Without the Lord who opens our minds to them, it is impossible to understand the Scriptures in depth. Yet the contrary is equally true: without the Scriptures, the events of the mission of Jesus and his Church in this world would remain incomprehensible. Let us make a concerted effort to give me each day to feed our minds and hearts with something from the treasure of our Bible. With so many of our parishioners from Kerala, I thought it would be good for you all to know that my Christmas break was spent there. For eleven days I travelled from Irijalakuda, to the landing stop of St. Thomas the Apostle, then on to the Vazhachal waterfalls. We also visited Trissur and then to an Elephant refuge. The Idukki Dam was splendid and from there we moved to Munnar. Sightseeing there along with tradional fesval, music and dance was quite an eye-opener. Tea factory and chocolate factory was a must and the tradional massage! Kumarakam was beauful with a day on the Houseboat – very relaxing on Punnamada Lake. The end of the trip saw us in Cherai, Fort Kochi and Angamaly. It was wonderful me seeing different sights, eang lots of new foods, and of course lots of churches including the church of St. Thomas at Malayaoor. I have previously visited Bombay (Mumbai), Goa and Sri Lanka and thought I would keep the best unl last – which I believe I have done. MEMORARE REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protecon, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was leſt unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my peons, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen

Sunday cycle Readings Year A

Psalms week 3

Sunday 26th January 2020 3rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

(OF THE WORD OF GOD) Readings for this Sunday are on page 127 of the Parish Mass Book

The Year of the Bible: this weekend we begin in earnest to open up the great treasure of our Sacred Scripture. Scripture is foundational to the life of the Catholic Church and so we should want to celebrate, share and live out our faith through deeper Scriptural engagement. Pope Francis wrote: “The relationship between the Risen Lord, the community of believers and the sacred Scripture is essential to our identity as Christians. Without the Lord who opens our minds to them, it is impossible to understand the Scriptures in depth. Yet the contrary is equally true: without the Scriptures, the events of the mission of Jesus and his Church in this world would remain incomprehensible.” Let us make a concerted effort to give time each day to feed our minds and hearts with something from the treasure of our Bible.

Sightseeing there along with traditional festival, music and dance was quite an eye-opener. Tea factory and chocolate factory was a must and the traditional massage! Kumarakam was beautiful with a day on the Houseboat – very relaxing on Punnamada Lake. The end of the trip saw us in Cherai, Fort Kochi and Angamaly. It was wonderful time seeing different sights, eating lots of new foods, and of course lots of churches including the church of St. Thomas at Malayattoor. I have previously visited Bombay (Mumbai), Goa and Sri Lanka and thought I would keep the best until last – which I believe I have done.

sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my

petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen
