Helpful hints for this week’s readings
Saved through relationships When I first got involved with ministry within the Church, I was a different person. Although I
wanted to serve God, I had a lot of character flaws. I was very judgmental, selfish and insensitive.
Thank God for my mentors and friends. Through them Jesus has saved me from those flaws. Over
the years my family and friends have challenged me and forgiven me, inspired me to change, and
been patient when I couldn’t. I’m still far from perfect, but I’m a much better Christian now
because of my relationship with them.
And that leads us to the Trinity and this week’s Gospel. First, the Trinity. The Church believes that
God’s very self is a relationship – Creator, Son, and Holy Spirit. And that relationship pours love
into the world. Aren’t we similar? Just like God, relationships are central to our nature. Our
friendships build us up or tear us down. They help us fulfil our dreams or they get in the way.
That brings us to this week’s Gospel. The Trinity, this God of relationships, seeks to save the
world, not condemn it. Do your relationships do the same thing? Do your friends challenge you to
live a holier life? Do you hang out with people who inspire you to goodness and compassion? Is
the world around you and your friends a better place when you all get together?
I remember one young guy from a parish I once served. For quite some time, he hung out with
people who skipped school and smoked pot. That became his lifestyle. After I met him, he
became involved in our parish youth ministry. He started hanging our more with people who
worked to improve themselves and their world through prayer, hard work at school, and service.
Those relationships helped change him into a youth leader – which them helped change the
world around him.
This week remember that the Trinity’s relationship changes the world. Then think about your
relationship with friends. Do some comparing. Hopefully, you’ll see that you’re a lot more like the
Trinity than you think.
How do your friends’ relationships with you help them follow Jesus? Do those relationships ever
hurt their ability to follow Jesus? Copyright © 2014 GPBS, All rights reserved

Pope francis’ Monthly prayer intention
Each year, the Holy Father asks for our prayers for a specific intention each month. You are invited to answer the Holy Father's request and to join with many people worldwide in praying for this intention each month. In June we pray that National Leaders may firmly commit themselves to ending the arms trade, which victimizes so many innocent people. Scripture Isaiah 2: 2-5 When God’s instruction is followed and his will is done, then weapons of destruction will be turned into farming implements. The inconceivable sums of money that are spent on weapons will be used to provide for the poor of the world.
Every created moment and thing is a blessed sacrament of God’s real presence. Whenever, for instance, we experience the heartfelt feelings of anyone, we are experiencing God. When we truly love anybody, we somehow redeem that person forever, because our love is, as St Augustine said, divine love incarnate. When we forgive somebody, that person is forgiven by God. This is so amazing that most people dismiss it as untrue. It is too simple and too profound. To love anyone truly is to be another Christ, to be God incarnate. Treasured and Transformed, Daniel O’Leary
Time to Relfect
A big thank you to everyone who helped with the organisation and success of the Pentecost Sunday feast day festival last weekend. The setting up, helping out on the stalls, cooking, pricing, judging, models in the fashion parade, making fairy floss and
popcorn and clearing away after the event all contributed to another great feast day celebration. We had five stalls, a tea and coffee stand and a school extravaganza. The Festival provided an opportunity for parishioners to get together and to meet one another. The winners of the cake competition were very excited to receive their prize and the winner's cake - beautifully decorated with the head of Mickey Mouse - was donated to Mother Teresa school to thank them for all the work they put into presenting the fashion parade. And finally thank you to all the parishioners who contributed to the success of the morning by their attendance. A event well organised by Sean Ryan and his team of helpers. Thank you one and all. Fr Mark

Planned Giving 2017 What do you appreciate about your Parish Community?
Pastoral Support?
Sacramental program?
Music at Mass?
Heating/cooling in Church?
Well prepared liturgies and Mass?
Church repairs and maintenance?
The reality today is that all these activities and more require money. Although we have many wonderful volunteers, there are tasks and duties within the Parish that need to be undertaken by paid staff. In this regard salaries have nearly doubled to around $140 000 p.a since 2013.
For the successful running of our Parish we need sufficient funds to support all the activities required by the church and our community. We need you monetary support.
We are asking all Parishioners to consider how much monetary support they are able to give to our faith community. If you are able to donate to the church financially we are asking you to complete the Planned Giving Donation form (Cream). If you wish to donate via Direct Debit we also need you to complete the Direct Debit Request form which will be sent to CDF to set up. Presentations will be held at Mass over the following weekends.
Forms are available and can be completed and placed in the box.

roster
Project Roster continues We are continuing to add all the information from the Call to Ministry sheets into a spreadsheet as we prepare to move to a three-monthly roster. Some of the planned changes are as follows:
Parish Office to send contact details to everyone who is on the roster so that you can manage your roster and swap with another person when necessary;
Return to a 3-monthly roster;
Encourage active use of the website;
Promote the knowledge that this is not a life-time commitment. Thank you for your patience and if you have any questions or comments, we would encourage you to send them to Naomi in the Parish Office – [email protected]
Introducing Naomi Johnson Naomi is a parishioner who will be working in the office for the next six months - Thursday and Friday - to help set up the new rosters, bring parishioner information up to date in the Parish database, ensure all WWVP information is up to date, ensure we are abiding by copyright rules for the music we use at our weekend Liturgies and a range of other administrative duties. She is married to Craig and has three daughters, one who attends John Paul II College and two who attend Holy Spirit school. We welcome Naomi too the Parish team.
