Homebase Notes 4/12/2019 Congratulations is in order for two IRCHS exceptional athletes: Stephanie Alayo and Danielle Gaillard did an amazing job for the Vero Beach Track and Field Team at the District Meet last week. Stephanie Won the 400-meter race and advanced to regionals. She also won first place in the 4x4 relay race. Danielle placed 5 th in the shot-put competition. This is a wonderful showing of the skill level of our athletes at IRCHS. As their coach said, “these young ladies are well on their way to receiving full university sports scholarships when they graduate high school.” CONGRATULATIONS to the IRCHS Wolves Ensemble for taking 1st place in the VBHS 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands! It was an honor to be a part of such a great event supporting our friends and neighbors at VBHS. Great job Wolves! VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Vero Beach Museum of Art needs 20 volunteers to run the Children's Art Festival on Saturday, April 27th from 10-3 (this is also a musical performance date so be aware of that). US HISTORY EOC AND BIOLOGY EOC All students enrolled in US History, US History Honors, and Advanced Placement US History will take the US HISTORY EOC on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 8 a.m. All students enrolled in Biology and Biology Honors will take the BIOLOGY EOC on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 8 a.m.

Students will report to their assigned testing room by 7:45 a.m. A list with assigned testing rooms will be posted next week in the front office, your Homebase and your History or Biology class. IF YOU ARE IN US HISTORY AND BIOLOGY, THERE WILL BE A MAKEUP SESSION.

The Vero Beach Easter Parade Thursday, April 18, 2019 Humiston Park Children's Activities to begin at 4pm Parade to begin at 6pm Proceeds from the event will benefit Boys & Girls Club of Indian River County Contact: [email protected] Student Ambassador/Chick-fil-A Leadership Program Next school year, we are starting a Student Ambassador/Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy Program!! What exactly is this? Student Ambassadors are a small group of students that are dedicated to positively promote Indian River Charter High School. Students will serve as a liaison between the IRCHS community, current students, and prospective students. We will

also work closely with Chick-fil-A's national high school leadership program. Eligibility Requirements:

- All Student Ambassadors must maintain a strong GPA of at least a 3.0. Students will not be eligible to participate if they are on an attendance or disciplinary contract. - Strong work ethic and responsible character - Enthusiastic and positive attitude - Identified by others as a positive leader (determined through the recommendation letters) - Strong attendance record - A sincere desire to help IRCHS and to share positive, personal experiences with others

Adding these programs to our school is an amazing opportunity and definitely something you can add to your resume! Prom: Prom will be held on April 20th this year at the Grand Harbor Country Club. The theme of the 2019 Prom is "A Winter Wonderland" There are only 1 tickets left for purchase. Each ticket costs $45.00 per person. The cost of the ticket includes a buffet dinner, beverage and dessert. Prom hours are 6:30PM to 11:00PM.

Formal attire is required. Prom is an event for juniors and seniors. Canned Goods vs Boxed Foods

The Key Club Annual Talent Show is Wednesday May 1st from 6:30-8PM. Come see the wonderful Talent Acts that IRCHS has to offer! Admission is $5 at the door and prizes will be awarded to participants! All profits from the show will help provide safe clean drinking water to a community in rural Africa.

Lily Orders

Lily orders will be delivered after school today. Please come pick them up ASAP from Mrs. Kelly’s room. If you owe money for late orders, please bring it to Mrs. Kelly ASAP also!

There is only a month and a half left of school and we still need $5,000 for the Thirst Project Well Fundraiser. Please continue to share your links! Grad Bash Grad Bash is TODAY! All students attending should report to the brick building at 3:30. Girls will go to the library and boys will go to the weight room. Please make sure that you are in dress code!! Remember, that students will only be able to take a small purse (5.5" x 8.5"), fanny pack or drawstring backpack (no larger than 14" x 18"). Please DO NOT plan to bring a regular backpack, you will not be able to bring it. Any belongings (school backpacks, keys, etc.) may be left in the library and you may retrieve them upon our return. Any medications must be placed into a ziploc bag with your name on it and given to Ms. Kafer. We will return at approximately 4:30am, please inform your parents if they are picking you up. If you have any questions, please see or email Ms. Kafer.
