25th Sunday in Ordinary Time September 24th, 2017

“We hear in the Gospel account this weekend that “the last shall be first, and the first shall be last in the kingdom of

heaven.” These words of Christ to the disciples come after He has spoken to them in a parable calling to mind the

example of the laborers in the vineyard and the landowner. This example of Christ goes directly against the society they lived in, and also in stark contrast to what we experience in

our daily lives in this day. There is no shortage of stories that can come to mind of people seeking to be the most

important and the best at something, and once they have attained that certain level of status, lording it over everyone else. Christ came to this earth as the most important person

the world had ever known or will know. The King of the universe, and the fully divine Son of God the Father came as a child to save us, in our broken humanity, from our sins. He could have ruled this world as the King of Kings, but instead

He chose a broken humanity and suffered death upon the cross. We must strive to follow the example of Christ

Himself and be the servant of all and the least of all if we hope to enter His heavenly kingdom at the end of our earthly

lives. In Edge this year with our middle schoolers we are talking and learning about Jesus Christ the King, and what the kingship and power of Christ means to each of them in their

own lives. Let us pray for the will of Jesus the King to be known in our hearts and in our minds, and through His

almighty power, reshape the world in which we live. In the words of the great Saint John Paul II, “Wherever people are suffering make it your task to serve them.” May God bless

you this week!”- Brian Kirby

Most Blessed Sacrament Adult and Children’s Choir Many parishioners have told me over the years that they enjoy hearing the children sing. It’s a great way to praise God and

enhance our Mass and we can never have too many voices. If you know a child in Grades 2-8 that likes to sing, please

contact me at 617-479-4107 or by email at [email protected]. We sing on Sunday mornings at the

8:30 am Mass. Adult Choir members are also needed to sing at the 4:30 pm Mass on Saturdays

Edge for Middle School began this past Tuesday night! Lifeteen’s annual theme for the year is Heart of God. “God raised up David to be their king; of whom he testified and

said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will’ - Acts 13:22. Let us pray for our middle schoolers this year that they may encounter the

Heart of God and truly come to know Jesus Christ the King of Kings
