AAA Word From the Pastor
With the opening of the academic year, a blessing will be offered to all students and teachers in attendance at Mass this weekend. Msgr. James McNamara will lead a pilgrimage to Rome for the canonization of Blessed Paul VI and Archbishop Oscar Romero. The pilgrimage leaves Thursday, October 11 and returns Tuesday, October 16. For more information, contact www.206tours.com/canonizationfrjim. A reminder that Telecare will become known as The Catholic Faith Network (CFN) on September 7, 2018. CFN will continue to provide the original content of daily Masses and devotions along with reporting on news from the Vatican and nation-wide. In addition to a new look, new series will air this fall. CFN is available on Ca-blevision channel 29/137, Time Warner Channel 71 and Verizon FiOS channel 296. You can also view the network on demand and live streaming at www.CFNtv.org and on social media platforms. Religious education classes begin THIS MONTH. Registration information was mailed to all parents and/or guardians of previously enrolled students. If you didn't receive the information, please call Ryan at the Church Office, Monday through Wednesday. Also, please note that there is a REQUIRED MEETING for parents/and or guardians. A letter were sent to parents and guardians about this meeting and asks for a response as to which meeting you will attend:
Wednesday, September 5 at 7:30 PM in the Library or
Thursday, September 6 at 4:15 PM in the Library.
Attendance is required at one of the meetings in order for your child to attend classes this year. If you have not as yet responded, please call Ryan at the Rectory Office this coming Tuesday or Wednesday. If you have a child/children, grades one through eight, not been previously enrolled in the parish program, please call Ryan for information and registration. Attempting to keep my former promise, I had a procedure at the hospital about a lit-
tle over a week ago and I can tell you that all went well. The reason you didn't see
me last weekend was because I was resting as the doctor requested. I returned to
my pastoral duties this past Monday. Thanks to Father Steven Jung, Deacon Chris
and Father Marcellus for their help last weekend.

FOCUS: Let us prepare to hear the word of God and enter worthily into the Mass by calling to mind our sins so that our prayers during this Mass will come from our sincere repentance. Then we will ask for the mercy of God. In the first reading, Moses reveals the way to gain true wisdom. It begins with respect for the word of God. In the second reading, we learn that sincere religion looks after the needs of others. In the Gospel, Jesus criticizes the Pharisees and the scribes for emphasizing the minute aspects of the purity laws while neglecting the larger issues required by the commandments of God.
