Happy New Year! 2015 was a great year as our PayneWest team’s commitment to our three C’s - Clients, Colleagues and Community - continued to grow. For example, the initiative, PayneWest Giving Our Best, allowed us to provide more support in our communities. We will continue our work towards implementing new

technologies, more resources and superior products for our clients during 2016.

Welcome 2016! For many of us, ringing in the New Year allows an opportunity for a fresh start. Is it time for your insurance review? Your PayneWest team of professionals want to help you ensure you have the coverage you need to protect yourself.

Your friends and family may also benefit from an insurance review. They’ll thank you when you refer them to your PayneWest Insurance advisor, who may identify gaps in their coverage and an opportunity to save on premiums.

We would be honored to make a $5 contribution to the Boys & Girls Club of Benton and Franklin Counties when your friends and family contact us for an insurance quote.

The Boys & Girls Club operates both traditional club services and licensed child care programs in the Tri-City area. There are four traditional clubs and numerous child care facilities throughout the community.

Another group of our PayneWest volunteers, comprised of animal lovers, headed to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society, where they pitched in to help out wherever they could. Cleaning up around the facility and giving the animals some much appreciated attention.

The Benton Franklin Humane Society, which was founded in 1996, is a volunteer supported nonprofit organization funded by donations from the community.

The shelter’s mission is “to work for the prevention of cruelty to animals and the creation of a more responsible and humane society.” It is one of the only select handful of shelters across the country to

receive the American Humane Association “Standard of Excellence” award, which they have received five times. We are very proud to have such a high quality, forward-thinking animal shelter facility in our community.

Another project that some our PayneWest team members took on was the Sock Drive for the Mission. PayneWest staff members contributed socks that were then donated to the Mission to help bring some comfort to the homeless and those in need in our community.

At PayneWest, we live by our 3 C’s: Clients, Colleagues and Community. Everyone who volunteered found the experience to be very rewarding. Community is core to PayneWest’s mission.

Mike, a Tri-Cities native and a commercial sales agent who has been with PayneWest since 1979, says he learned about the importance of volunteering from his parents. For example, he recalls serving alongside his father at the mission and at local retirement homes when he was a boy.

“When I started in business, the first thing I did was join

a service club,” he says. “I found that many of the organizations in the community that are important to my clients are also important to me...When we all give back, it makes the entire community better.”

Today, Mike has built a legacy of service. He recently was elected to serve as a commissioner for the Kennewick Hospital District. Additionally, for the past 23 years, he has served on the foundation board for Trios Hospital. He continues to be active with Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a past chair. Other organizations in which he has held leadership

positions include the YMCA, Boy Scouts, Church and Community Health Alliance.

Mike credits both his wife of 41 years, Pam, and his staff for helping him find the time to be involved in many volunteer projects.

“There are many people in our office who give of their time and their talents, and we also do things collectively to make our community a better place,” Mike adds.

“It makes for good business and it makes you feel better...Even when you do small things, they can really add up to make a difference.”
