Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Morrison Hill) Part-time Evening Lecturer / Instructor [Academic Year 2018/2019] Applications are now invited for part-time lecturing posts for the part-time evening Higher Diploma Programmes offered by the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Morrison Hill) of the Vocational Training Council in the academic year 2018/2019 which will commence in September 2018.

Requirements

Applicants should have: (a) a relevant recognized degree or equivalent professional qualifications, preferably with post-graduate qualifications; and (b) at least 3 years’ relevant teaching and/or industrial experience. Notes: (i) Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment in

English except for the posts in respect of the Chinese & Putonghua subject area for which shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment in Chinese.

(ii) For the Chinese and Communication & Putonghua streams: In addition

to the stipulated requirements, all applicants should also have: (a) Grade B, Level 2 or above in the Test of Proficiency in Putonghua

administered by the State Commission on Language Work; or (b) A pass in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers

(Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA), or equivalent.

Applicants with a recognized degree in Translation / Teaching Chinese as a Second Language or as a Foreign Language may also apply; in such case, a transcript with course details should be provided for consideration. Applicants with this qualification should also fulfill the requirements of Notes ii(a) and (b) above.

(iii) For the English and Communication streams: Applicants with a

recognized degree in a non-relevant field but possess a relevant English teaching qualification, such as Postgraduate Certificate / Diploma in Education (Majoring in English), Teaching English as a Second Language or as a Foreign Language or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL and English-teaching certification recognized by TESL Canada) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP) may also apply; in such case, a transcript with course details including the number of hours of instruction and practicum should be provided for consideration.

(iv) For the Practical Modules: Applicants without a relevant recognized

degree or equivalent professional qualifications but possess a relevant recognized Higher Diploma plus at least 3 years’ experience in relevant industry and/or teaching, OR with 8 years of relevant experience may also apply for the post of Instructor.

Remuneration The hourly pay rates for AY2018/2019 are currently under review. (For reference, for AY2017/18, the pay rate of Lecturer post is HK$360 – HK$515).
