Greetings BIA members:

Well the big one is complete for 2015 with the annual Parade of Homes

event being a huge success. Lots of quality traffic reported at the 93

models and great times back at the Hyatt for the POH Awards presentation

and dinner. Thanks to Beverly and Leslie for an outstanding effort and

making the POH a big success AGAIN!

As my time as your BIA Executive Vice President winds down I reflect back on my involvement

with the HBA/BIA over almost 20 years of being a member and part of the staff.

I have had the opportunity to be both a builder and associate member during this time. My

introduction to the HBA began in North Carolina as a business owner and an associate member

belonging to 3 separate HBA’s (all at the same time). It was clear to me the more I became

involved with the HBA’s events and committees, the more my business grew. I was appointed to

the board of directors in Greensboro and was ready to serve, when we decided to move back to

Bradenton. Having experienced the success that I contribute to the HBA it was my desire to get

involved with the HBA here in Manatee. With many thanks to John Dukovac for the opportunity

and the chance to be involved as a builder member to serve on the board of directors, senior

officers and as President was a true honor for me.

These past 6 plus years has also been a great experience to again serve this wonderful

association and to have the platform to advocate on behalf of the membership of the BIA and

the construction industry to insure that our businesses can grow and be successful in providing

the “American Dream of Home Ownership”. The most rewarding part of this “second” career

was being able to work with all of the individuals that are involved with the association as well as

the countless people in our community that make Manatee and Sarasota the best place to live

and work in Florida. My passion for our industry, association and community has only been

because of ALL of you, along with your support and commitment to work together for our

common goals. We have accomplished much and there is still a lot of work ahead, but we will

continue to secure a positive and successful future.

As does many things in life go full circle, so does my future. I will re-activate my “Life

Directorship” on the BIA board of directors and at FHBA as an associate member and continue

with my involvement with the Future

Builders of America for the

immediate future.
