Home Learning Plan – Year 3
Dear Parents/Carers,
On the following pages you will find a table outlining daily activities for your child to complete. Please complete all written work
in homework books. Suitable book standards should still be maintained e.g.: only using lead pencil unless otherwise stated. This
work will be marked upon returning to school.
Children should do 30 minutes of physical activity daily. Ideas for getting moving might be kick a ball, bounce on the trampoline,
make up a dance and perform it for a partner or pet, shoot some hoops.

Please note: This week’s Science experiment involves using heat sources and metal. Please assist your child with this
experiment.

Conduct your own experiment using heat sources (warm water, heater, hot water bottle, body heat etc) and a metal spoon. Draw a picture of your heat source and your spoon on the worksheet. Use arrows to show the heat going from the source to the spoon. After being exposed to the heat source, record if the spoon was hot or warm. Reflect on whether this activity used conduction, radiation or convection.

Persuasive Writing
Yesterday you created your plan and today you will complete the writing for your
persuasive piece. Remember your topic is: We Should/Should Not Have a Robot
Points to remember:
- Use five paragraphs - Introduction states your point of view – Summer is better than winter - Three main arguments (reasons) to convince your audience - Conclusion ties it all together by reinforcing and summarising the key main points. - Each paragraph should have two-three sentences - Punctuation (capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks, commas, question
marks) - Persuasive language eg. There is no doubt that; it is important; it is true to say
that; it is necessary; I am convinced; most people think that; I believe that; is fantastic etc.
- You can use emotive language - You can exaggerate a little
