Obituary
Today, we celebrate a life well lived. Dorothy Rice Fouch was born October 15,
1949 to the late Olin Rice and Allene McCurdy Rice in Hartwell, GA.
She lived a happy, fruitful life and touched many lives for Christ along her
journey. Dorothy taught elementary school in Hartwell, GA for over 30 years. She
was a community activist, and she contributed to any cause that she thought would
help someone. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman.
Dorothy was married to the love of her life, Larry Fouch, for 47 years. To this
union, four children were born. She joined Hartwell First Baptist Church at a
young age and later joined her husband at Maple Spring Baptist Church. She
served faithfully as a musician, choir member, Children’s Church coordinator, deacon-
ess, senior mission member and teacher. She had a smile that lit up the room, the
voice of an angel, and a sweet spirit. She was better than blessed, and she praised
the Lord!
Preceding her in death are her sisters: Sarah Mayfield (Prentis), Charlotte
Harper; brothers-in-law: Nathaniel Fouch, Shannon Fouch, Torrey Lewis, and Willie
Sanders Carter; sisters-in-law: Claudette Oglesby and Bertha Fouch.
Left to carry on her legacy are her husband Larry; children: Earl Fouch
(Bernadette) of Dewy Rose, GA, Monica Oglesby (Bruce) of Ellenwood, GA,
Kenya Fouch of Anderson, SC and Maya Geth (Ed) of Hartwell, GA; five grand-
children: Cameron Fouch, BJ and Brady Oglesby, and Trez and Bryce Fouch;
sisters-in-law: Mattie Jones (Curtis) of Hartwell, GA, Barbara Lewis of Dewy
Rose, GA, Margaret Trunell (Roosevelt) of Chicago, IL, Alma Carter of Hunts-
ville, AL and Winnie Fouch of Country Club Hills, IL; brothers-in-law: Jerry Fouch of
Dewy Rose, GA, Cordy Fouch (Inell) of Dewy Rose, GA, and Woodrow Harper of
Hartwell, GA; a very special friend of 51 years: Gordia Prince; and she has a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

Poem
She is Clothed in Strength and Dignity
You were the epitome of strength
Wisdom was your light
You proceeded without fear
Approached each day with righteous fight
How gentle was your spirit
Your presence demanded high respect and favor
Your love was shown beyond measure
Your children call you blessed
You reflect the characteristics of our creator and savior
Take your well-deserved rest in the Covenant
that was established by God
next to your loved ones in the sweet by and by
