BUILDING & MAINTENANCE FUND Today, our Second Collection is for our Building & Maintenance Fund. Your continued generous support allows us to take care of our aging facilities and buildings.

ACE COLLECTION Next Sunday’s Second Collection is the ACE COLLECTION for the benefit of our Parish School. Your generosity is very much appreciat-ed by our school children.

HUMILITY Have you ever been in a group of people—maybe on a tour, at a social gathering, or at church—and discovered that you have just been talking with a well-known author, corporate CEO, great scholar, or politician? Your first thought is the hope that you didn’t say anything to embarrass yourself; but your second thought is how much they seemed like such “regular” folks. What is it that makes people seem so “regular”? Today’s readings give us a clue when they stress the importance of humility. It is so hard for us not to tell the first person who will listen how busy we are, how hard we work, how much money we donate, and how important our job titles are. We think these accolades make a difference to peo-ple, and if we don’t tell them, how will they ever know? But if our actions demonstrate our values, people will recognize our worth on their own. The words of Jesus show us how much better it is to let someone else recognize our worth than to be embarrassed because someone did not. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

FAZtor ’s Notes By Fr. Arnold Zamora Holy Name School is now in full swing. Our street corners are now busy with cars and pedestrians every weekday

morning. Our parking spaces will now be very limited if available at all. Here’s good news! We have an increase of enroll-ment this year. We have 330 students. There are about 37 Kindergarteners and we even have a waiting list. I would like welcome in a special way our new students. We also have new teachers to welcome to our school community. Mrs. Kristin Sullivan is our new Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Charlotte Simon is our new Junior High Sci-ence teacher and Mr. Andrew Contreras is the new 6-8 grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher. I am looking forward to another great and exciting year. Here’s a quote from Kuantzu: If you give a man a fish, he will eat once. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for the rest of his life. If you are thinking a year ahead, sow seed. If you are thinking ten years ahead, plant a tree. If you are thinking one hundred years ahead, educate the people. By sowing seed, you will harvest much. By planting a tree, you will harvest tenfold. By educating the people, you will harvest one hundred-fold. Education is important. If you attend Holy Name School you will have Religion classes. If you are attend-ing public school however, there are no religion classes offered. We invite you to enroll in the Religious Education program in our parish. Sr. Cristina, our new pastoral as-sociate, is the Director for Religious Program (DRE). Last weekend, she spoke at every Mass inviting parents, grandparents and guardians to send their children to our Religious program. In as much as we invite children, we are also in need of volunteer catechists. Please share your Time and Talent! You are blessed and you will still be blessed when you do that. The catechist asked her class of seven-years olds: “If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and gave all my money to the church, would that get me into heaven? “NO!” answered all the children. “If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard and kept everything neat and tidy, would that get me into heaven?” Again, they answered, “NO!” “Well, then, if I was kind to animals and gave candy to all the children, and love my husband, you that get me into heaven?” Again, they all answered, “NO!” Perplexed, the woman continued, “Then how can I get into heaven?” One of the boys shouted out, “YOU GOTTA BE DEAD!” Our fervent prayers and deepest condolences to the family of parishioner Catalino Nirona who passed away few weeks ago. Catalino and his wife Trinidad are mem-bers of our AAA 1% club. He was a man who kept loving ‘til the end of his life. May his soul rest in peace!
