Residential occupancies that contain at least one fuel-burning appliance (i.e. gas water heater or gas furnace), fireplace or an attached garage, require the installation of a CO alarm.
The CO alarm must be located adjacent to all sleeping areas of the home.
Always follow manufacturer’s instructions for installation and replacement.
CO alarms sound different from smoke alarms when they activate. Everyone in the home should know the difference between the sound of a smoke alarm and sound of a CO alarm.
For added protection, install CO alarms on every storey of your home.
