Home of the Month MAY—Homeowners Randy Wood and Brandon Fulson bought the house in May of 2010, after living in the Waldo area for some time. Here is Randy’s response when asked why he loves living in Prairie Village:

The Wood and Fulson home at 4519 W 69th Terrace

“We have lots of reasons for loving Prairie Village. When we bought the house, we liked that we could walk to get coffee, eat out, and now even go to movies. We have always said though, that our greatest treasure is our fabulous neighbors. We have one of the most active and fun blocks in the area. During the summer months, you will see groups of neighbors sitting out in lawn chairs enjoying a drink and socializing. We have an event called "Flamingle" (flamingos and min-gling combined) where different neighbors will volunteer to have drinks and snacks on their drive-- for all to enjoy. The other thing we love about our street are the beautiful oak trees that line our block. We take great pride in our home and yard,

and do all we can to keep it looking vibrant and alive!”

JUNE—Homeowner David Case had this say about his home:

The Case home at 3907 W 73rd Terrace

“I bought my home in 2006 (on the day it was listed) after a good friend who lived next door told me it was on the mar-ket. I’ve loved my time in Prairie Village and have had the opportunity to meet some great neighbors and residents over the years. I wouldn’t trade my time in PV for anything and I’m excited to see how the community continues to evolve in the years to come. “

AUGUST—Summer 2019 marks the Herndons' third in Prai-

rie Village and they could not be happier…an easy transi-

tion from their former home in Brookside. Ashley Herndon

loves that she can still walk to shops and get to the grocery

store in seconds to pick up that one forgotten item. The fam-

ily received a warm welcome from their neighbors the first

week after move-in, and the sense of community continues

to grow. The children, Weston (5 years) and Annabelle (3

years) enjoy the proximity to Porter Park and walking

around and exploring the neighborhood. Ashley loves living

in this community and looks forward to the years of memo-

ries she will create with her family and neigh-

bors...memories that will last a lifetime.

SEPTEMBER—Melinda moved back to the KC area a few

years ago from Philadelphia. She has two grown children

and is a proud grandmother. Melinda had always known she wanted to retire to Prairie Village. A walk-able city with great green spaces and friendly people was exactly what Melinda was looking for. She enjoys seeing so many people out walking, as she does the same. Melinda feels the sense of community is heart-warming. Welcome home Melinda!

OCTOBER—A few words from homeowner, Scott:

“Kristen and I moved to our home in April 2014, we have a

two-year old daughter (Madison) and yorkie-poo (Mazie).

We love our neighbors on 69th Terrace, being walking dis-

tance to three, soon to be four parks and all the leaves that

oak trees drop in the fall. Last spring and summer, we had

the pleasure of hosting a family of yellow-crowned night

herons in one of our oak trees, it was the talk of the neigh-

borhood.”

NOVEMBER—The Luchtefelds have lived in Prairie Vil-

lage since 1968 and moved to their current home in 1979.

Maryann worked at the Jones Store in the Village and

they’ve both been long time parishioners of St. Ann’s. They

raised two boys and a girl in PV and love seeing the current

vitality and resurgence of families moving into the neigh-

borhood.
