Home Depot• Home Depot was founded by Bernie Marcus and Arthur

Blank. The first The Home Depot was opened June 22, 1979 in Atlanta, GA.

• Marcus and Blank retired in 2000. Robert Nardelli became chairman, President & Chief Executive officer of The Home Depot. Nardelli previously spent almost 30 years at General Electric, as president and CEO of GE Power Systems.

• Current Board of directors of Home Depot are: Frank Blake, Greg Brenneman, John Clendenin, Claudio González, Milledge Hart, Bonnie Hill, Laban Jackson, Lawrence Johnston, Ken Langone, Angelo Mozilo, Robert Nardelli, and Tom Ridge

• In May 2006, Shareholders expressed concern about Nardelli’s pay package of $123.7 million, excluding stock options over the last 5 years.

• In June 2006, a customer found 2- 50lb bricks of marijuana with street value of about $145,000 inside a bathroom vanity he purchased.

• In September 2006 two midlevel Managers were fired for due to allegations of unauthorized chargebacks to venders.

• In 1998, 185 customer accidents were reported in a week

• More than $75 million has been invested in the Gulf Coast Communities affected by Hurricanes.

• In 2005, Home Depot and KaBOOM! Created and refurbished more than 1000 play spaces in 1000 days. To date more than 400 playgrounds have been built and Home depot will invest more than $25 million dollars and over 1 million in volunteer hours to support this project.

In 1991, Home Depot has become a large supporter of athletics, sponsoring the United States and Canadian Olympic teams, and launched a program to offer employment to athletes that fully allowed for their training and competition schedules. Home Depot Stopped sponsorship of the Canadian Olympic Team in 2005.

Do It Herself Workshops

• Our Do-It-Herself Workshops offer a friendly, supportive environment for women to learn new skills and tackle interesting home improvement and decor projects. These free one-night workshops are held each season in every one of The Home Depot Stores.

Kids WorkshopsKids Workshops are free "How-To Clinics" designed for children ages 5-

12. The workshops are offered on the first Saturday of each month between 9:00 a.m. and noon at all The Home Depot stores. Children accompanied by an adult construct projects from pre-fabricated kits. The kits are designed to be both educational and practical.

In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

• Since 1997, 12 million projects have been built at Kids Workshops• More than 750,000 children built their first toolbox at The Home Depot• Nearly 600,000 birdhouses have been constructed at Kids Workshops• More than 290,000 children have built a step stool at Kids Workshops • to help them reach higher• 75 children per store attend a Kids Workshop on average• while many stores have 200 kids attend regularly
