishioners who wish to make their weekly contribution (white Sunday envelopes) by allowing their Visa/Master Card to be debited on the first of each month. Many parishes in our Diocese have implemented this practice and have found it to be successful. God bless!Fr. Maciej Wos SDS

All young adults between the ages of 18-35 are welcome to attend. It is an Archdiocesan policy that pilgrims be at least 18 years of age at the time of World Youth Day. The cost will vary depending on what each group is planning. Contact your parish or another group to find out what the estimated costs will be. Prepare to budget between $2500 and more. If you are interested, please come to our first meeting with Fr. Maciej on October 2nd at 7 pm (church basement).
