Ask the children which film they would prefer to watch – Up or what’s up? Explain how lots of people or companies copy others successful products to earn money or success by hoping people will confuse their copy product with the more renowned one. Are these copy products likely to be of good quality?
Moving on to the coke, ask children to vote which they more recognise. This is an obvious choice but the counties of our world are so connected, a company can often find their product being copied in another country where they are yet to start selling.
A good example, which model is worth more? Allow children to discuss before moving on to next page showing the two logos. Lego has been in a long running court case with a Chinese company which was copying their sets. Click link to show the BBC News report.
To finish, show the class the real or risk page. Ask if they would download a film for free instead of pay for it? What could be the risk of us downloading the ‘free’ app? Risk of malware, viruses, ransomware, scams and fraud all endanger security before we have even risked being fined for downloading copyrighted films without paying for them.
