The use of Kinesio Tape in patients with scars after

Scar problems are a common consequence after breast surgery. In the

European Institute of Oncology such post-surgical sequelae are treated by

means of the kinesio tape technique for scar tissue.

Kinesio tape could be used for :

• Deep scars after surgery

• Deep scars after post-surgical drain removal

• Enhancing skin mobility after surgery and/or radiotherapy

• Reducing tension perception caused by the scar tissue

Results

• Better tissue mobility

• Reduction of perception of tension

• Improvement of the visual esthetic aspect of deep scars

• Further studies are warranted to prove the scientific efficacy of this method

Scar tissue effects

Usually the scars after surgery represent am esthetic consequence for the patients. Sometimes

patients report tension in the scar tissue area that may limit arm movement.
