NOTES FROM MONSIGNOR TIM:
WELCOME MARRIAGE PREPARATION COUPLES: This weekend we welcome a number of couples who are enrolled in our Marriage Prepara-tion Weekend. Each of these couples plans to celebrate the sacrament of Marriage in the coming weeks and months here or in neighboring churches. We welcome them to Holy Rosary this weekend and thank our Marriage Preparation Team for being part of this ministry and making it the success that it is.
NEXT WEEKEND WE WELCOME THE MINNESOTA CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAS for their state wide convention. Their
convention meetings and banquet will be held at the Detroit Lakes Holiday Inn and the Eucharistic Celebrations will be here in our church. Those Masses will be at 5:00 P.M. both Friday and Saturday evenings. On Sat-urday evening Bishop Hoeppner will be here for the celebration as the new state officers are formally installed. Because of the large crowd at Mass on Saturday evening those who normally attend that Mass may want to attend one of the Sunday morning Masses. Once again we welcome the Catholic Daughters to Holy Rosary and to Detroit Lakes and wish them God’s richest blessings in their meetings and celebrations! NO ADORATION AND STATIONS OF THE CROSS THIS FRIDAY: Be-
cause of the Catholic Daughters Convention Mass Friday evening in our church we will cancel Adoration, Benediction and Stations of the Cross for this week only. That schedule will resume on Friday, April 14.
COMMUNAL PENANCE SERVICE: Next Sunday night (April 10) at 6:30 P.M. Holy Rosary Parish will celebrate its Lenten Penance Service. A number of priests will be with us that evening for the individual celebration of the Sacrament of Penance. This is a wonderful way for us to prepare
for Holy Week and Easter to come!
OUR SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND is the annual collection for Catholic Relief Services American Bishops Overseas Appeal. Please
be generous.
THIS YEAR’S EASTER CANDLE: Easter is drawing near and we are beginning to receive your offerings for the new Easter Candle. If you wish to make a contribution, you may fill out the information of the inside page of the Bulletin as to who the gift is in memory or honor of with the donors name and place it in the collection basket at Mass or leave it at the Parish Office. We will acknowledge these gifts during the Easter season!
Surely we are not blind, are we?

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults… RCIA ses-sions are on Sundays from 10-11 in the Parish Re-source Center. We had a new person enter into the process recently, evidence that God’s Spirit contin-ues to work in our midst. It’s also a reminder that the process is designed to incorporate new people at any time. Interested persons may contact Sister Kathleen or Deacon Red Elton at 847-1393.
Infant Baptism Preparation… Next ses-
sion for preparation is this week, Thursday, April 7 from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. in the Holy Family Room. Actual Baptisms will take place after Lent. If you are planning to present your baby for Baptism, please contact the Parish Office (847-1393) before April 7. When possible, try to have both parents attend the preparation session.
NEW AND EXPERIENCED LECTORS There will be a workshop for new and experienced Lectors on Sunday, April 10 from 10 – 11 a.m. in the Parish Resource Center. The workshop will empha-size important ―tips‖ for Lectors in general plus ―a heads up‖ on how the Mass changes this Fall will affect Lectors. For more information, contact Paula Okeson at 846-1923 or Sister Kathleen at 847-1393.
Filled with love of God and love of
neighbor, Padre Pio lived to the full his vocation to work for the redemption of man, in accordance with the special mission which marked his entire life and which he exercised through the spiritual direction of the faithful: the sacramental reconciliation of penitents
and the celebration of the Eucharist. The pinnacle of his apostolic activity was the celebration of Holy Mass. The faithful who took part witnessed the sum-mit and fullness of his spirituality. On the level of so-cial charity, he committed himself to relieving the pain and suffering of many families, chiefly through the foundation of the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza (House for the Relief of Suffering), opened on 5 May 1956. For Padre Pio, faith was life: he willed everything and did everything in the light of faith. He was assidu-ously devoted to prayer. He passed the day and a large part of the night in conversation with God. He would say: ―In books we seek God, in prayer we find him. Prayer is the key which opens God's heart‖. Faith led him always to accept God's mysterious will. The love of God filled him, and satisfied his every desire; charity was the chief inspiration of his day: to love God and to help others to love him. His special concern was to grow in charity and to lead others to do so. He was truly devoted to God. His devotion to God came with a stigmata also. A stigmata is defined as: ―the marks corresponding to those left on Jesus’ body by the Crucifixion, said to have been impressed by divine favor on the bodies of St. Francis of Assisi and others‖. He literally had the wounds of Christ. His hands and feet were both wounded with the wounds of Christ. This stigma caused him much an-guish, but he received it with complete joy.
In youth news, we have the Middle School Youth Rally in Roseau on April 9. Youth in 6th, 7th, and 8th
grade may attend. If you are interested in going, please contact me and I will add you to the list. Jun-iors and above (up to age 65) who are interested in deepening their faith are invited to a weekend retreat called TEC (To Encounter Christ) in Crookston on
April 16th, 17th, and 18th. This is a wonderful week-end, which explores the Pascal Mystery. I encour-age you all to consider sending someone to it. If you have any questions about the ministry I do, or with any of these events please do not hesitate to call. I continue to pray for you as you journey with God on a daily basis.
Question of the Week Jesus cures the blind man and can cure our blind spots. Who/what do you need to see more clearly? What/whom do you believe in?
The first verse of the hymn "Amazing Grace" re-minds us of this gospel passage. Why? Here are the words: Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found, Was blind but now I see.
Who are the "truly blind" people in this gospel story? How can you keep from going through life "blind" to the reality of Jesus and his love in your life? How will you stay alert to really see and care for those who need Jesus' healing touch?
Great Gifts Available! Check out the Holy Rosary Gift Shop located in the Welcoming Center for great gifts! We have 1st Eucharist, Confirmation, Graduation and Easter gifts and much more! We recently received some children’s Easter books that will make great Easter basket fillers. Mon.- Fri., 8:00–4:30 pm.
