The 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time November 17th & 18th, 2018

…..from your Pastor’s Desk I made this list a few years back after listening to various people, some who were not always grateful and didn’t see the blessings all around them. Most, however did. I was asked by several of you if I would put it in the bulletin again this year. It bears repeating. It is a reminder to give thanks for simple everyday things that we may not notice:

-I am thankful for the mess to clean up after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends.

-I am thankful for the homework I have to do because it means I live in a country where I am free to study and learn.

-I am thankful for the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have had enough to eat.

-I am thankful for my chores, because it means I have a home.

-I am thankful for all the complaining I do about the government because it means I have freedom of speech.

-I am thankful for the parking spot I find even way down the block, because it means I am capable of walking.

-I am thankful for my big heating bill because it means I am warm.

-I am thankful for the person behind me in Church who sings off-key because it means I can hear.

-I am thankful for the piles of laundry and ironing, and doing dishes, because it means I have a family.

-I am thankful for weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been productive.

And finally… -I am thankful for the alarm clock that goes off early in the morning because it means that…I am still alive.

So, we take a few moments to remember what it is that we are thankful for. And how we can live out our thankfulness in more than words. Enjoy this day. Enjoy family if you gather. Enjoy your meal if you are so blessed. Enjoy the football games or parade if you watch. Enjoy every beat of your heart and every breath you take. Oh, one more thing. I am thankful for you! Fr. Ron

The Gospel for this Sunday is a reminder that Jesus has come to save us

all and will come again to call the living and the dead to life forever with

God.

Pray Together as a Family The sentiment in the Bible is, “Come, Lord Jesus.” Read today’s Gospel reading

(Mark 13:24-32) and have a conversation about the week’s Gospel reading, make a family litany based on current events. Read headlines from the newspaper or from an online news source. After each headline, pray together: “Come, Lord Jesus.” www.pflaumweeklies.com
